I love all of them no joke
favorite animated opening song is The Lion King II Simba's Pride
Great spirits from brother bear
Herkules
Too strong for you?
Very insulting to songwriters.
Foolish list.
Fun fact: The woman that voices Moses mother actually voiced her and sang this song in every single dub. And she mastered it. In my native language her singing is just as beautiful and she pronounced everything beautifully
Yup, her name is Ofra Haza and she is so talented. I was shocked when I first learned that she managed to sing so perfectly in so many languages.
That a serious ear for tone and dialect especially while also remembering a tempo and lyrics for each song in that new language. I didn’t know this but it’s freaking impressive thanks for the knowledge share.
Ofra Haza only sang 18 out of up to 30 (No real info on how many dubs there were). There's video compilations of the dubs of the first bit of Yocheved with subtitles of the language and who sang it (Names of some of the singers couldn't be found anywhere despite the audio existing).
@Gi Gi They did! They thought she was so beautiful that they wanted to animate her into the movie
R.I.P. Ofra Haza. The greatest talent on this whole list.
The Prince of Egypt songs and animation are top tier. Hard to believe how old it is.
Next year will be its 25th anniversary. I was 6 when it came out.
The opening still gives me chills every time.
Talking about a timeless masterpiece 😍
Makes me cry every time!
Through Heaven’s Eyes is the masterpiece in this film.
"Arabian Nights" from Aladdin deserves an honorable mention. But yeah, Prince of Egypt is god-tier (literally).
It's such an ear worm, thanks for that, now I have to go listen to it😘
I’ve been looking for this comment. Thank you!
I feel like Disney animated movies should've had their own list. Lots of great opening numbers. I love "Arabian Nights" and "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast and another great opening number is "The Family Madrigal" from Encanto, they should've at LEAST been honourable mentions.
Agree🐐🤎
I was gonna say the same thing. I was waiting for them to show Aladdin
I’m an atheist, and even I can’t deny the Prince of Egypt’s opening sequence to be a true masterpiece, with one of the most emotionally compelling stories to match.
Bruh who WOULDNT love that opening
Lol not sure what being an athiest has to do with liking a masterfully written song!
Same!
Yes! As a Wiccan I even think this movie is amazing! I've watched it over and over even as an adult
I'm raised Catholic and convinced my 13 yr old atheist son to watch it because of it's beautiful artistry. He now claims it's hands down his favorite movie and one of the most beautiful animated films he's ever seen.
The Prince of Egypt is so underrated! Deliver Us, When You Believe, and Plagues are some of the greatest songs in movie history imo
I get chills in every single song
Through Heaven’s Eyes was a joyful masterpiece of a song, as well. I often listen to it when I’m feeling down because it’s great at lifting your spirits.
Literary every song in the movie is a master piece. All I Wanted is one of my favorite songs of all time even though is super short. It's still so beautiful
Probably my favourite movie of all time, it's truly a work of art 👏👏👏
Playing With The Big Boys is such a bop ngl
I feel the need to remind everyone that Hans Zimmer was involved with both the Lion King AND the Prince of Egypt!! Makes sense as he’s mastered the ability to make audiences cry!!!
I'm more into Prince of Egypt than the Lion King. Zimmer also did Road to El Dorado
so, I'm not the only one... lol
Hans Zimmer has done many films with great soundtracks, not just these two films
He also did Hunchback's soundtrack.
@@ADragonAmongRoses No he didn’t. That was Alan Menkin.
The entire soundtracks for both Hunchback of Notre Dame and Prince of Egypt didn't have to go as hard as they did, but I think it's safe to say we're all so glad they did.
Literally my favorite animated movies. They're just both so gorgeous and moving.
Hellfire is on my regular playlist
@@desireedphelps mine too, its such a haunting and dark song, it gives me the creeps in all the best ways. frollo is one of the only disney villains i can say i truly hate
@@desireedphelps i always felt weird doing the same, glad to know i’m not alone! it’s such a great song LOL (obviously frollo is not great but. yknow)
It's great to see The Prince of Egypt getting the recognition it deserves. "Deliver Us" never fails to give me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Plagues is even better than Deliver Us, and it's already really hard to top the line "Elohim, god on high, can you hear your people cry"
"Hunchback" and "Prince of Egypt" have two of the most epic openings ever! Hard to believe the guy who did "Wicked" wrote the songs for them. Stephen Schwartz FTW!
Whoa, what?!
That just blew my mind
💯💯💯💯
@@olvialee7221 yup. Steven Schwartz also did Pocahontas with Allen Menkin
Not really if you know his history with the stage and Broadway shows. He is a talented composer that understands the formula to get it in your head. Wicked is just another hit under his belt.
I said to myself "Damn, what could beat hunchback and tarzan?" and then it was the prince of Egypt and I was like... okay that's fair
Ikr Tarzan wasn’t even on the list though. It was just an honorable mention
@@taylorstyles7337 I feel like Tarzan should have been on there man
SAME I was like excuse you what is better than bells of notre dame and circle of life and then boom I basically facepalmed myself and was like.... aah well, naturally, of course, yes.
Watching that as a kid was pretty intense.
Tarzan still gets me
I think the fact that to date if you play All Star, people will say “it’s the Shrek song” really speaks volumes about how iconic that sequence was
The Shrek movies really knew how to use music.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a top 3 Disney soundtrack, and I will die on this hill. “The Bells of Notre Dame” is a chilling, incredible opening, “Hellfire” is arguably the best Disney villain song of all time, and that’s not even mentioning “Out There” or “God Help the Outcasts.” Pretty much every single song on that soundtrack aside from the one the gargoyles do is an absolute banger
God help the outcasts is such a gorgeous song. I still listen to it sometimes and it is deeply stirring
Every single song from Hunchback packs such a strong emotional and musical punch, it's amazing. Can't get bored of them. Storytime: for a while I lived behind a big church, and the bell would ring on the hour according to the hour's number. One day I was coming home, listening to The Bells of Notre Dame with headphones. During the epic climax of the song I was looking up at the church, and suddenly the bell started ringing...the chills I got were indescribable. Somehow that song became even more powerful for me since then.
Sorry for the shameless plug, but I made a piano medley on my channel of Hunchback of Notre Dame and Les Miserables, because they're both based on Victor Hugo novels and both have great music. Anyway I agree it has great music and "Out There" was a perfect theme song for quarantine lol
Prince of Egypt has one of the best soundtrack in animation history. Ofra Haza had done an amazing job with her role in this song (the voice of Yocheved - Moses’ mother). Ofra Haza had learned to sing her part in 18 different languages for this performance. The amount of thought and investment in this movie is phenomenal.
Ofra Haza was an amazing singer with such a beautiful voice.
immediately
They even drew the character to look like her, so sad she died in 2000, her voice was just magical.
RIP fora haza 😞
Loved her since childhood
Of course, being a Hebrew singer herself, she would have, of course, known Hebrew.
@@thomasecker9405 Yiddish is not Hebrew. Semitic never used the letters V or P. Not even Egyptians and Sumerians used those letters.
Now that we’re celebrating Prince of Egypt, let’s get the movie version of When We Believe on Spotify already! There’s only the Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston version.
It's on there now! :)
I agree. I like their version but the movie version is so much more emotional and an million times better. Whitney and Mariah’s version is just too pop and doesn’t have that same emotion when listening to the song. Especially with all the runs they do which gets annoying as fuck at times the more I listen to the song. I especially love the part when the Hebrew chant comes in and the rest of the song after that. Hell, all the songs from the movie is epic. I don’t know if WatchMojo ever did a list of the top 10 Prince of Egypt songs(they probably did) but they should do a list with all the songs. I also want to see WatchMojo do a top 10 list of end songs from animated movies.
Prince of Egypt was also made into a stage musical.
I still called Prince Of Egypt one of the greatest movie in history, glad I was born in 1998 when the movie came out.
That’s weird, I’ve had access to the movie version on spotify for a few years at least.
I’ve got both versions on my cartoon playlist.
“Lilo & Stitch” has the ultimate opening song. I’m surprised it wasn’t even an ‘almost considered’ choice.
Agreed! Love He mele no lilo
True!!
Yes!
Maybe because the film doesn't open with the song, it opens with the trial of Juumba and Stitch?
@@kimmccarthy7747 Anastasia doesnt open with the song either. It opens with Rasputin coming toAlexander Palace and speaking his curse, ending with most of the Romanows dying to the revolution and Anastasia getting lost when she tried to escape with her grandmother.
The high note at the end of Bells of Notre Dame will forever send shivers down my spine!
There’s a barbershop quartet from Sweden- The Ringmasters- and they have a Hunchback barbershop medley that is truly gorgeous! I get chills every time!
I was looking for this comment. That's crazy talent!
"The Bells of Notre Dame" from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996 film)", "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King (1994 film)", and "Deliver Us" from "The Prince of Egypt" are definitely the most powerful opening songs.
I completely agree!
Yes I agree!
Yes!!! Very well deserved top 3 👏🏼
Definitely in animation, but not over all
I totally agree
Surprised *"Arabian Nights"* wasn't on here... but *"Deliver Us"* definitely deserved its spot
I was expecting Arabian Nights, myself, since it's in a lot of these vids.
It's honestly one of my faves.
@@familyoftacticaldroids309 I rewatched it and could understand why it didn't make the cut, the opening alone isn't that epic, especially when compared to the 2019 remake (Also, I just now saw your name... *Mad Respect* )
Ur absolutely right
Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face...
Still get chills from Hunchback's and Prince Of Egypt's opening songs.
The top 2 no doubt, I listen to them back to back!
Stephen Schwartz
@@meltsarap he's got a thing for absolute banger openings (no one mourns the wicked, for example)
I absolutely cannot believe Aladdin's opening didn't make the list
The salesman and the epic "Arabian NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTTTTTTTTTTT" will never leave your mind
Such an immediate emotional impact and clue to the upcoming story
I completely agree with Prince of Egypt being #1 though
I saw Prince Of Egypt at the cinema when it came out and I was in TEARS after the opening song, choking with emotions. It’s AMAZING.
I re-discovered as an adult (after loving it as a child) and cried after the first song. One of my favourite movies ever.
The movie makes my cry too 😢
Absolutely!
The movie doesn't let up after the beginning either. Just a masterpiece from top to bottom
@@B-Mag 100% true! I was focusing on the opening number because that's the topic of the video, but it's an incredible movie!
The fact that these songs had no right to be so epic and catchy is one of the many things that made them so memorable...at least in my opinion anyway.
the point of this video is odd.
Lol that’s the point of the video
Tarzan 2 worlds should've been in the top 5 PERIOD! I could feel the emotion in Phil Collins words and voice when he says "No words can describe a mothers tears" it gets you so HYPED for the movie!
And then when Kala runs to Tarzan and the music gets more intense. Kala may just be an ape, but damn Disney nailed it with her. Kala is the personification of a mother.
Honestly thought this would not be an honorable mention and actually on the list, but at least it was acknowledged. I love this whole soundtrack tbh
(on another note, Deliver Us ABSOLUTELY earns top spot as nothing was as epically powerful as that opening sequence)
I came to say this too!
I forgot about that one! Phil Collins did such a great job with the Tarzan and Brother Bear soundtracks.
Also Aladdin should've been on there, but I guess they can only fit so many songs.
I think the entire soundtrack of Rio was outstanding! Also the flamenco number from Puss in Boots really stands out. I also think Encanto’s opening should be mentioned, too, because it gives us such a tremendous introduction to the family Madrigal !
Of course the Bruno song gets all the recognition. I thought Surface Pressure was awesome too.
Deliver Us is truly one of the greatest opening EPIC of all time by seeing the Hebrews become slaves and Moses mother save her infant son with awesome music. ✝️ GOD I much I loved The Prince Of Egypt as my all time favorite animated movie!
Amen
Ikr ...
One of the best movies that retells the story of the Jewish peoples’ Exodus from Egypt.
Very happy to have grown up with this movie and now will forever be proud I did
And yes, it needed to go THAT hard
The Prince of Egypt is definitely number one her voice was so gorgeous 🙌🏾
Apparently the studio changed the character's appearance because they thought the actress was so pretty, so they made it look more like her
It gets me so emotionally choked up I can't sing it. 😭 Definitely one of the most beautiful songs in any film, full stop.
Ofra Haza’s voice was so pure and chilling!!! RIP
Ofra Haza had such a beautiful voice… so sad how she died.
After having my son... I can't watch the opening without tearing up now. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking song❤️
The Road to El Dorado deserves more love, and I'm so happy to see it on this list!
I rediscovered it a few months ago
It’s a great film, but I am a little puzzled by the narrator’s reference to its “Eastern influence.”
@@toomanymonkeys21 Yeah and her comment about music rarely heard in the Western world. Does she, and the writers, believe the Americas are Eastern?
@@redfive5856 IDK if the writer of the VO text is aware of where EL DORADO is set? The film is mostly fantasy, sure, but still.
@@toomanymonkeys21 They clearly do not know.
“Now, it’s always once upon a time in New York City…” Billy Joel singing the opening song to Disney’s “Oliver and Company.” Amazing intro… the music and the lyrics sweep you right into the Big Apple during the 80s! A bit of nostalgia that is impossible to rival!
That was Hewy Lewis
Oliver and Company is generally underrated.
Prince of Egypt went so hard even non believers have to admit its a masterpiece. 🥰
Literally I don’t know what I believe but it is an amazing movie and I love it.
I'm as atheist as you can get and I LOVE Prince of Egypt.
Honestly yeah. Don't have to belive in it to admit it's a good/interesting story, either.
@@Crouch_Gob I'd go as far as to say it's better than the source material
I mean, I don’t believe Ogres actually exist but think Shrek is a legendary movie…
The fact that shreks opening is so memorable it’s been a meme for over 20 years is just *PERFECT*
The Swan Princess has such underrated songs! So glad to see it on here!
Love the Swan Princess opening!
"Little town, it's a quiet village..." The absolute best of the best opening songs. So much is established in under 5 minutes, it is the standard.
I thought that too, but it's not technically an opening song. I wonder if that's why it was omitted.
I’ve never agreed with a list more than this!!!! I didn’t even know people knew what Swan Princess was and Hunchback so underrated 😭❤️❤️
Swan Princess is literally one of my favorite movies. Except the 3D animated ones.
@@edgydreamy681 I outgrew them after Princess Tomorrow Pirate Today
The swan princess is very good despite it being underrated
I love hunchback but I don’t think I’ve ever seen swan princess
Funny coincidence! I literally just watched The Swan Princess tonight and watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame last Thursday! Lol
I loved The Gospel Truth from Hercules. It was a good way to introduce the heroes and villains of this movie.
Amazing opener....has to be one of my fav animation songs
I clicked on this video 100% assuming the Gospel Truth would be in it. 👏 Did miss "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast, although it didn't necessarily 'go hard', it's been stuck in my mind for years.
Yup. I love it🤗
Im so glad you included United We Stand from Quest for Camelot as an honorable mention- a great opening number and an underated film as a whole!
Right?? I feel like it really got swept under the rug and I just enjoy it so much.
“He live’s in you” from The Lion King 2 Simba’s Pride should be on here as well, if anyone has seen it yet.
Yes! And that Deception song from Lion King 2 as well. Classic!
One of the best sequels is so underrated.
We Are One is my favorite
“Real in Rio”, “El Dorado”, and “Deliver Us” are my absolute favorites
Also, while this wasn’t in the list, I also like “Frozen Heart” from Frozen
Deliver us and El dorado I still sing till this day!
Why do the Rio movies seem so underrated, tbh?? I love the songs in them!
Frozen Heart is amazing, omg.
Right?! Like that song is so overshadowed!!!
Frozen Heart is my favorite song from that movie! A cappella harmonies give me the shivers! 💖🎶
Frozen Heart is the most underrated song in that whole movie. It's so good!
'The Prince of Egypt' is truly a masterpiece, the animation, the music, the characters and their conflict, everything. I love listening to the soundtrack on repeat sometimes, and 'Deliver Us' always gives me goosebumps. Also, no song is better to play on someone's wedding than 'Through Heaven's Eyes'
I personally think that Prince Of Egypt is one of the greatest animated movies of all time.
You do have a point since there was a wedding at the end of that song
The amount of tingles I got the *moment* "Two Worlds" started playing is unreal. Tarzan will always be my #1 animated soundtrack.
Yeah when I was little I never owned the movie but it was still my favorite movie cause I had a different Disney movie that had a commercial for Tarzan and I would rewind just to watch the commercial. To this day it's one of my favorite core memories.
@@nobody1747 I still try to find that commercial from the VHS it was soooo good! Man, I love Trazan so much
Yeah, "Two Worlds" deserved an actual spot in this list, not just an honorable mention.
Love Tarzan. "You'll Be In My Heart" was the song that my dad danced to with me for my 16th birthday and then again when I got married.
Deliver Us is STUNNING. I made my roommates watch PoE this spring because neither of them had ever seen it before, and they're both musical fanatics. Needless to say, I got them hooked.😂 They were absolutely obsessed with Ofra Haza's voice.
Deliver Us is one of the most powerfully moving Opening Numbers in any musical, animated or not. I get chills every time I hear the finale: "DELIVER US!" "SEND A SHEPHERD TO SHEPHERD US!" "AND DELIVER US TO THE PROMISED LAND!" "DELIVER US TO THE PROMISED LAND!!!" The way it ends with Jochebed's final, "DELIVER US!" is just breathtaking!
It’s a tear jerker
True, so true! This is the best opening to any movie. Nuff said. Bye. Have a blessed day.
Thank goodness, The Prince of Egypt is now getting the right appreciation it deserves. It's really a masterpiece as it offers us a deep message about society still going on to this day, just occurring in different ways
...except "The Ten Commandments" is even better and much more Biblically accurate.
The Swan Princess and Anastasia were two of my childhood golden memories :)
"Deliver Us" with "El Dorado" share the top spot on my list. They both have such amazing energy that makes you feel more engaged to the movie. Let's not forget the fact about "Rumor in St. Petersburg" began right after the massacre of the Romanov family and Anastasia being separated from her grandmother. A very grim start to a movie, but it features a song that makes us feel rooting for the protagonists.
I love that MsMojo actually remembered "This is my idea" it was honestly one of the first songs I remember looking for on my mom's MP3 when I was little
One song from a VERY underrated movie (in my opinion) that should have had at least an honorable mention is "once upon a time in New York City" from Oliver and company
THISSSSSSSSSSSS
Yes! I need to get that movie again, I've always liked that one
❤ ugh! this movie! yes yes and yes! why is this not on DPlus yet?
Damn straight! The most underrated animated film out there. I remember seeing it in the theatre-and going again the following day because I loved it so much!
I ugly cry when I watch that opening. The kitten in the rain is too much for me!!! *sob* Great song though!
All Star is a weird-feeling inclusion on this list, being a preexisting regular-ass song they just went and got the rights to.
That is WHY it is on the list. It was a regular song that just fit so perfectly that now when you hear the regular song, you think of Shrek.
@@projectstart5522 Ok but how “hard” did smash mouth have to go at it? Unless they re-recorded it, not much. It works for the movie but not this list.
@@fsujavi16 The title is "Top 10 Opening SONGS in Animated Movies That Didn't Have to Go THAT Hard". Notice how it says "songs" and not "musicians" or "singers". So they went THAT hard and it was in an animated movie. It went THAT hard in it, the song become iconic to the film because the SONG went THAT hard in it. It doesn't matter how hard the artist went, it matters how hard it hit, and it hit THAT hard and it was in an animated movie. It definitely belongs on this list.
Deliver Us is just otherworldly. Even watching it now makes me cry. Your top 3 hits the bull's eye. Its something else to actually write such masterpieces, but the 3 vocalists are just awesome to actually execute them flawlessly.
Great list! Anastasia, Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt don't get enough credit. Specially Anastasia and The Prince of Egypt, timeless movies with beautiful songs.
I love that Corpse Bride, Tarzan, and The Princess and the Frog are at least honorable mentions. They're a bit overlooked too.
I love the Price of Egypt omg
ANASTASIA IS THE MOST UNDERRATED MOVIE EVER! I LOVE IT!
I prefer the stage version of Anastasia over the movie
I personally didn’t like Anastasia that much. I love prince of Egypt, Hercules, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Prince of Egypt is one of the few cartoons that makes me cry every time I see it.
It isn’t a cartoon, it’s art
@@Synchronisedstumbling it’s not that deep lol but ok
@@nafiysamuhammad4208 and the only religious movie I know of where even atheists enjoy the movie.
So glad you included The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It's such an underated movie and it's incredible. It was also turned into a musical for stage and I was so lucky to be apart of it. The gospel choir harmonies are so much more pronounced in the stage version and it was so much fun to sing. I swear I cried at every single rehearsal because the show hits so deep. Truly incredible movie and story
With “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” you can hear “Dies Irae, Dies Illa” in the background. The meaning being “Day of Wrath, That Day of Wrath.” The notes in the sequence are set a semitone apart, giving it that uncomfortable tone. The notes tend to be F-E-F-D-E-C-D-D, in line with Dee-Ess Ee-Rae, Dee-Ess Ee-La. It’s used to create a suspenseful and disturbing tone, and is quite recognizable once you hear it in enough places (Star Wars, The Hunchback of Notre Damn, The Exorcist, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Shining, etc.)
Edit: Not the exorcist, it’s The Conjuring.
Whoa! That's fascinating. You found out that it's in that many movies!? :O
@@EpicRealistTV The line has been adapted many times to be in different keys, but it always follows the same formula. Sometimes, however, the fourth note will rise instead of fall. It makes the sound created a bit less uneasy but keeps the suspense of the note progression.
It uses what we call “semitones” in music theory, basically two notes that are right next to each other. It uses this format and then jumps to a full tone difference and continues the line in a series following that. Once you hear it and identify it, you hear it in a lot of places. The Shining is a movie that was most well-known for using it in the main theme. A variation was used in The Conjuring, as well as The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was initially made as a Gregorian Chant, and is in a Dorian Minor Mode. It has been adapted by many films, as well as classical composers (most notably Giuseppe Verdi with his Masse de Requiem, and Wolfgang A. Mozart with his Symphone de Requiem) and was used during funeral masses. The title “Dies Irae” translates roughly to “Day of Wrath,” and the line “Dies Irae, Dies Illa” translates roughly to “Day of Wrath, that Day of Wrath.” The modern use of the pattern and sequence makes it one of the most recognizable patterns in music, and usually is put into pieces written in a minor key - though sometimes will appear in pieces written in a major key to creat suspended or diminished chords to add effect.
The line, when sung initially, was done by a bass voice. It was later adapted to a SATB (Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass) format for use in larger compositions involving voices. It now serves primarily as a common “go-to” for creepy, suspenseful, or just flat out uneasy feelings in music.
@@Ember_Prime Amazing info!
I remember so vividly being absolutely enchanted by Ofra Haza's voice as a child...She sang this song herself in EVERY dub! How crazy hard is that? Though I love that they left her first two lines in Hebrew for every version, what a beautiful language!
Her performance brings me to tears every time.
Prince of Egypt as a whole always makes me emotional, especially when I hear the voice of Ofra singing. As Jewish and Israeli this story will always be a part of me, my history, and my culture. Ofra was such a talented singer and had a beautiful soul. We lost her so young, she had so much to give to this world. I'm happy this is a part of the legacy she left after her, by telling our (the Jewish) story. rip 💔
I feel like "Steady as the Beating Drum" from Pocahontas deserved a mention, it was beautiful using actual indigenous lyrical chanting. And the song from Lilo and Stitch, the beautiful hawaiian language and melody were stunning.
I always thought Virginia Company was the opening
@@manuelorozco7760 technically thats the first half of the opening. Its Virginia Company/Steady. The two peices blend the opening credits together.
@@melissagray461 Oh
How to Train Your Dragon 2 “Where No One Goes” deserved a honorable mention. It was released at a terrible time, but is definitely the best film in the series with an amazing opening song.
Loved it! Only thing I would have changed is the addition of "Arabian Nights" in the list somewhere, or at least as an honorable mention!
I was surprised it wasn't at least an honorable mention
I came here looking for this comment. I for sure thought it was gonna be number one. I can’t believe it was nowhere on the list.
I think Arabian Nights was kept away from the list because the OG version says the lines "Where they cut off your ear, If they don’t like your face. It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home." Yes, it was rewritten and re-released but if WatchMojo had it on the list than everyone who remembers the OJ lyrics would have given them flack for including a song so racist Disney had it changed before it got to VHS release.
Thank you for giving Prince of Egypt its flowers. That entire movie is a masterpiece and the music is timeless.
I always get goosebumps hearing “Bells of Notre Dame”. It’s so so beautifully written!
I don't think anyone can deny that the Prince of Egypt opening, and the movie itself, is a real masterpiece.
"The Prince of Egypt" didn't have to go that hard, but I'm glad it did.
The Prince of Egypt is a masterpiece from the first second to the last.
Moses’ Hebrew mother is one of the most beautiful animated characters of all time to me. I wish she had more screen time
The Prince of Egypt covered the biblical tale in such a tasteful and masterful way. The passover scene always leaves in I'm awe. It is honestly a movie that will stand the test of time and never lose its impact.
Big shoutout to Paul Kandel, the voice of Clopin in Hunchback, his voice MAKES that song...i've listened to the musical adaptation's version and, while amazing, just doesn't hit the same level
I was BITTING MY NAILS until I heard it... Yes Please, "The Bells Of Notre Dame" is the Epiphany of Disney's FINEST work. Having that as the Opening Sequence was GOLD.
Always chills when that choir drops!
Hunchback is such an underrated movie that I was just hoping to see it on the list, was thrilled to see it up so high. I still remember going to see the movie at the cinema, seeing this opening sequence for the first time with cinema sound, my heart racing and shivers going down my spine. It's definitely helped set the standard for me.
It's the best music to describe what a cathedral feels like...
Hunchback isn’t my favourite Disney movie, but I will defend the soundtrack til the day I die. The soundtrack is top fucking tier. GOAT 🐐
The Prince of Egypt is one of my absolute FAVORITE films of all time. It is CRIMINALLY underrated.
Absolutely!
So happy to see the Swan Princess get a mention i very rarely if ever see it get mentioned in lists like this.
I think this list is missing "Great Spirits" from "Brother Bear". It's one of the best opening songs (at least among Disney movies), maybe not so popular to be on top of the rank, but it deserves to be in top 10, or just a honorable mention
I love this song, are songs from brother bear are just wonderful and relaxing. The atmosphere is unique
Idina Menzel has to cover it one day
@@kurikuri6683 I’m more a fan of the music more so than the story
Yes! I came to this video looking for this song to be on the list.
@@manuelorozco7760 honestly, I'd like to see Evanescence cover it too

Yeah, no lies with this list! Deliver Us still gets me teary.
Okay I don’t normally disagree with Ms Mojo but this is THE MOST accurate list I have ever seen
Ofra Haza (Z"L) honestly makes Prince of Egypt the classic that it is; and solidifies it for our people as a yearly watch during Pesach, regardless of if you have kids.
i also love her for her march with AIDS
So happy to see The Prince of Egypt get the love it deserves!
Tarzan deserves more than an honorable mention. Also, I love the opening to Lilo & Stitch
“Deliver Us” from The Prince Of Egypt still gives me Goosebumps. It’s a great song and still tears me . The people who made the soundtrack for the film did amazing.
Finally!!!! Some more love for The Road to El Dorado! I already knew “Deliver Us” would be number 1, as it deserves to be. The honorable mentions were great, too. This was such a good list!
I know right?!
I still keep singing it out of nowhere sometimes.
The extended version of the song in the album its great too
I LOVE The road to El Dorado. My sister got it for me when it came out for Christmas.
@@TherealDanielleNelson What’s your favorite song from it?
@@amayajones68 On the trail we blaze.
You?
@@TherealDanielleNelson That’s a great one. I like “Tough to Be A God”.
The prince of Egypt is one of the greatest pieces of media ever created. Not just animation, or film, or anything. Religious or not, it’s a movie that easily sways and effects the emotions of most anyone who watches it. The care and attention that was put into every aspect of the movie is nothing short of astounding.
No matter how many Times i hear it, "Deliver Us" always gives me goosebumps. The First Place Spot is indeed deserved!
I'm missing one of the best opening songs of all time: The last unicorn. It's so beautiful it always brings tears to my eyes.
I’m so thrilled you even included “Deliver us” on that list, let alone make your top pick. “The Prince Of Egypt” is my favourite movie of all time.😍
ironic that "Circle of Life" and "Deliver Us" are in the top 2, cuz the director of Prince of Egypt stated he wanted the movie to have a similar ending to Lion King, by reprising the intro-song before suddenly cutting to black at the very end, it also helped that both films are scored by Hans Zimmer.
Also he did Road to El Dorado
I came to the comments just to talk about Hans Zimmer job in The lion king and The prince of Egypt, but I didn't know about El Dorado, that's 3 of 10 places in this top for him, so great!
YES HANS ZIMMER SUPREMACY!!
Tarzan's opening song + scene is ✨IMMACULATE✨. It gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it. Phil Collins really went hard on Tarzan's soundtrack.
Hands down one of the best lists this channel has done! Although it reminded me how I probably can't handle watching The Prince of Egypt anymore, now that I've had a baby... just the snippet of the song made me choke up. My daughter is almost 2 and anything baby or kid related hits me so hard. The idea of ever losing her... it would break me.
Honestly, I clicked on this video solely because I wanted to see whether they ranked "Circle of Life" or "Deliver Us" as the top song. There was no doubt in my mind that it HAD to be one of those two. :)
Deliver Us is so powerful! Deserves the #1 spot! and I love the mention of Quest for Camelot! Such an underrated movie!
I haven’t seen Quest for Camelot since God knows when
"Quest for Camelot" was pretty lousy, not underrated at all. That's why you don't hear much about it.
Prince of Egypt absolutely deserves the top spot-the most epic, soul-rending song ever, and the way they captured her anguish through her body language and movement-pure perfection! We watch that movie every Easter and Passover!
I love the respect for The Prince of Egypt! That intro song is EPIC! I remember watching it in theatres and that music was OUTSTANDING!
Hunchback, Tarzan and Hercules also RULES!
I love Swan Princess. It was one of my favorite childhood classics and the music was AMAZING. Anastasia again another childhood classic and the music once again was AMAZING! Hercules is an underrated Disney classic with great music. Shrek is a great movie. Hunchback of Notre Dame is another underrated classic. Tarzan had great music. The Prince of Egypt is also another underrated classic with amazing music.
Dude I just remembered a couple days ago about the Swan Princesses credits song "Eternity", girl that hit my play list so fast! Lol
"Two Worlds" from Tarzan deserved more than a Honorable Mention tbh, come on!
Should be #2
Yeah, tossing in "Allstar" used in Shrek is a bit of a stretch. Should have been honorable mention, with "Two Worlds" in it's slot.
@@bethd.6670 yeah because All Star wasn’t written for Shreck
I think it should have taken place for Rio
Much much better than Allstar ffs
I am really glad that people can still appreciate Prince Of Egypt for the amazing movie it is without crawling on it for being a biblical story. Whether you’re religious or not, it’s a truly beautiful message with awesome music.
All The Prince of Egypt songs are just so amazing! from “Deliver Us” to “When we Believe” I was so moved by the movie, I cried! I also love “El Dorado” and “Hercules”
I just adore A Rumor in St. Petersburg, Clopin from Hunchback is so underrated, and absolutely *perfect* Number 1! Great list, MsMojo!
SO many underrated gems in this video! Was so excited to see Quest for Camelot on the honorable mentions since it's so lesser known!! Love that movie!
I was moved to see Tarzan made it to the honorable list as well, despite being Disney. It doesn't find a place on most of those movies' tops.
Chills and tears throughout this entire countdown! I hadn’t listened to Deliver Us in years, and I was so moved even by these short clips. Thanks for reminding me of the power of a great opener. ❤
The Prince of Egypt soundtrack slaps hard and yet it's often overlooked in favour of the Disney catalogue. I find myself listening to Deliver Us from time to time despite its religious undertones. It reminds me of Can you hear the people sing from Les Mis. The scale, the grandeur. And the Hunchback soundtrack comes close second.
Prince of Egypt deserves an award and Broadway musical it is one of the most beloved movies ❤️❤️
Actually there are two stage adaptions of prince of egypt, the current adoption is currently playing right now in London and there’s plans to release on Broadway in US sometime later!
@@jacobkemezys3453 thank you it's about time they did that Im glad 👍❤️
@@jacobkemezys3453 Fingers crossed the NewYork transfer happens
@@manuelorozco7760 🤞🤞
@@jacobkemezys3453 I would 100% go to that!
El Dorado , such a underrated movie
I am only a little offended that Arabian Nights from Aladdin wasn’t in this. It is one of my all-time favorite Disney songs lol
