Life in Thailand after leaving the UK.
Join me on my Thailand adventure as I attempt to create a fruit farm on five acres of land, build a house, dig a well for my own water source and install solar panels to become completely off grid!

I was weed whacking my little 5 rai farm up here in Samoeng, when I accidentally cut into a Malaysian pit viper, who was waiting for me to put one more step probably. The locals tell me if you don’t get to the hospital within ten minutes, you might lose the limb it bit. Yikes ! Now I keep everything cut short and no places for them to hide. Banana trees are the only place to hide now. I’m careful !

Were living out here in rural Thailand too.
Snakes are everywhere. Soon as we moved in maybe a week later woke up to a Python sleeping on the front patio right by the entry door. ( Local snake guy responded).
Have had Vipers coiled around our entry gate and 2 events with Cobras.
Addl. Tarantulas like to frequent the back wall and grass.
Scorpions hiding under anything sitting long periods. And other horrible large spiders that love to move into motor scooters.
Large what we call killer bees enjoy patio furniture so look out.
And something always tries to move into your car or truck AC compartment..
Thats our experiences since moving in our new " palace" 11 months ago..

5:42 you got that right. From my experience planting it, if you cut the root it grows so much faster than the one that you didn't. Next time try cutting all the root off and compare with the one you just planted.

I totally agree with your comments about stepping out of the system created by the government in the UK and other countries.
I wish you and your wife the very best of luck living in Thailand and creating a life of self sufficiency on your farm and a more enjoyable laid back lifestyle then the pressure and hustle and bustle of living in the UK.
Use your savings wisely because the money always runs out and it's not easy to. make money in Thailand as a foreigner.

Patience is an absolute must to a happy life in Thailand so great you have plenty of it. As s suggestion you might want to look at planting some lime trees as they can be expensive in the dry season as the drink a lot of water which you have. Plus Mango can also be expensive at times. Papaya is so easy it is like a 'why not' have a few. A few chickens will give you plenty of eggs. Pretty soon you will be self-sufficient.🙂
    Good Luck and enjoy yourself

p.s.: here's the joke part concerning the temperature.
So the people are procrastinating about the 30 degrees hot weather?
WELL, in Bulgaria this weekend's gonna be extremely hot 30 too - 15C in Saturday, 15C in Sunday. 🤣😂😀

Very pragmatic approach to the build. You'll kick yourself in your own backside if you push and get low quality work. I do understand there is a limit but we've all got that "I have a friend in Thai" (or perhaps anywhere for that matter) story whose house is now falling apart in yr 3 cuz of poor workmanship. Good luck - everything is looking like it will be a banger upon completion.
