I’m 23 and I would list Barbie movies as some of my all time favorite movies- My favorites are the Fairytopia trilogy, the 12 dancing Princesses, Barbie Mariposa, Barbie and the Diamond Castle, Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus and the Princess and the Pauper. Alongside Disney movies and Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows, Barbie movies are one of the things I just can’t grow out of.

One of the best things about being an early 2000s baby you get to see Barbie movies throughout the years. Every time we went to the library or a new one came out I got to watch it with my mom and sister.
It’s crazy to think Tim Curry, Anjelica Houston, Kelsey Grammer, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and Andrea Martin have all played villains in Barbie movies.
Crazy thing is, I forgot about that but my mom recognized the voice of Gothel. I didn’t know who they were. I was just a kid at that time

I love how old Barbie movies are all based on classic stories, but have a modern twist. It fits Barbie's figure so well! She's a classic, of course, but is always changing.

Princess and the pauper was genuinely my life🥺. I honestly loved Barbie as a young girl and what it taught me. My whole wedding was pink and so is my home. My husband and I get called Barbie and Ken regularly 🤣

Saaaaaaaame thing everything, I loved that cassette so much, I watched it all the time! It sooo solidified my admiration for ballet. Now I’m 26 and I just cried because I don’t remember what happened to my Barbie Nutcracker doll 😭 (and the song from the Princess and the Pauper is just my favorite)

I'm turning 30 this year and I remember back then, every year during Christmas, I would always go watch the Nutcracker ballet whether it's at the ballet theater or at the movie theater watching the performance live broadcast. I would like to get back into this routine.

Island Princess has been my favorite since I was a little girl, but I have fond memories of taking a paintbrush and pretending to paint the walls just like Rapunzel.

When I was still a 7 year old little boy my mom let me bought Rapunzel in DVD. I watched it several times back then. I definitely have a soft spot for it. Anyways im into horror now but i wont forget Barbie (Rapunzel) tho.

One thing I loved about the first decade of Barbie movies is that while most of the voices were professional voice actors, there's always one big-name star they brought in for the villain. This was my introduction to Catherine O'Hara, Tim Curry, Martin Short, Anjelica Houston, among others.

To be fair Barbie in Nutcracker is probably the best adaptation that has been put on the screen of the ballet and novel.

This made my day! My childhood in a whole list! The Nutcracker and Swan Lake films made me fall in love with ballet.
For me the highlights are "12 Dancing Princesses", "Diamond Castle", and "Pink Shoes". I can attribute my lifelong obsession with folktales to Barbie unintentionally adapting ATU 709 for "Diamond Castle".
Barbie was so iconic. But I don't understand why they had to change the formula. The new Barbie movies are so silly and pointless. The plots are not nearly as engaging as they were. So sad we won't have good Barbie movies like we used to

Why I love it even more now - it is closer to Tchaikovsky's original Swan Lake story (the ballet prouductions changed the story, so on stage, it is not the original from 1877; the original Swan Lake included the realm of fairies and Odette was not a princess, but the crown was magical and protected her from the evil sorcery (; )

Here’s an ironic twister for ya.~ You guys remember Sango from Inuyasha? She is Barbie.~ Remember her soon to be husband in Inuyasha Miroku?~ (Pardon if I spelled his name wrong.) Yeah, he is a voice in Barbie and the Nutcracker. Voicing the Nutcracker Prince.~ Funny how they meet later in Inuyasha and their characters get married and have kids.~ I love how characters like that end up don’t you?~

When I was a boy, I used to watch Barbie movies, and I enjoyed most of them.
I also thought ‘A Fairy Secret’ & ‘Mariposa and the Fairy Princess’ had particularly good messages - the former showing how communication is key to reconciliation & the latter with demonstrating how your own past misjudged actions have consequences & not to expect the worst from outsiders to your culture.
