I switched to Mac Studio last year, base model and I love it! 9 to 5 is in the graphic printing industry and hobby at home with FCP and Logic on a mac book pro M1. that was ok, but LOVE the Mac Studio so after waiting and waiting, I bought another M1 Studio for home a few months ago. Video and audio is crazy cool..... and then they just released the M2 Mac Studio. 🤣
I just switched from RT back to PLAP Academy. Great performance. Thanks for all the followers pal..Looking forward to your OS upgrade videos in the future..
I just switched from a fairly powerful PC running Ableton Live to an older M1 MacBook Pro and the Mac is so much smoother and I have had no issues. I also ended up moving over to Logic Pro and the few VSTs I have were easy to install, except some older ones run into security issues but you can bypass that if you know they are safe. The computer detected my USB interface and all USB hardware instruments right away, no drivers had to be installed. It was such a good experience. Not to mention I can run a much lower buffer size on the Mac. I don’t use many software synths or plugins, I prefer hardware synthesizers and sometimes I play parts live to tape so low latency is very important. The AU plugins are from GarageBand which comes with new Macs. Kind of a nice bonus for Ableton users. And obviously Logic also comes with a ton of plugins and it’s a great DAW for new users at just $199. PCs are great but considering how affordable and powerful the new M2 Mac Minis are, I think they are going to become more popular for music production.
I upgraded from a 2018 MacBook Pro with a six core i7 for some of those same reasons. And I just got the entry level 2020 M1 Mac mini, and it still blows the doors of the laptop. And best of all, I've never heard the fan go on once. It's soooo quiet. I found the same thing with USB hubs - everything seems to work great.
IMHO I think Macs are the way to go for music production. I started my music production journer on a pc using nuendo and went to a mac after about 2 years. I could tell the difference in performance right away. My mac is smooth like butter most of the time until I get a very rare error. My mac is old (2010) but everything works like it should and I'm still a happy camper. I use Logic X, which I love!! So many capabilities. I'm so glad it all worked out for you Steve. Semed like you had a wonderful experience. Hooray for that!! 🍾 🎉

Lol, all good. Apple does that thing when you buy something, the newer, better one comes out a few weeks later.

Aye. Thanks for the heads up about the AU plugins.

Yup, solid performance from the M2 Mini so far.

Aye, it works, and it's smooth. The process of swapping did take about 48 hours, but mostly because of the plugin downloads.
I'm happy with your success in this endeavour, Mr. Hershey!
Seems pretty smooth now.
