One time I was about 8 inches short on my regular extension cord for a water faucet heater. I only had to a 100 foot cord. I asked my wife to get the power cord stretcher. Without batting an eye, she went inside and came out with 3 cords. An 8 inch, a 12 inch and an 18 inch. She said she bought them 5 years ago and thought they would come in handy one day. God bless women.
Haha, now that's some next-level preparedness!
As well as my 30' and 50' 12-3 cords I bought a 10' and a 12' 12-3 cord...for those times when your just a tad shy... I mainly use my 12' for my truck's block heater so I'm not restling with a long cord (the plug in at home and at work is right by my front end...)
Kyle, you need some gloves! Every time I see you out in the cold without gloves, I want to buy you a pair!
Being disabled and living alone, I so much enjoy living vicariously through your wonderful videos. Thank you and be safe!
That means so much to us! We're grateful to have you along for the ride. Stay safe and keep enjoying the journey with us! 😊🚐
You guys are the greatest. My wife and I are loving the new format. Your chemistry is adorbs!
Something you might not know about the propane switch. When you have the switch set to draw off one of your propane tanks. Let us say that you’re drawing off the left tank. And the right propane tank has propane in it, turn on the right propane’s tank valve. The switch will continue to draw propane from the left tank until it becomes empty. Then because you have the right propane valve open, the switch will automatedly start drawing propane from the right tank. I learned this after having to get up in the middle of the night to switch over propane tanks too. And now I only do this at night when one tank is low.
I recommend getting a heated mattress pad cover. It warms you from the mattress up so even if the blanket move you don’t freeze while trying to sleep. They work great in an RV since the beds are often elevated and some portion of the storage area is open to the outside (only protection from the elements is a thin RV access door outside.)
I’d also recommend a small electric heater & fan you can place inside the bedroom area so you can warm (or help cool in the summer) the space without relying on your propane heater. It doesn’t make sense to waste the propane when you’re connected to shore power.
I used the small 7fin oil heaters under the bed frame in my old Hitchhiker 5th wheel, kept whole BR nice... Now as Transit van dweller, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the little 500 watt "Handy Heaters", they come in power beginning at 350 watts to 800 watts. I have a 10 ft 1800 watt ext cord that I plug into Bluetti behind driver seat extending along driver side wall to sleep platform where I plug in the little heater. I keep it set at 65 & big milk house heater that sits btwn front seats is set on low @ 1300. Split heat cuts down on condensation. Also have a small fan going in both living area as well as in the cab. Love the videos! Happy Trails, Ms CharLee👵 Nicolas 🐶 Angel🚐
The furnace keeps the basement from freezing. If not using furnace, a small heater n the basement works great.
Great video! A little bit of everything. I like this format.
Just a tip unplug your block heater before you start your truck can damage heating element from air bubbles in coolant when running I'm retired diesel mechanic 🙂
YUP… Ask me how I know 😩
Hopefully you will come to Wisconsin this summer. We want to hang with the Hanks. Dinners on us.
@happilyeverhanks, if you make it to Wisconsin in summertime you should check out something called EAA AirVenture, it’s pretty cool!
We use our electric fireplace instead of using propane. Also electric blankets are handy to use as well. Just a bit of suggestions. Great video guys
Be aware that, depending on the price per kilowatt hour, and the price per gallon, in certain areas, propane heating rather than electric fireplace heating can be up to 1/3 cheaper per month. If you have to choose between one or the other, that is, rather than needing both just to get through the night.
@@joelfarris Unless you are staying and paying per month, the electric is included in the nightly price. When it's cold out we use the fireplace and 2 space heaters inside, and another space heater in the pass through storage bay to keep the pipes warm. We never use the furnace.
Your propane furnace is what helps keep your underbelly warm and pipes from freezing. If you're using your fireplace and/or space heaters they'll keep your living space warm but won't kick your thermostat in for your furnace... potentially risking freezing your water system...
@@gerrymatheson4020 Like I said, we have a space heater in the storage bay where the the pipes are. As it's a small space it gets WAY HOTTER than any heat from the furnace could provide. It even warms the floor above it.
Thanks for taking us with you.
I’ve noticed a few times you air your tires up on cold mornings. Next time try taking off without airing and you’ll likely notice your pressure rises back to normal once the tires warm up from road friction.
They should always be set cold…….not sure about frozen.
I absolutely loved this video. I felt like I spent the day with you two. Taking us to that resort was totally awesome, now I want to go...lol enjoy and have an awesome week. I can't wait until next week. :)
That makes us so happy to hear! 😊 Glad you came along for the ride-hope you get to visit someday! Have an awesome week too! 🚐✨
I love your podcast you got me hooked on dots pretzels
Dot’s Original spicy and the cinnamon sugar pretzels are so yummy!
I would use a short extension cord to move your engine block heater plug down lower front somewhere so hood stays closed. Plug in all night. Your truck will love it.
I SO enjoy your ability to take us into your home and your lives...personally. You are the best. I am 73 years old and have a 5th wheel. The tips, insights, hints and living the on the road life are so helpful. Thank you for sharing everything. BTY, both of you look like me 1st thing in the morning.
You both look sooooo tired 🥱 😴
We love your videos❤
You know how these short days can be!
I don't know why I think it's so fantastic that you guys shop at Costco just the two of you😂
My husband and I shop at Costco always and there’s just two of us!
We really look forward to your videos each week. We have electric blankets on our beds for winter RV camping when we have hookups. Man getting in a warm bed is great. Again thanks for the great work.
I have never taught about electrical blankets! 😳 Lol! Thank you so much, I’ll get some 😆👍
I’m loving how you are editing these new episodes! Very creative.
Its so cold everywhere!!!! We always keep a small space heater in our trailer and run it not use all the propane. 🥰 Its a safe space heater if it knocks over or overheats it turns off🙂. No trailers fires😂🤣
I too carry one, even if just for the bedroom.
We do the same thing.
The propane heater also heats in the underbelly to keep tanks and pipes warm.
I can’t believe you didn’t go the southern route to head west this time of year. Getting across the mountains should be interesting. Please be safe and be sure you have tire chained. Be safe. ❤
Open roads is the best.
Kyle! Plug it in before you go to bed and leave it all night long! (From the husband). Change your engine oil every 5,000 miles. lol. Another from the husband.
@@missypowers8242 5,000 miles is for gas engines. They have a diesel. It requires less frequent oil changes.
❤Wow, That was totally Incredible !😊
I've never seen a Christmas display village done so well.
You two always have so much fun safe travels ‼️‼️👍
Really love the new content videos. Keep them coming
That was great. Love you guys. Stay warm.
Will do! Thanks 😊
Love this content!
“Let’s go home.”
I felt that in my soul
Dexter is sure living a good life. He looks so cozy.
I’m staying in my older 5th wheel here in Belt MT, while we build a home on the ranch I grew up on! It was -15° Fahrenheit before wind a few nights this week! We are all skirted in, and it’s not got below 25° underneath the trailer. When you get set up for it, it’s not bad..
❤ you guys.
Thanks for showing the winter activities at the Gaylord Hotel. Haven't been. It looks fun! Other winter camping options along the front range above Denver: Boyd Lake (in Loveland), Carter lake (West of Loveland) and Horsetooth Lake (west of Fort Collins) have camping available all year too with electric hookups and running water bathrooms with showers. Much of the Colorado front range/foothills are without snow most of the Winter. This is when we do mini weekend trips to tide us over till the warmer months. We keep our trailer Winterized and 'dry camp' ie don't use our water or toilet. We have a fold up basin to fit in our kitchen sink to capture the water and a jug with spigot to wash our hands or dishes. Also, if you live in Colorado you can get an annual state park pass with your annual car registration for a little more. Thanks for sharing your adventures and tips!
Have never heard of that place…crazy!
All I have to say is BRR! It was 75 here in Alabama today 2/6/2025. I pick up my new RV next week. Hopefully I can catch you on the road some time.
Awesome video. A great way to close out a Thursday.
LOL... you guys are so great! What a great adventure there in Colorado!!
I'm sitting here in my 28' Class C in an RV park in Monroe WA. I am 15 min away from my home on 2.3 acres that I have rented out. I've been living in this for 16 months now. I love it. It's toasty warm inside. I like being here cause with the extra oil radiators I have plugged in i'm not paying anything for power. Thousand Trails is a great group to join. I'm only paying $63 a month through that platform and I get to be here on site for almost 3 weeks out a each month. Hooked up to dump, water and power. It's been down to 25F here..... during the nights. Snow on the ground here too. But it's all good.
You guys are crazy fun !
Kitty looks so warm and cozy!❤
Thanks again guys for our weekly stream of what has the Hanks been up to this week 😂😂😂 love you guys and stay safe ❤
Excellent information about the Colorado State Parks Pass, thank you guys! We enjoy Thursday’s with ya’ll! ❤ from Oklahoma 😊
Those Mopeka tank monitors work really well so you could see you're going to run out of propane. Sleep well.
Great video. We will be moving into an RV full time and will have to deal with winter wearher. You tips and info are excellent.
It’s all fun and game until you get west of Denver. Loveland pass and going thru Eisenhower tunnel is going to be a must watch. Safe travels.
Great video as usual!!! So fun to watch!!!
We use a little electric heaters when we have hookups! Really enjoy your videos
Your tip about how to get the air bubbles out of the propane connection is the same tip I got from my mobile RV tech on a phone call to help me get the propane working in my rig. And if I can't get the stove to work, I am out of propane.
Do you have an electrical wall heater in your bedroom? I got a Cadet wall heater as an option, which keeps the bedroom warm enough, and with the electric heater/fireplace in the living area, I seldom need to run the propane furnace. I keep the electric heaters on all night and set the furnace to come on if the temp drops below 68 degrees in the living area. Pulling down the double blinds and setting the ceiling fans to push the heat downward helped to keep me warm during the most recent snow.
I got a small 1000 W/1500 W ceramic heater to use in the bathroom and move it around as needed. It was a lifesaver.
Your comment about wintering someplace warm made me laugh. It's been down to 15 degrees. I am near Charleston, S.C. Tomorrow, it will get up to 80. Just so you know I watch you on the big TV and give you a like there. And then I get on the laptop and give you a second like. You asked if we liked your most recent content. Yes, I do.
WOW! Thanks for sharing your winter camping adventure!
Hi guys snow ice on pull out before snow put plastic sheets thick one safe trip ❤
Exceptional ! Thanks for taking us along and now we know to get a state park pass (maybe with a SR discount) in Colorado. Open Roads & Costco are always in our journey. And now I know my husband is correct about the charge of the diesel during frigid weather. Happy Trails ~ Wanda (&Vinnie)
Nice to see you three again. Just want to mention I have family in Denver, Colorado and the have told me how beautiful it is there and Thanks to you two I get to see that beauty. When I finally get there to visit my family I will definitely go to that mall. Thanks for sharing Safe Travels.
We really love going on these adventures with you two! Loved that you went to ICE. My husband and I went to ICE at The Gaylord in Orlando, FL a few years ago and it was fun to visit it again as we “tagged along with you.” We look forward to each of your videos. Thanks for taking us along! 😊
That was fun! Thanks for taking us along! Weeeeeee on the iceeeeee! 🧊🧊
Awesome episode!! It’s great to see y’all out enjoying each others company!!
20 degrees stepping outside the trailer in the morning, wears shorts & t-shirt to car wash/Costco... :0 too funny! It's cool that you guys get out and do stuff instead of some folks who just seem to stay inside their trailers all-the-time. Good on ya! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride as always.
Sooooo 😊 My husband and I live in Surprise, AZ and we just saw a white Denali pulling a Solitude headed west on Grand Avenue. Coincidence?? 👀
If you are here, welcome!! AZ is the place to be. We love your videos. Safe travels ❤
Ha ha. Love watching y’all doggedly make the best of the “RV Lifestyle” while taking on the real and present challenges it brings. Keep on rocking and sharing your story. ❤
We did the ICE there in 2019. The Gaylord is an amazing hotel. We should have stayed there when we flew back to TX. Thanks for the memories of our time there. We are looking thru the photos from that week's trip.
I love you guys . We watch together. We laugh so much
Glad to see you escaping the frozen tundra !
Poor baby Dex. We have a heat mat for our kitty and he loves it! I give you both so much credit for traveling during the winter months. We are only seasonal travelers. Enjoy your time in Colorado, the mountains are beautiful! Take care of yourself and each other.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Heh guys, I love the bond of love between you two that is exhibited through your shared responsibilities as well as the goofy interplay you show! Keep up the good stuffus!
Aw, that means a lot! ❤ We just try to keep it real and have fun along the way. Thanks for being here with us! 😊🎥
I love watching y’all’s videos. My family and I are about to move into an RV full time so I’m taking notes 👍🏻. We’re excited!
Just a thought, maybe hooking up a timer to your cord to the block heater so you don't have to go outside to plug in 4 hours ahead of time.
Just leave it plugged in overnight.
Boondocking, that's what I have setup. Works great and doesn't kill the batteries before the solar gets going.
@@paulschwarz1904Yep, pull the block heater plug so it comes out the grill of the truck and plug in overnight. No way should the hood be open!
I've never seen anyone cut sausages with scissors then Carl had scrambled eggs, sausage and cottage cheese all together. You guys may be serial killers. 🤣
LOVE traveling with y'all!
Thank you for making another video. I look forward to them. So sorry you were cold!! You guys are so smart as ever!
16:28 I really thought you were going to give Kyle treats. hahahaha
Thank you for sharing. 🥃🥃
This was amazing . The hotel was an experience. Thank you for sharing. Yall stay safe.
Wow, what a resort! Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from Georgia! Love these real life videos ya'll do. I wrap up in a blanket just watching the cold moments. Didn't know Dexter would give kisses, that was so cute.
Be safe out there. Love ya'll
How fun! I will have to go experience that. Stay warm. And Dexter should get extra treats for being so cute and such a good boy.
Thanks for the video and travel safe!!
That was fun. Too cold for me though. I got under my blanket just watching you. 😂😂❤❤
Winter living in an RV in Colorado requires planning ahead & listening/taking advice from other RVer's. Especially regarding RV skirting options and propane tanks. It's worth the adventure!!
Loved Nay Nay asking you about the prairie dogs being family and not neighbors talking crap about another neighbor Sherrie and that’s me, Sherrie. 😂 Love your videos!
The joys of winter camping. When you open the refridgerator door to help warm up the RV. 🥶
The guy with the parachute was flying a paramotor. (PPG). I fly one as well! 🪂😀. My wife and I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for all the tips and keeping it real. Can’t wait to retire and live the RV life! Thank y’all! From Shallotte NC!
Thank y’all very much I’ve been watching or following since when nana was driving the car behind camper
@HappilyEverHanks: Hi, Ranee, Dexter and Kyle I have an outfitter XXL sleeping bag -35 degrees for below zero temps that I use for winter camping with and it works great. I purchased mine through Cabela's and it was reasonably priced. Amazon has heated cat condo's for cats to sleep in that will keep them warm in the winter.-All my best always and stay warm, ya all.
Carl it look cold glad y’all are doing ok stay safe and happy travels.
So very happy to see y'all having a fun time despite the frigid weather. Love you guys!🥰
Cold weather can’t stop the fun! 🥶😂 We appreciate you being here with us! 🥰
Beautiful country out there but cold! 🥶 Hope you’re staying warm!! Happy Camping and Safe Travels!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻😺😺
Enjoy seeing you freezing from a former Alaskan of 30 years now living in Tucson AZ, 80° on my January day😄
You guys always brighten my day, Thanks.
My wife and I have been full time for almost 2 years now, we really appreciate your videos. They helped us out a lot. Regarding the heated hose, if you have an electric outlet in the bay, you can flip the hose around and plug into the rv. 😊
Amazing team work 🎉❤
Weber grill buddy and separate sheets or blankets..luv the time u spent together and are having fun. My wife and i cant wait for spring break. Im a teacher...😢... lol .. safe travels
Hey friends!!! In the very beginning it appears you plugged the block heater in using an outlet on the RV. That block heater is 1500w minimum and if I may, I strongly recommend going straight into the pedestal. Also yes, you only "need" 3-4 hours but if you aren't paying for the electric, leave it plugged in overnight! I've owned a diesel for 30+ years, you'll notice the difference! Safe travels!
I know this is gonna sound kind of strange but that Phillips gas station right there at the next exit. Has the best Indian food it’s pretty crazy! You’d never think that that little gas station has a full Indian restaurant inside but the saag paneer is delicious.
❤ LOVE Indian food!!! Saag Paneer/Palak Paneer is one of my favorite curries!
This was great, you guys!
I just love you guys. I love everything you film. You are the real deal. Keep doing what you’re doing. I enjoy every video. I’m currently going through cancer treatments and your videos help make life better. Thank you Hank’s family. ❤
God speed and God bless. ❤
Welcome to Colorado
St. Vrain is a great fishing spot, lots of variety.
Yes! I do enjoy watching your "travel adventures " . I really look forward to you next adventure every week! Thank you for showing us your every day lives. See you on the road, Dave B, Las Vegas, NV.
I-70 is the most boring highway in the USA. Next is I-40 going through the Texas Panhandle. Enjoy your travels and keep the videos coming.
You guys have so much fun, even in the tough times! Love it!
Brrr.... I'm in Max, warm and comfy but shivering with your chill experience.
Great jouney😍
Absolutely love the Gaylord in Aurora but never saw that. Now I need to visit more often!
Cool Video🥶 Colorado Rocks 🏔
