  • Our first packraft trip ever. Finse to Mogen in Norway, the hardangervidda national park. Couldn't have asked for better weather but water level was low. July 28 to August 4. Fun fact, the boats were DIY and we finished them the night before we set out!

Walking over snow patches the way you do at the 4 minute mark can be extremely dangerous, don't do it. You can see the river that runs beneath the snow, the snow patches hollow out from the inside and in a worst case scenario you could fall through. And we're not talking about a safe fall here, it could be several meters down, you could break your leg, your back, or just straight up die.
Walk around snow patches like, especially if you can see water running below.

Nice movie, nice tour - in beautiful area. Any extraordinary experience you wanna share? Surprises, gear hacks, navigation etc. (Planning to copy your trip, maybe next summer). It would be most appreciated.;-))

Thanks! We included details such as time of year and maps in case someone got tempted :) Water level was low, I guess it's better if you go earlier. We also missed out on the cloudberry season, darn. The glacial lake had swollen by several km(!) compared to our maps, that was a surprise! There are no large trails from Litlos to Mogen so bring a good map that include the tiny paths used by those who fish along the lakes when you need to portage. There are fishing permits from Litlos down to the commune border, beyond that is private land where fishing is "prohibited". We asked around and people said it was ok as long as you don't overdo it, however we did not have much time for fishing so a tip is to schedule extra time for that! We took a train from Oslo to Finse and on our way back we took the ferry from Mogen to Skinnarbu where we switched to bus via Rjukan to Oslo. Go tur!

@@gorangranstrom2185 Thanks a lot for your kind and quick respons. Very useful input. Good point whit maps showing Litlos - Mogen. We are considering the trip without packrafts (due to weight etc), but not really decided yet. When it come to fishing in the so called private areas, I usually take a few small fish for dinner. Never ever experienced control. ;-))... I some landowner comes alone, I'll live with the eventual yelling..;-)).... Thx again. Hope you guys consider returning to Hardangervidda (or others places) in the future. Ha en trivelig førjulstid. Cheers

@@EirikArnesen I'm sure you can do that, but is that the right thing to do?
