It's 30 seconds OR the entire match. If the match only lasts 20 seconds, then as long as you've been holding LP since the match started, it still works.
YourMKArcadeSource One time I held down LP for most of the round and then swapped it for HP for the hell of it, released HP from sweep distance after FINISH HIM and it still worked! This Fatality seems to have more than a few quirks to it.
+YourMKArcadeSource there's an easier way to do this. Before the screen fades to black and goes to the final round start holding LP. This causes a glitch where u can charge it for far less than 30 seconds to get the fatality. It's always worked for me.
