Not only was MC Hammer the first rapper to go diamond, he’s also the only rapper to go diamond in the same year his album came out. To this day all rappers still "can’t touch this".

For example, the Italian mob may portray themselves as regulate business men, suits and ties, but if you ever met some (which I have) you know right away you're talking to a wise guy even if they've said and done nothing to tell you. Hammer hid that shit so well, just imagine how many apologies Hammer had to listen to? 😅😅😅

In the party the CRIPS were formed (CRIPs stood for Community Resources for Independent People) and was an organization to help protect the communities since racist cops did not. It wasn’t until the systematic destruction of the party from differences on where the party should expand to. The creation of the cia and introduction of crack deliberately put in the poor communities cause the crips and bloods to be something more sinister…Amerikkka? Ammiright?! 🤦🏾‍♂️

  • @wordofmouth4life

I remembered how the issue with 3rd bass and MC Hammer began and it took place right after “Let’s Get Started”. He said in one of his verses “And when it comes to straight up rockin, I'm second to none. From Doug E Fresh to LL or DJ Run.” No one really was concerned with the shots he took at Doug or LL but it was mainly the shot at Run. By then Run DMC career had declined and the 3 wave or early 90s era rappers has emerged. But Run DMC was considered royalty and people felt that their contribution for bringing hip hop to mainstream gave them immunity from being “diss”. 3rd Bass, Redman was signed to Run’s brother (Russell Simmons) Def Jam and felt the need to try discredit Hammer. Which lead to A Tribe Called Quest and others to take shots. Chuck D was really the only one from Def Jam or the East Coast to come to his defense publicly.

Honestly if you don’t know much about MC Hammer, anyone could get it twisted on not understanding he wasn’t someone to play with. Hammer at a very early age learned a lot of stuff about street life, and at the same time just about, he understood the entertainment business very well and how to put on a show and what performing was really about. I’d almost say he probably was an early pioneer in the black community for having that kind of understanding because at that time there weren’t manny doing what he was doing and surely not as well. and he didnt even actually have that many hits… but he was so good he made those hits last an eternity.
