@@timhean sideways made a fantastic video about how Tarzan ruined the renaissance. There’s a reason Tarzan is never brought up by Disney, and the live action remake was made by Warner Bros.
This is my personal insight on all of these beyond successful animation studios. To start off, I think Illumination serves it's best by keeping on doing their usual. I mean sure, it's not the BEST at writing quality, but as a musical film lover, I love hearing the trendy, pop songs; it makes me super happy. Usually, I feel the urge to watch films from Illumination whenever I want good vibes or feel like having a good laugh, because dUh ALL scenes are not one dull moment (you have to agree on that one). Next up, Disney. In the past, whenever I hear the name "Disney" I immediately get excited, as a child, and I would commonly think of fairytale, princess, romance movies. And up to this day, I agree with the video, Disney suits best and retains its magical name by releasing films such as Frozen and Tangled, it just makes me wants to dream about a life I'd never have. Movies like, "Meet The Robinsons" though, I think they're not that bad. I enjoy the movie, 'twas a bit confusing, but it definitely shouldn't hurt us when Disney just wanted to make a "not so common" film. Although, they should at least just maybe try to put on at least an original music once in a while. Just saying😁❤️ 3rd to the last we have, Pixar! Gosh I think it's been awhile since I last watched a Pixar film😅 In this particular studio, I agree with what most people say, the story is just overall family friendly. I love how the studio usually creates non-human main characters to create such unique, quality stories. I actually have nothing that much to say about Pixar, but for all I know it's a great animation company. Their movies made me cry, laugh, and all that. It feels nostalgic to even just hear the film titles💙 And finally, Dreamworks🥰 I totes love how it's true to its name, haha. First off, they have a quite remarkable logo (is it just me or what) because in almost every movie, the intro of the logo differs according to the vibes of the film. That alone gives me interest about the story. I could personally say their films such as Up best represents their face, it's a calm movie, yet it doesn't bore you tf up. It made me shed tears too, also how could I not mention the perfect story writing. I feel like each movie has some thought put into, it really is so heart-warming to watch. 🥰
+ kyoto animation, studio bones, studio chizu, studio ponoc, laika studios, studio mir, comix wave films, studio trigger, mappa, and many more or is this a western animation studio feature only? 3D animation only? i mean, i love disney, pixar, dreamworks, and illumination has fun stuff. but if anyone asks me what are great animation studios, my list would definitely have a lot of japanese studios in them since they're one of the top leading countries for animation production. not to mention these studios create animated films and series for all ages and genres that western animation are too afraid to try aside from studio ghibli, i think the best studios right now includes kyoto animation, comix waves, laika (more because they're the best in stop motion and clay motion), and studio chizu
I'm glad you included Ghibli, I was afraid this would just be western stuff. Edit: Not that I dislike western studios but I get tired of anime being left out of animation discussions.
Man, that sucks. My Ghibli video was just scrapped entirely once. A minute long review of Princess Mononoke was ripped from the sight 😂 I know the feeling.
I liked Spirit Away, but its not my favorite, as my favorite has to be Whisper of the Heart, followed by Princess Monanoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Cat Returns, Kiki's Delivery Service.
I notice this video was posted BEFORE Wolfwalkers appeared on AppleTV toward the end of 2020. That's the only justification for omitting Cartoon Saloon as a contender for best animation studio. (Even though I'm waiting for the studio to follow it up with something new that comes close to Wolfwalkers.) Thank you for exempting Lilo and Stitch from the general run of mediocre Disney releases from the 2000s. That's one of their most underrated films, IMO.
I'd like to add studio Trigger to that line up. Cause if Ghibli is the Disney of Japan, then trigger is either the Pixar or DreamWorks without the stinkers. I'm leaning more towards DreamWorks cause it's edgier
I mean there are so many I could have included but I just took into account that companies like Sony just don’t have a very large movie pool compared to these so I didn’t wanna judge off of a limited pool
Who knows what daily battles they have to fight, tho all the good movies we have had, not just in animation, have been due to a select few people who love making them and making good ones. Most working craftspersons usually will have way more deeper understanding than execs or marketing suits, and these guys improve films, otherwise who knows what we would have... I want to believe Spielberg when he says, that film is not dead, this is a cycle and it will return... Most studios have to make sequels and marketable movies, to be able to negotiate making the good ones... I guess there's no bad studio, its just the nature of the beast...
@@prettypettyvideos4204 Honestly there is also the up and rising ufotable who kinda made demon slayer crazy popular but they more known for their tv series animation but they have pretty good and underrated ones like kara no kyoukai. I have a question why Walt Disney does not count sequels as separate movies. Sequels like Little mermaid 2&3, Lion king 2&3 Cinderela 2&3 just the name of few. @@timhean sideways made a fantastic video about how Tarzan ruined the renaissance. There’s a reason Tarzan is never brought up by Disney, and the live action remake was made by Warner Bros.
i agree , studio ghibli is insanely good but I'm kinda sad you didnt include kyoto animations or ufotable.
I love your assessment - Pets and The Minions are so arse! My kids like them but as an adult, I just want to put them in a head lock!
Dreamworks and Disney should star making hand drawn films again
Ghibli (mostly)
I was like"it's battle of Disney vs Pixar"but I allmost forgot about Studio Ghibli the true king
For me, Ufotable is the best animation studio.
Just saying😁❤️
3rd to the last we have, Pixar! It feels nostalgic to even just hear the film titles💙
And finally, Dreamworks🥰 I totes love how it's true to its name, haha. 🥰
Incorrect, .
1st Pixar
2nd Disney
3rd Sony Animations
Fail grades are:
1. DreamWorks
2. illumination
@@rudrakshkamath2071 it’s my opinion, so it’s not “incorrect”
I'm so happy you kept mentioning my favorite movie of all time, "Ratatouille"!
+ kyoto animation, studio bones, studio chizu, studio ponoc, laika studios, studio mir, comix wave films, studio trigger, mappa, and many more
or is this a western animation studio feature only? 3D animation only? i mean, i love disney, pixar, dreamworks, and illumination has fun stuff. but if anyone asks me what are great animation studios, my list would definitely have a lot of japanese studios in them since they're one of the top leading countries for animation production. not to mention these studios create animated films and series for all ages and genres that western animation are too afraid to try
aside from studio ghibli, i think the best studios right now includes kyoto animation, comix waves, laika (more because they're the best in stop motion and clay motion), and studio chizu
I would also include studio ufotable
I'm glad you included Ghibli, I was afraid this would just be western stuff.
Edit: Not that I dislike western studios but I get tired of anime being left out of animation discussions.
I think it would be 1.pixar 2.Disney (if we are only looking at movies and not other assets) 3. Dream Works (ive never watched studio ghbli)
You should watch ghibli movies like howls moving castle, wolf children,my neighbor Totoro etc
Watch Studio Ghibli’s movies. Just skip Earwig and the Witch, Tales from Earthsea, and Ocean Waves.
This video was a day altering experience. I enjoyed it a lot, dude.
What's up with the blur at 13:01? xx
Copyright, had to add it so that they didn’t restrict it
Man, that sucks.
(Even though I'm waiting for the studio to follow it up with something new that comes close to Wolfwalkers.)
Thank you for exempting Lilo and Stitch from the general run of mediocre Disney releases from the 2000s. That's one of their most underrated films, IMO.
Why are people so hard on Illumination on the Internet. Their movies are good.
Because illumination movies never make any sense, plus, I f**king hate Illumination
Conclusion: Illumination is ruining animation
That is correct 💯
I'd like to add studio Trigger to that line up. Cause if Ghibli is the Disney of Japan, then trigger is either the Pixar or DreamWorks without the stinkers. I'm leaning more towards DreamWorks cause it's edgier
Cartoon Saloon anybody?
Cartoon Saloon should be held in the same regard as disney and pixar. Hopefully they'll get more popular over time.
What’s bout sony pictures animation? Or paramount+animation? Or blue sky? Or 20th century fox animation?
I mean there are so many I could have included but I just took into account that companies like Sony just don’t have a very large movie pool compared to these so I didn’t wanna judge off of a limited pool
Sony and Blue Sky not being on are a bit of a bummer but nothing that this video said is invalidated by their absence. Great job bro
Really good vid!
Tbh there is also quite alot of studios that couldve been on this list
Yeah, none of them have enough content in my eyes. These are the juggernauts
@@prettypettyvideos4204 Honestly there is also the up and rising ufotable who kinda made demon slayer crazy popular but they more known for their tv series animation but they have pretty good and underrated ones like kara no kyoukai. Like in terms of being able to express I'd put them on par with Ghibli but they do not have enough content in terms of movies. But in terms of blending 3d and 2d they are one of the best in the world
Don’t forget Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, LAIKA, Toei Animation & Oriental Light & Magic Inc!
My favorite film from dreamworks is megamind and favorite dreamworks character is the main character of the film of the same name .
Wtf
thought this was a big channel for the production quality.....
That’s I really appreciate that! I hope my channel gives off that feel
we can all mutually agree dreamworks has impeccable animation just crap stories? (not including their classics but stuff like bad guys)
Kyoto Animation
I have a question why Walt Disney does not count sequels as separate movies. Sequels like Little mermaid 2&3, Lion king 2&3 Cinderela 2&3 just the name of few. But pixar counts its sequels as separate movies like Toy story next 3 movies, monster university And incredibles. I could use a explaination if anyone has it.
It’s because a lot of the sequels are DVD releases and don’t count as theater releases, Pixar’s sequels have been theater released.
Hey don’t go hating on meet the robisions
Pixar eassyyyy
Correct 💯
My Top Favorite Animation Studios
1. DreamWorks Animation Studio
2. Walt Disney Animation Studio
3. Pixar Animation Studio
5. Hanna-Barbera
I like the 4th place
Of you like spirited away, please go watch the tale of the princess kaguya. It might actually be better then spirited away.
For Me, Studio Ghibli is best ever animation stidio, see the details of lighting ❤😮
I think disney is by far the best, followed closely by pixar
You should give studio ghibli a shot. It took me a while to try them out but I do not regret it at all
@@prettypettyvideos4204 I have seen most of studio ghibli's films. They're great! Don't get me wrong, I love them :) But Disney, and by extension Pixar, are just juggernauts when it comes to quality animations. Story aside (I think it would be between pixar and ghibli) there is just something so special about the way cartoons look when done by disney. They've been the cream of the crop for almost a hundred years dude.
@@loayzc10 I totally get that. I love disney too, they just had a stain on their recent history of releases. Half of the Renaissance and the period after were just not Disney level that I personally knock them down but your point is totally valid.
@@prettypettyvideos4204 No studio has a perfect record
@@loayzc10 oh yeah, every single one has their flops
I think Pixar is a More Successful Animation Studio
Commercial or critical? They have huge box office hits, and some amazing movies, but their recent track record has not been up to par for the studio
That is correct 😁💯
Very good video, but I do disagree with Cars being a not good franchise but that’s just my personal opinion.
Where does Cartoon saloon fit in this? Also do you think Sony animation is worse than illumination?
Sony is too small to include imo and still way better than illumination (spiderverse is one of my favorite movies of all time). Cartoon saloon I haven’t watched to give a determination
You not lying man. Even Illumination made me want to watch all their movies because of how popular they were and since I thought popular movies were good I’d just watched them and so never really enjoyed them and lied about
I am extremely surprised at how many little subs you have
Is including ghibli even fair.
Shaft and Madhouse solos every studio in this video
Other studios makes movie for kid, Studio Ghibli makes you a kid
It's a tie between Disney and Pixar they invent the most technology and push the boundaries most often.
meet the robinsons and emperors new groove are gems, im tellin ya
The disrespect on the cars franchise is crazy.. cars 2 is bad but 1 and 3 are goated L childhood
Ay yo, don’t talk shit about meet the Robinsons. The rest of this video is really good tho
Anyone but Illumination
I think ardman deserved a mention... ;-;
Their movies aren't as "Serious" compared to studios like Pixar but their still good
Uhmmm. I might be wrong buuuut, where is Warner Brothers ? (Sorry my bad english im Brazilian)
the music makes perfect sense. it is just a different style than you are used to.
Those are Lo-fi covers of every studo's popular songs
I have a soft spot for Sony only because of open season do you like that film it was intriguing to watch right
the only good thing to come out of illumination is the first despicable me and the song "biggering", which was cut from the lorax. also, yeah no ghibli wins in a landslide
1st Pixar (best studio in my opinion)
2nd Dreamworks
3rd Disney
4th illumination
You might call me crazy for putting illumination in 3rd but I like some Of there films like Despicable me 1 and 2 secret life of pets 2 I only have 1 favourite Disney films Wreck it Ralph 1 I’m gonna watch Raya and the last dragon and I’m gonna see if it’s good and if it is good I’ll have 2 favourite Disney films
Edit: my favourite dream works films are Shrek shrek 2 shrek 4 puss in boots all kung fu panda films and all Madagascar films and Wallace and gromit curse of the were rabbit and my favourite Pixar films are Toy story Toy story 2 toy story 3 and toy story 4 and cars 1 monsters inc and monsters university finding Nemo incredibles 2 and onward and soul
Edit I’ve watched the illumination films and I realise how bad they are (I only like despicable me 1) and I’ve watched some Disney films and I love some of them films so I put illumination at the bottom
What about the Disney renaissance era with The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, etc? Not a fan of those?
@@prettypettyvideos4204 no not really
Edit: well I liked the lion king remake so I have 2 favourite Disney films
@@SWFCFAN_ Dude, I respect your opinion, but you’re high.
@@prettypettyvideos4204 He seems a bit young. A kid from 2000s for something Walt Disney has produced such legends that in my opinion even pixar finds it hard to match.
@@SWFCFAN_ Than you are right not some people but almost everybody will think that you are insane. Or just quite young to have a proper judgement of animated movies.
Unpopular opinion: Cartoon Saloon is the best
The og’s now UFOTABLE IS THE BEST!
In art style and quality......not that good in story.
Pixar
Pixar (Best: Toy Story-A classic that has stood the test of time)(Worst: Turning Red-The concept is offensive)
Disney (Best: Aladdin-I have a blast everytime I watch it)(Worst: Meet the Robinsons-The animation here is bad)
Sony Animation (Best: Mitchells vs the Machines-An inventive and unique experiment)(Worst: Emoji Movie-One of the worst films ever made)
Dreamworks (Best: Kung Fu Panda 2-Has some incredible action scenes)(Worst: Shrek the Third-An embarrassment to the series)
Blue Sky (Best: Peanuts Movie-It’s just a great movie, that’s all)(Worst: Epic-I completely forgot it, it’s not epic)
Illumination (Best: Despicable Me 3-Took the trilogy to the next level)(Best: Minions-It’s crap, thats it)

Ok I gotta jump in here and say meet the robinsons really slaps and is far better than movies like Frozen
Bro Frozen is best too
Heck yeah.
I agree with you mostly, but I gotta tell you some things. In a calm, professional manner.
1. Cars is NOT horrible.
Cars 1 and 3 imo are good. I think this franchise gets hated too much just because Cars 2 exists. But you’re entitled to your opinion.
2. Pixar IS in the Prime now.
Yeah they made Cars 2, Brave, M.U., and the Good Dinosaur, but they’re back making good movies.
You got Inside Out, Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Soul, Onward, Luca. And upcoming Turning Red and Lightyear.
Pixar was the best in my opinion
Pixar is one of the best animation studios on planet Earth
I totally agree with you but I didn’t really agree with your Disney segment and I thought you forgot about some other good animated studios.
I like pixar and dreamworks oohh shht
Pixar hits you in the feels, dreamworks has some of the best movies ever, but man are the most inconsistent. I also hate supporting petty asshole Jeffery Katzenberg, but everyone in power is probably garbage so you know, it could be worse

KyoAni. Next question
Hold Up where Sony animations? Still good video Sony DEFFINTLY wouldn't of won so its not a big deal. years. Anyways here's my ranking.
1.Pixar Think of all the cult classing Pixar made when they peeked, I cant think of a single bad movie from toy story-toy story 3, besides like cars or a bugs life, but they aren't necessarily bad movies.
2.Dreamwork's This was close between Disney but what sealed the deal for me was there newer stuff bad guy and puss in boots were such SOLID movies, I also heard that were getting kung Fu panda 4 and Shrek 5... and trolls 3 BUT AFTER THAT the future looks great for dreamwork's!
3.Disney Come on man its Disney! From Snow white to Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Lio and Stitch, Wreck it Ralph, Enchanto the list goes on! You have to have respect for the first animation studio it just amazing (beside pocahontas, chicken little, dinosaur, ralph breaks the internet, the black cauldron, sword in the stone and strange world
4.ghibli I'm putting it this high so I don't get hate also I liked spirited away
5.Sony animations SPIDERMAN!
6. Blue sky L BOZO!!!!!
7.Ilumination
Kyoto animation sir Definitely shaft studios and maybe mappa
Anyway it’s not illumination
What about Sony Pictures Animation
You forgot Sony lmao
5. Illumination
4. Disney
3. Dreamworks
2. Pixar
1. Ghibli
spit down on dreamworks all u want but if it wasnt for shrek. 3d animation would still be seen as kids medium
many more is a good thing.
You forgot Sony but they’re not the best
