- Paul McCartney sings Frank Loesser's 'On A Slow Boat To China'
I'd like to get you
On a slow boat to China,
All to myself alone.
To get you and keep you in my arms evermore,
Leave all your lovers
Weeping on the faraway shore.
Out on the briny
With the moon big and shinny,
Melting your heart of stone.
Darling, I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China,
All to myself alone.

This was a cute, light hearted performance in honor of Frank Loesser's music. Anyone who can't stand to see Paul sing anything but Beatles music, you're taking this way too seriously.
Paul McCartney can do anything in terms of music...Hey Jude, Helter Skelter or On a slow boat.. he is a kind of God!!
Monkberry Moon Delight, Oh Darling, Maybe I’m Amazed......
My mom sang this to me when I was a baby 72years ago!
Never in 40 years have I seen him do a hole song live without an instrument of some sort. This will be one for the history archives!
I wish my late great uncle Harold could hear this. Just to show him that a rock and roll star can indeed sing the standards. ❤
Paul is so sweet !! So humble and personable !!
this video is a gem. shows another dimension to paul, songs he likes from frank loesser...
Just so adorable! He obviously still has it...:)His voice sounds great as always. Very cute.
Music definitely transcends TIME...GENRE and MUSIC GENIUSES....
I am Teary Eyed...
WOW!!!!
I LOVE THIS SONG, I LOVE PAUL McCARTNEY THAKS FOR THE VIDEO IS AMAZING!!!!!! ♥
Great cover, Paul!!!I love it!!!
He does a nice job on this song!
🙄😐 Not!
Don't pay any attention to Clare; she hasn't gotten any in a long time. McCartney, as a songwriter himself, has great respect for the work of Frank Loesser and it shows in his performance.
The great thing about this performance is that it breaks down the divide that happened with the dawning of rock 'n' roll which unhappily seperated the great geniuses of songwriting like Berlin, Porter, Kern, Rodgers, Gershwin and, of course, the wonderful Frank Loesser from the beat merchants of Chuck Berry, Little Richard et al. Paul is in both camps producing a beauty like Here There and Everywhere and a beat classic like I Saw Her Standing There. Paul knows those old guys were truly great.
I couldn't agree more. Sir Paul always showed an appreciation and even reverence for the songs of the older era, and showed it in many of his masterpieces (e.g. "When I'm Sixty-four"). He manages to be at ease in either era, and it's wonderful to see him display that. Grand Prize.
Really nice - I guess this was a dream coming true for him being on Broadway. Well, to me he hasn´t got anything to prove- he´s the best! I think he deserves a nice family life now and some happiness. In Europe please.
Paul mccartney is so sweet ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Oh my goodness - was just looking up this song and what a RIDICULOUS surprise! Yohooo!
Amazing, like everything that he does!
I think it's neat he did this great older tune, there are so many good ones and I'm sure he gets tired of the same old same old. I loved it, so cute of him.
I happen to love this song but Paul could sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and I would be totally thrilled!
Love this man
Love it!!!
Beautiful song and good performance!
Outstanding rendition of a timeless classic. Thank you.
So sweet voice
Paul ! So humble and sweet.
Paul is so personable and humble !!!!
Ah, the song my mum sang to me on the day I was born.
@joedee1957 You are so right. Why the Beatles were the greatest group of all time is because they absorbed everything, they didn't think oh we're only rock'n'roll..they had no problem playing Till There Was You and their playing, with George particularly brilliant on guitar for that song, produced the best ever version of that show song. Till There Was You was written by Meredith Willson a protege of Loesser and was published by Frank Music, Loesser's company, now owned by Paul! All true greats.
What an amazing song and revue show!
aww what a sweetheart he is.
A bunch of us from around the world were reminiscing, a moment ago at BERMUDA DAYDREAMIN,' about the days of “smaller cruise ships.” I shared Jimmy Buffett's over-the-top rendition of “(I'd Like to Get You) On a Slow Boat to China.” Immediately, the intuitive genius that is UA-cam gave us THIS gem, I've never seen before, have you?
Sir Paul, remembering his family's “New Year's eve sing-alongs, with my Dad playin' the piano - my aunties and uncles singing them. Right now I'd like to do one of those songs for you,” Frank (Guys & Dolls) Loesser's SLOW BOAT TO CHINA.
Don't miss Paul's word's of introduction; but if you must, pick it up at around the 1:55 mark
Celebrated elsewhere this day (3/12/2024) search " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
"do you know Slow Boat to China?...Slow Boat to China...its in BFlat - do ya know it?"
hahahaha i dont know i laughed so much in that part - also the ending was such adorable Paul:
"get me, im on braodway!"
Ridiculous! Fabulous! The Goat!
Never saw this before today! Fun.
Genius♥

This was so strange, but I like it.
Amazing! I loved it!
amazing!!!!!! =)
Bravooooooo!
that's absolutely true.
Super Cute!!!
My favorite version of this is by Kay Kyser and his Orchestra.
KE7SFR listen to Jimmy Rosselli
McCartney can no longer sing many of his old songs for example the classic Maybe I'm Amazed because his vocal range has drastically reduced over the years, however no one can write a song like him that talent he will never lose.
YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP (wonder whether this expresses my feelings sufficiently) YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PAUL LOVE I
¡Precious, Paul!
Awesome!
The Master
Maravilhoso em tudo o que faz!!!!!
Hello Billy.
Oh shit you guys are everywhere. You know, you should really consider getting a life and stop spreading false rumors about Paul. you're not a beatle fan. You're just a nutjob who believes in a fake ass conspiracy theory. No disrespect sir. But You can do so much better than this. There's billions of proof that disclaim your claim.
Ol Bill, Sure don't know his left from his right !
O meu Beatles é Paul.
The Master
Paul could have sung this better when he was younger, still I like his effort. Bravo!
He can do it all
Never saw this before
Never saw this before
Never saw this before
❤
I live my life with no masters
Oh yeah...
There's a version by Emile Ford on Pye circa 1960 which is kinda good
Thanks Dahl
Billy doing his thing again
For fucks sake brian, paul was not replaced nor he died in a car crash. Even if he did die in that supposed car crash don't you think we would've known by now? Paul was pretty fucking famous back in the 60s. He was the cute beatle, the most talented beatle. And if he died believe john would've talked. I refuse to believe john would have kept quiet about his best friend dead but mostly I refuse to believe that paul's dead and the rest of his family went along with it. If I was Jim and my son died in a car crash I would want the world to hear the truth. There's a billions reasons why paul couldn't be replaced, I'm not gonna list them all of course. Here let me put it this way. (1 paul's family. Paul was raised by the most part by his father since his mom died when he was just a little kid. And According to Mike (his brother) they were very close so I'm pretty sure Jim would've talked. (2 his girlfriend: at the time of his supposed death Paul was in a relationship with actress jane Asher. Now, jane knew paul very well. She knew what he looked and sounded like. So if Paul was replaced by a lookalike don't you think jane would've noticed the differences between Paul and the lookalike most importantly don't you think she would've talked? That should be enough to debunk that silly theory.
Would love to hear you do more standards
Never saw this before
I wonder who the band is.
This was a rehearsal for Kisses on the bottom...mmm Paul is always thinking of what happening? if...
come la canta lui sembra una canzonetta da varietà...però rimane un grande
ポールはジャズスタンダードも歌うんだ 他にもTill There Was You もビートルズメンバーで歌ってました。Ohダーリンもスローバラードで歌うとイイ曲だ
Won’t you come home Bill Bailey...
The song starts @ 2:10
Now I know where tony blair got thoes hand movements
Paul is my hero and cannot do anything wrong ! BUT without a Bass or any instrument he did seem a tad nervous ! But good job anyway ! Again I salute you Sir Paul !
Quizás más que nervioso emocionado 👍
Respect, Sir...but...Dean Martin's hard to beat, here...!!
Yep! ☺️
dido93 I agree with you 1000%. Dean would turn over in his grave if he could hear this, as indeed would his Rat Pack pallies Frank and Sammy.
Linda Shelley 🤣🤣🤣👍👋👋
Dean Martin made fun of this song, BTW. It was a joke to him. Sammy Davis jr was better, and Ella Fitzgerald.
@@yes2day100 Dean invited you to have fun with him, whenever he could add something else to his singing. He had a velvet and manly voice that turned every song into a unique one.
hahah i think its really funny/annoying when people say that someone 'needs no introduction'......while giving an introduction
love ya, paul!
Yeah, that's a pet peeve of mine as well. I would like to see, just once, the host say,"He(or she) needs no introduction.." and immediately drop the mic and walk off the stage. If such a video exists on UA-cam, please let me know !
I noticed that, too. He seemed a bit uncomfortable.
I love him and think he's a genius, but how strange to see him singing without playing an instrument, he looks so uncomfortable.
@MacRief Its all in key. He did well for a sexigenarian.
he sang jazz? not bad hahaha
He looks uncomfortable here. Probably doesn't know what to do with his hands.
The best I have heard Paul singing! He really needs to stick with the old standards...and not a grey hair on his head?
この曲は私の人生を変えました
terrible quality was this done in the 50s
He's no Dean Martin, that's for sure. Kudos for taking a foray into jazz singing, but he never had that kind of chops.
...si ma da come parla sta raffreddato!!!Cmq immenso Paul!!!
He sounds as if he has a cold.
He has been sounding like this since the late 90s. He should really stop touring and give his voice a rest. He has been singing since the early 60s, if he was to retire i personally would not complain. And I do not mean that in a bad way. What I'm saying is I truly appreciate his love for music but he's almost 80 and can't hit the high notes like he used to. He should Really think about retiring.
Ella followed by Dee Dee, Sir Paul doesn't even move the meters! :(
Truly horrendous
Ah hahahaha
thats not the real Paul
Philip Seymour Hoffman's version was much better.
UnconventionaI Kay Kyser is my personal favorite, I've been hooked to him since I've heard who's Yehoodi.
Lame!~
Master my ass
Not very good. Bette Midler is the best.
+Larry Hinze sorry Al Hibler did it best
He sucks.
Larry Hinze yes with Barry Manilow on The Today Show
Um, Ella Fitzgerald
@@brothertaro2008 Yes. Hands down.
Ugh. Talk about being out of your element.
Not in his element! Leave this kind of music to the top crooners only (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joni James, Peggy Lee etc.,)
