Congratulations chaps to everyone involved and the enter railway on a magnificent job well done live long and prosper Ffestiniog 🎉 absolutely love the ceremony and the children singing
Wonderful job, welldone everyone involved in the project, I used to be a volunteer on the railway, starting out on the permament way, lattery in the carriage works with Norman Bond's team, poor health as stopped me coming down to the railway anymore, hoping to have a couple of days next year riding the rails again, im a Life member of the FR,. Congratulations all.
In those conditions? Little short of amazing. That Up line at T-y-B has got to be one of the horriblest* station exits on any adhesion railway ..... anywhere *It is now!!
I'm so glad I managed to catch her on her first steam test, by pure chance too! The staff was very helpful, may this engine freely steam into the future, many more memories to come!
Huge congratulations to everyone involved with such a momentous project, once again proving that the Ffestiniog is still advancing despite the current issues that heritage railways as a whole are facing! Robert Fairlie would undoubtedly be proud that, 169 years on, people around the UK and indeed the world are still appreciating his unique design.
Well despite the traditional weather in Blaenau (I know as I used to live there), this turned out to be a wonderful event for everyone present. What an amazing job to build such a fantastic engine that will help sustain the railway well into the future. The skills and knowledge of everyone involved have produced a stunning result. Da iawn paw. So glad I got to see it before it was named, the livery is superb.
Well done to the extended team of the Ffestiniog, and the rain rarely lets down a good occasion. It was really surprising to see the new engine was turned out as soon as it was. I had wondered if it would take to at least next year, but it's a credit all round to see it in true form and running. Regards, Samuel Farris.
A beautiful sight and a wonderful achievement, but I feel it would have ben a nice gesture to name it George Percival Spooner after its original designer
Llongyfarchiadau ar locomotif stêm newydd hardd! Rwy'n gobeithio y bydd ganddi gymaint o flynyddoedd ar y cledrau ag y mae ei rhagflaenwyr wedi'i fwynhau.
A Fairlie damp ride for the crew!
It's always nice hearing about 21st century steam locomotives
Wonderful! Well done to everyone involved. Thank you for posting this event in video.

Beautiful engine and amazing job by all involved. Can’t wait to see her on the line.
Wonderful! Congratulations to all involved!!!
Great video but a greater achievement. Congratulations. Ray.
Fabulous, just fabulous!! (Great start out of TyB).

Splendid video.

With weather like that I think they'll be grateful to get the roof panel back in!
Wonder if there'll be a 'leader board' at Blodge for the fastest mount/dismount time for that removable roof panel? 🤔
Congrats guys! great looking locomotive
Excellent!
What a fantastic looking locomotive.
In my opinion, this is the best livery for a fairlie yet!

wonderful
Beautiful just beautiful! Love the split cab. Are the bells original or replicas? Sounds like I can hear a little knock! Now the alco!
Congratulations. All this pomp and ceremony, but no bell ringing?
The bell was ringing as it left the station if you listen hard.
Get well soon, Paul!
Dear me, what a rain. But happy to see JS staring it’s working life
she looks lovely in black
It's actually Victorian Plum, not black, but in the poor light it does look black
Engine looks great, but it does need a much better deeper toned whistle, like the ones on Blanche, Earl of Merioneth and Merddin Emrys
Can we hear the bells first? Still wondering if they sound like a Welsh school bell, or as if the loco is entering the precinct of a US rail station!
Haha, that little shot of Tim Dunn, iconic 😂
Glad you liked it. 😁
A beautiful sight and a wonderful achievement, but I feel it would have ben a nice gesture to name it George Percival Spooner after its original designer
Hopefully next year we will finally make the trip after three coach tours cancelled in 20/21 due to covid restrictions.
Cyflawniad gwych a phriodol bod enw Mr Spooner yn cael ei goffáu eto ar locomotif Ffestiniog.
Good view of how the regulators work with the roof off
Mighty Mac would be proud.

Why does James Spooner have a bell?
It is a design cue taken from the original locomotive called James Spooner.
