To be honest in my opinion death note kind of went down hill once L died and Near was brought into the show. I watched 2 episodes that Near was in and decided that I would rather not watch it anymore. Death Note was the best when L was around. As much as I hated Light for killing L, I still love light. It just sucks that L had to die.....I kind of shipped L and Light though xD
Well turns out I watched the full second part of death note annnnnddd welll I kind of loved it. I still hate Near and think the first half (with L) is much better. But I love Mello and Matt ^-^
It's nice to know you gave it a chance. May I ask why you hate Near? I never got why everybody does, he is one of my (If not my top) favorite characters. Some people call him an L ripoff, but they don't even have that many similarities, so I just don't understand.
I have just always found him to be an annoying character. But this is just my opinion ^-^ see I really heavily enjoy Light. Especially Light as Kira. I have always been into villains ever since I was little. And of course since Light (my all time favorite) was killed by Near, I have a bit of a bad view of him. And although Near does not have too many similarities to L, Near still replaced him right after he died. No one can replace L. I was personally still getting over the death of L and here in comes a child who is supposed to replace him already. Near isn't that bad of a character. Don't get me wrong there are things I like about him, but he just happens to be my least favorite in the show. ^-^
Elizabeth Schultz Actually Near had to wait about 5 years to succeed L.....Light was the second L, so there's something to think about. On the subject of loving the villain, I have no view on Kira. I like to think of this being the shinigami view of the show, opposed to the L view and the Kira view. Side note, Near just led him to his death, matsuda shot him and Ryuk wrote his name down on the Death Note. They all contributed.
kevin short True, true. They all did contribute. And by right after he died I meant in the audience watching time, not the in show time. But as I have said this is just my opinion. Many people enjoy Near and that's fine. And I take back the 'I hate Near' part. It was too strong of a word to use for what I actually feel for Near. I don't really hate the character. He's just not my favorite that's all. And like I had said, there are things I enjoy and admire about Near. He was a respectable character. Just in my personal opinion not my favorite.
