Look UP " Kirsten Neuschäfer wins the Golden Globe Race 2022 "
I came here to say the exact same thing. She won an unsupported race too!!
40 y.o. South African female, solo, nonstop, unassisted, no GPS or autopilot allowed, 36 foot 1979 cutter design...she even turned back in the Indian Southern Ocean for three days to rescue a competitor whose boat broke up and sank.
She was outstanding in that race and I hope she’s planning her next !
It was so great to follow her and the entire field in the GGR!
And dont forget jessica watson. Aussie lass. Theres even a movie about her. Amazing person.
There have been many others, but still, never let the facts stand in the way of a good story
It would be nice, and not really detract, from Cole Brauer's story, to include a brief "following in the footsteps" or "standing on the shoulders" mention of other nonstop solo circumnavigatrices...the list is pretty short and includes Kirsten Neuschafer, Jeanne Socrates, Catherine Chabaud, Isabelle Autissier, Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz, Clarisse Cremer, Dee Caffari, MacArthur, Dekker, James, Cottee....
Other American women? What I hear is she is the first American woman to race solo, nonstop, and unassisted, around tge world. Let's just celebrate her for what she achieved.
@@thistledown6026 Cole didn't stand on anyone's shoulders. Why try to detract from this hero's achievement.
No one is trying to detract from the achievement of Cole.
But the list of female sailors who raced around the globe non-stop and without assistance before her is long.
And when I hear "Newport is the sailing capital of the world", it makes me laugh.
The capital of offshore sailing races, if it exists, is somewhere on the West coat of France.
Cole is brilliant, her sailing and social media skills brought this massively tough race to life.
Cole’s second place finish. So good!
Err, I know this person is British and therefore doesn't count as far as Americans are concerned but....
On 7 February 2005, Ellen MacArthur broke the world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of the globe.
Laura Dekker is the youngest to circumnavigate solo :)
While i love followign Cole and look forward to her adventures she is by no means the first female to do this.
❤She did very well❤ The are also quite a few other women that have done this trip solo, but in different type of boats. 😊
Not the ONLY woman.
A great accomplishment, nonetheless
Klikk bait headline ! Several woman have done the solo circumnavigation from Ellen mcarthur to Kirsten neushafer and many in betveen😊 girls just wanna have fun ❤
The first female to sail around the world solo was Naomi James in 1978. She used a sextant to navigate and had none of the sailing aids available today. Not detracting from Brauer's achievement, but the headline is misleading.
Good for Cole, shame on the writer of this video title
What terrible example of periodism, makes you feel sorry for Ms. Brauer.
Definitely not the first
only female to sail around the world ? Complete and utter nonsense.
