I tried both the cn 39 and this cn 301, the only improvement I could appreciate was the lesser noise from the keys, but I would like to try it again in a year and see if the bearing still does its job. for the rest I think that the audio coming from the onkyo speakers of the cn 39 is better.

Feature request for your videos - Could you please display the name of the sample you are playing on the screen as you go through them. I'm sure this would help viewers immensely. Thank you.

The CN301 has 45 voices, but the CN39 had 355 voices. The CN301 also loses the 16-track recorder the CN39 had. The CN301 gains a couple of Virtual Technician parameters (Hammer Noise, Release Time), the Low Volume Balance feature, diffusers on the top speakers, and the cabinet looks more modern. Everything else is pretty much the same. I think I would go for the CA49, which has wooden keys instead of the plastic keys the CN301 has. The last time I played the CN29, CN39, CA49, CA79, and CA99, I thought the CN series didn't sound very refined compared to the CA series. The CA series is a jump in sound quality. I imagine the CN301, being pretty much a CN39, will still fall somehow below the CA49 in terms of sound quality through the speakers as well as the quality of the action.

Might need to wate for the Ca401. New Kawai digitals are so hard to come across wile new Yamaha digitals compared to Kawais are a lot easier to find🎹🎶

Your - interesting - comment triggered me to look for differences as listed by Kawai. The older model has more width and the newer one is 12% lighter than the older one - as they slashed 6.5kg from the old 54kg. That's a very significant amount of weight and the question is how come. As they added the weight of an improved key landing, they may have moved the power supply outboard, and the playback electronics no longer carries the Onkyo brand. Still, if they replaced the material of the case/stand from, say, MDF to some sort of multiplex, that might explain the weight difference. But if the difference of weight is in the playback electronics, then this hints at an enormous reduction in its - analog playback - power supply.

@@jpdj2715 Hi, I think the weight reduction is due to the CN301 being 3.5 cm (1.5") narrower, 1 cm shorter overall, 1 cm shorter music rest stand, and could be also using a thinner MDF material. The power supply used in both models is the PS-154, which is external to the instrument. The PS-154 is just a small brick that sits outside the digital pianos, similar to a laptop power supply. The electronics typically cannot add weight, particularly since these instruments use class D amplifiers, which are lighter than a cell phone. If you open a console digital piano like this, you will see they have minimal electronics inside. The improved cushioning is probably just an extra piece of felt, which cannot add to the weight. It seems to me that the weight difference is mostly due to the reduction in amount of material used for both the piano case and music rest, as well as a possible thinner MDF sheet. A comparable instrument in price, the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-735, is 57 Kg and up to 60 Kg in polished ebony. That is a significantly more substantial digital piano cabinet. If you look at assembly videos of Kawai and Yamaha home digital pianos, it seems that Yamaha uses thicker MDF boards than Kawai, so they have more robust cabinets.

and for some reason the cn301 costs more than the ca49 which makes it even more pointless to buy

Whats is the replacements in new KAWAI series for ONKYO amps/speakers? DO they use better parts now or worse?

I like you too on screen your reviews are fun but… Please label the sounds that you’re playing. I know it’s a lot of work but it lets us understand what’s there better.

I really deplore that the young man's voice is so monotonous, so flat...
That it's too lazy to pay attention to what he says.
How there is no one to teach him to give intonation to his speech! fcs
the George Carlin Brother save the situation...
    well, thanks anyway.
