The two jazz packs sound good to me! Some decent grooves in there that make it easy to develop a new composition too.

Also, in 30 years of music-making I've somehow never tried BFD.
The standouts for me were the jazz brush kit and the vintage, but saying that, all of the expansions have clear differences and uses. Sometimes when companies do this, it feels and sounds like the changes are quite minor just so they can market a higher number of products. Definitely a brand that I'll be taking a closer look at.

Cakewalk's built-in drum kit is similar, but seems to have one advantage: the samples are acceleration sensitive, meaning: depending on how hard you hit, the sound changes a little bit. Produces an even more natural feeling.✌️
BFD does this in spades.

@@w-hiskyIt has many different samples for each drum, cymbal, etc., to alter how they sound at different velocities. I think it's possible to choose how many you want to use depending on memory, drive space, sound quality.
@@mrdave740a Ok, so BFD has this velocity-sensitive samples? That's cool! But if so, it seems to be very subtile; I was not able to hear much of a difference. 🤔

How is this player incorporated into a track with a chain of patterns?
If I own other BFD (non player) libraries, can this plugin use them?
Listening on my phone (sorry device I was using when I got the notice), I'd say Core, Jazz Brushes & Jazz Sticks. This may change after listening on studio monitors.
Yeah, I liked Jazz Sticks
Americana (both) and Jazz brushes stood out. I'm wondering if my BFD 2 midi can be "migrated" over. Groove Monkee has free and paid midi packs that are tweaked for various drum VSTs and BFD is one. I have some of their midi drum packs and easily loaded them in AD2, Groove Agent4, SSD5 the freebie, etc.
I like Manda Audio MT drums. Like the intros. And the kit sounds great. I paid the bucks for the Kontakt Studio drummer, and I'm miffed that it doesn't have intro's or the ability to set up arrangements like this player, and MT. Need a kit with some Neil Peart inspired high toms!
The old layout that had two swing settings, had random play of the grooves and fills, is gone. Unless im blind, all the magic is gone. Im speaking of the vst. Also the bfd license manager is not available for download anymore, so i cant unauthorized my products like Platinum drums to re authorize in the new space.
The drums used to arrange themselves based on the performances of other instruments. If mixed well, its a print and move on deal. There was so much to adjust and play with.
So this new setup is void of any magic to stumble upon. Im super sad and hope im just being dumb with this. Please help if I'm wrong. 😢
As a longtime user of BFD3 - which is the premier drum plug-in - that I use connected to Roland kit, this new player is somewhat lacking in customization. It's too bad that InMusic, which purchased BFD, has allowed that legacy product to languish in favor of this stripped down version. Maybe good for music producers - non-drummers, but very disappointing to drummers who've relied on the versatility and extensive expansion packs of BFD3
The drum examples at the end all sounded rather lacking in a bit of top-end.
I’d heard of BFD, then bought an Alesis Nitro Max, which included a free expansion, so I downloaded the player and tested it out. Do you know if these are multi-layered, velocity varied samples? Sounds more like single samples.
The Player kits are all multi-channel and multi-layered.
What application uses this free download? Can I use it with logic Pro?

Just to clarify... The expansions mentioned are BFD "Player" Expansions. I.e. you don't need BFD3 for these.

I went to the site, downloaded and registered as user. Now it is telling me to put in a serial number. I have looked everywhere for the serial number, but there is none. It won’t let me go past this point.

Sounds great but quite static in terms of number of samples/variations of each part of the kit so sounded to me more drum machine than authentic... it's free so what do you expect.

This is a memory hog, it takes a long time to unpack the zip file, and every time you go to use it you have to log on to the website. You also have to agree to get spammed with advertising. Unless you are a professional with a very expensive computer dedicated to audio recording skip this.
Free plugin ok, but I already own Toontrack drums so not for me. Nice kits though.

I'm a fan of you for years now. But - Please, don't make confusing titles to your content just to attract viewers.... Free player, but actually not free cause you have to pay for the drums to make it run.

Hey man, thanks for watching. Actually, the core library is free, and very good. I really think many people could make great music with that. The other library libraries were very much just an "oh, and also". Sorry for the misunderstanding.
