Underrated announcer. I mean of course he gets to call the biggest game every week, but I honestly believe he is just as good as the commentators before him at ESPN
Cool to see him announcing this weeks Monday night game between Dolphins and Titans. As a Dolphins fan was a bit sad we weren't getting the regular MNF announce team of Buck and Troy as they are doing the other Monday night game. But once I saw Fowler was doing the game was was cool with not getting them. Not sure if I have ever heard him call a NFL game or if he ever has.

I mean I didn't even watch a single MNF game last season seeing how Dolphins didn't get a single one last season. Kind of shocked they didn't give Dolphins vs Titans the #1 team I know both games feature one playoff hopeful and then a 4 win team. Just figured more fans would tune into watching the Dolphins offense than they would watching the Packers and Giants play. Then again that game probably has more potential to be competitive as Giants have been playing better and Packers are 2-4 on the road. While Miami has dominated a lot of the lesser competition they have faced.
His call of the Smith TD in Bama/Georgia was so electric, you could hear the shock and excitement in his voice when he screamed “TOUCH DOWN!” after being casual talking about 2nd and 26
The best part about that call is he called that entire game while sick with the flu. He said in an interview that he had a fever and pounding headache so he barely remembers that night since he was so sick

I'll admit it, when he left Gameday for the booth I didn't think he was going to be on the level of a Lundquist but he has certainly brought excitment to the game. Kudos to Chris!

2018 Natty. End to 2017 Bama's season, with a W. That was the last of their "peak" seasons/years too (run and defense 1st), before changing into a QB/offense 1st team. Like many, I was on the Bama hate bandwagon, but this was 1 of the few games I can remember from that period that I wanted Bama's opponent to win more than/rather than wanting Bama to lose. This play hurt to see live but even then I acknowledged it as maybe the greatest commentator call I've ever seen. I only started watching CFB in full since the 2016 season so I wasn't a seasoned viewer at that point. All these years later, it's still 1 of the greatest I ever heard and my personal most iconic.
the penn st blocked fg is the best one imo. from his call, to the scooper stumbling into the endzone, then the baseball slide by the ref... just perfect
People longing for the old announcers will forget the fact that Chris Fowler is already one of the best college football announcers, hell one of the best sports announcers ever, imo. Voice just makes every game feel like a spectacle. His voice is over the biggest moments in the sport. Actually feels like he’s a gigantic fan of the game.

Joe Burreaux being as clutch as it gets with basically a Heisman moment per game in the end of the season, a WR room of dreams, a ver good defense as well with multiple guys that are performing good on sundays now... Alabama was the best chance to contain this squad, once LSU won I knew every other team would likely be curb stomped

I’m here after NCAA 25 and I am disappointed. I mean, it’s hard to put emotion into a game when there’s no visual representation. It was also his first game where he had to do audio recordings (I think) hope he yells and gives emotion in the following games.
I doubt he’ll ever get the sort of respect and fondness that someone like Keith Jackson had. But Chris Fowler is a really damn good complement to all the biggest college football games.
There is really no comparison, Keith called games for 50 years with almost no interruption. Chris has been doing it for far less time. Chris has to be respected as a caller and for his overall history, counting his years of College Gameday before he became the #1 caller for ESPN

He's clearly blocking downfield before the ball is caught. He never even attempts to look for the ball and engages a defender exactly like he's blocking for a screen. You can love it because it's happening to Bama, or hate it because the refs effectively decided a championship.
Louisville vs Clemson , the WR should have made a quick cut inside after he coughs the ball and the pushed back outside and maybe he would have got the first down. But overall lack of knowledge on the field is what made him 3 yards short
Chris never called many Michigan games... I remember one against Ohio State (2 vs 3 in Columbus), a game against Notre Dame at the Big House, and that's pretty much it
