You know what the Death Note fan community needs with this? We need a whole spin off series of All the cases L took on his entire life before leading up to the whole Kira event we need to see his entire life's work so we can enjoy more of L's adorableness and fun nature that we all came to know from this anime. Who else agrees with me?
L is one out of the many characters who is clearly based of the master detective Sherlock Holmes, however he is also one of the best Sherlock Holmes based characters there is.

If anyone wants to hear L singing, look up L Lawliet singing and choose the video with the time of 4:58 minutes. Why didn't you sing in the Tv show or the movies, L? you have such a wonderful singing voice (plus you're so adorable that I bet not even Misa could have resisted you)
Light took the death note from him, and he didn't resist because he was still in shock about seeing a shinigami, a creature he didn't believe existed. And with the existence of a death note, a lot of the mystery makes sense.
L is what we wish we were, in the light. Light is what we could be in the dark, Righteous, sure, and without fear. L had to die to prove that Light had moved from Shingami wanna be to Demon.
That is a one sided view, do not misinterpret me, I dislike Kira and his Ideals and fully disagree with them, however to simply say L is justice may be untrue, He fights for justice, but is he justice? or is he merely a human with intelligence that is literally a weapon of mass destruction if misused?
i had a dream that he did fake his death and no make it believable he had a funeral but the coffin was rigged so he could easily get out and he was only buried under about an inch of dirt and after everyone left the cemetery in the middle of the night he dramatically opened his eyes kicked the coffin op and met watari and they begun watching light from afar by hacking to all of his computers

Kira was a bastard, we all knew that, when he killed L, he knew that he would get away with the killings. The others toke almost 20 years just to figure out that Light was kira and L solved that at the precise moment he saw Light So , come on up Sherlock, I want you to do better
To be honest in my opinion death note kind of went down hill once L died and Near was brought into the show. I watched 2 episodes that Near was in and decided that I would rather not watch it anymore. Death Note was the best when L was around. As much as I hated Light for killing L, I still love light. It just sucks that L had to die.....I kind of shipped L and Light though xD
Well turns out I watched the full second part of death note annnnnddd welll I kind of loved it. I still hate Near and think the first half (with L) is much better. But I love Mello and Matt ^-^
It's nice to know you gave it a chance. May I ask why you hate Near? I never got why everybody does, he is one of my (If not my top) favorite characters. Some people call him an L ripoff, but they don't even have that many similarities, so I just don't understand.

I have always been into villains ever since I was little. And of course since Light (my all time favorite) was killed by Near, I have a bit of a bad view of him. And although Near does not have too many similarities to L, Near still replaced him right after he died. No one can replace L. I was personally still getting over the death of L and here in comes a child who is supposed to replace him already. Near isn't that bad of a character. Don't get me wrong there are things I like about him, but he just happens to be my least favorite in the show. ^-^
Elizabeth Schultz Actually Near had to wait about 5 years to succeed L.....Light was the second L, so there's something to think about. On the subject of loving the villain, I have no view on Kira. I like to think of this being the shinigami view of the show, opposed to the L view and the Kira view. Side note, Near just led him to his death, matsuda shot him and Ryuk wrote his name down on the Death Note. They all contributed.
kevin short True, true. They all did contribute. And by right after he died I meant in the audience watching time, not the in show time. But as I have said this is just my opinion. Many people enjoy Near and that's fine. And I take back the 'I hate Near' part. It was too strong of a word to use for what I actually feel for Near. I don't really hate the character. He's just not my favorite that's all. And like I had said, there are things I enjoy and admire about Near. He was a respectable character. Just in my personal opinion not my favorite.
