    Don’t forget that not only did Sir Karl Popper have much to say about freedom, but he defined modern science.

    I get concerned when academics say things like "you should just trust academics" to do something. Understand they maybe good at producing the material if left alone to do it but I would recommend anyone to reserve their opinion on trusting any group until it has been shown what they do has not been influenced, altered or threatened in any way. With academics the benchmark for "trust" should be held to a very high standard given society relies so heavily on the quality of the output to help guide society's decisions.

    Proof of the existing lack of academic freedom of ideas and speech in NZ Academic Institutions is that the respondents to the survey feared putting their names to it. They obviously feared censure for their views.The one person who was 'brave ' enough to disclose their name was not named so they would not be singled out and thus become the focus of this censure.

    Europeans in the 18th -19th century called Maori New Zealanders not maori 😅
