    One of the reasons I love riding the underground as opposed to the subway here in America is that in the London Underground, the drivers' voice when they announce the status of the train is so clear and concise, you can actually understand what they're saying. Here in America the drivers mumble the announcements like, "next stop, frrffff fghhshhh ton" and I'm like "What the F did he just say?"

      !! In the 80's & some 90's ! I.have to say it wasn't that bad over there !? I never missed it over there in N.Y.,for either a bus stop ,or a train / subway stop !! But ,buses here in L A.,YES !! Lol. 💜🥁🐉🎤💞

    “Even the pointless ones” LOL. My family and I had a great London public transportation adventure a few years ago. We were staying in Camden, and took Overground and the Tube to North Greenwich station; hopped on the cable car for a round trip across the river and back - pointless yes, but amazing views!! Hopped on a river boat at the landing right next to North Greenwich; cruised up the river to London Bridge; stopped at Borough Market and then walked across the bridge to explore the City; then caught a bus back to Camden. A great day out for not much money!

    I get what you’re saying about the cable car, but the North Greenwich end is actually quite interesting with the O2, including shopping opportunities, the new Design District with a collection of very interesting buildings, some food places, and then there is the Magazine exhibition space. The views from the cable car are also quite nice. But yes, there is nothing at the other end of it.

    At least 9/10 of London's transportation I used is the tube. I enjoy using the tube station because some have old histories dating back more than 100 years, like Baker Street (the oldest tube station). The downside of the tube station is the lack of ventilation, and it does get uncomfortably hot! Caught a river bus for the first time in early June of 2022. I need to try cable cars; I didn't even know they existed in London until you revealed it!

    Lived here for 20 years and am still amazed by the tube (pronounced choob!). There line I take to work transports 40000 people an hour in a pair of tunnels each only 3.5 metres across (that's more than an 8 lane motorway)

    I was in London the other day and we took a river boat bus, something I didn’t know existed beforehand it was surprisingly really nice! It was air conditioned and wasn’t that slow, it was luxury compared to the boiling hot buses since we arrived during the second hottest week of the year with an extreme heat warning. It was £36 from Cadogan to Tower, which is shocking, but we could’ve easily skipped paying as they just said “Oh, use the app to pay.” and never tried to verify it 😂
    We used all the main forms of transit on this trip, 2 buses which luckily had no traffic issues (aside from other buses) because the congestion charge kept nearly every car off the roads except for the cabs, and the tube which was stuffy in the station but the actual train was lovely as it was a modern one with AC. We also took trains to get up to London from my town, however we didn’t use the cable car as we were nowhere near it and we didn’t use the Boris bikes as two of us can’t cycle. On previous trips though I’ve used the DLR, the bikes, the cable car, and cabs, so I’ve basically experienced it all, the cable car was during the Olympics as it took us exactly to where we needed to go from where we happened to be.
    We’re so lucky to have such a successful public transit system here, compared to America it’s amazing. The congestion charge is a big improvement too, the amount of cars is massively reduced and the buses move much better now with less traffic, the air qualify is much better too, we walked about 8 miles as “connection walks” between transit and destinations, and it was much nicer to do due to the charge, I remember in the past the air quality was awful and long walks made you cough from the fumes.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Рік тому +3

      £36 is much more than it's meant to be, maybe you hopped on a tourist sightseeing boat instead of the public transport river boat? Glad you enjoyed it though!

      @@loveandlondon No it was a real river bus, I’ve done tourist boats before but this was definitely just for transit. It was for 5 people though, 3 adults 2 kids.

    The bus at the beginning of the video is rather nice.
    I'm an absolute fan of the new routemaster (boris bus). The exterior looks awesome, so does the interior - warm colors, those lovely round lights and an overall pleasant atmosphere. But then there are also some of the ugliest buses I've ever been on. Talking about the ones with blue/gray interiors and cold, bright lighting that have this 70's hospital kinda vibe.
    (I'm not a Londoner and I know that the boris bus isn't / wasn't popular with a lot of people but every time I'm in London I just love riding on one of them)

    • @justanotheryoutubechannel
      @justanotheryoutubechannel Рік тому +2

      I’ve never heard of them as Boris buses but I was in London the other day and rode 2 new route masters, I honestly really love the look, it was all red and yellow and warm coloured with the fancy curvature making them look super sleek. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just warm coloured, they were both practically furnaces with unbearable heat and humidity. We did go during an extreme heat warning (not by choice) but the boats and tube lines had good AC so why not the buses? They’re new this year so they definitely could’ve installed it. The top deck seemed to have some kind of weak ventilation but it was still a good 34 degrees up there, and about 36 on the bottom deck with 90% humidity, as there was no vents down there at all just some tiny slit windows like a tube train from the 80s. I hope the buses we had were just defective though as designing a mass transit system without AC in this day and age is just embarrassing, especially since I’m pretty sure the old buses had AC of some form.

For example in Prague, you can get a 3 day pass that is cheaper then buying a ticket each time you ride (or even a monthly if you are going to be there for 2 weeks or more) That pass allows unlimited travel for bus, metro and tram (even water taxis). Do they have anything like that in London for things like bus/tube? I understand trains and boats are different. Thanks

    Hi, I wonder if anyone here has experience with Citymapper pass? It seems to be much cheaper than using Oyster card, but I cannot find any info about it anywhere.. Is it better for everyday travel in London?

      It's slightlyyyyyy cheaper than using contactless. If you're just visiting London then I would just stuck with the easy contactless features
