The hosts dismissive attitude when bringing up male loneliness is so ironic. Yes, imagine that people who are deprived of societal empathy due to their gender will find their luck elsewhere
That's because is not truly about their gender. If a lot of these people stop saying "I'm lonely because I'm a man", and started saying "I'm lonely because I'm an asshole who thinks that love, friendship and companionship is something I'm OWED because I'm a man", maybe that could be the start to bettering yourself. Also, there's a difference between males being lonely and males not having a sexually-romantic relationship. Like, yes, if you want a relationship, you should look for it, but why discard having people that are just your friends? Or having a community, a social group? Usually when you have those, it gets easier to find a partner. But these people never look at it like that, they feel like they should have a girlfriend, even though they don't have friends or leave the house, and that that is going to make them feel less lonely. But, honestly, having a partner and no social group will make you start feeling just as lonely in no time. We, as people, should strive for having more than one person to rely on, and I don't see how being a man makes that impossible.
A group of incels who worship low-IQ misogynists like Tate, Fuentes, Rogan, Adin Ross, Theo Von, Fresh and Fit... can't find a job, but spend their money trying to learn internet scams can't find a romantic partner. Who'd have thought?
Yet misogyny is the core of the Manosphere. Adin Ross and Theo Von are HUGE Tate, Fuentes supporters/friends. A real man respects women, especially since women in your 18 - 24 demographic are spectacularly successful. They're 66% of all college graduates, and they're not the ones who can't find a job, and looking for a drop shipping scam, or learning how to traff!ck women from Hustler University.
You are wrong about when Trump for instance goes on a podcast he doesn't get hard questions. What makes it interesting is that the host ask everything under the sun and you get to hear Trump in his own words speak with no time limit. But the fact that you think they avoid sensitive topics or dont go right to the hot button issues is wrong. I promise you this is where the appeal comes from, and why people listen. They aren't echo chambers. This is the reason the left is so scared to go on them in my opinion. And.. One other thing, don't call straight men cis. It's insulting and no one likes it. There is nothing cis/sis about being a straight male. The word is incredibly dumb and absolutly not used by straight men.

I appreciate Josh Citarella's nuanced understanding of online radicalization. His insights on the manosphere are particularly valuable, as they highlight the complexities and challenges involved in addressing these issues. This conversation is much-needed.
I always love the conversations you have. It's such an excellent point that kids are being steeped in all this from a young age, now that everyone is on the same internet (there are no safe spaces for kids online, after all) and they're thus affected by the same online economies, cultures, and talking heads as the rest of us, in their most formative years. We have to reach them starting from that vulnerable time, and then have politicians who will actually appeal to them.
The issue is that we are lying to boys. If you listen to the Incels, they all say the same: "I did everything they told me; I've been the 'Supreme Gentleman'; It was a lie; Women hate me...". The issue is that boys are not evil. You don't need to "train" them to be submissive. Many of them are already submissive; & some are already emotionally & physically abused... You actually need to train them to be stronger!! At some point, they will realize that they were lied & manipulated all their lives (and abused). And they will realize that no one told them the truth. And they will snap & hate the society. It's how you create monsters. So thanks to "Red Pill" they won't feel that way. They won't go on a rampage.

As a person under 25 who has watched JRE, killtony, Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, watches UFC, finds Elon very entertaining and innovative who also voted for Biden and then Trump. This guy is the only perspective ive heard online that tries to generally understand it. Men are being told to be weaker and that they are the problem of society Trump and these influencers speak to that. If you want men to vote for you empower them. If you dont want to empower men you wont get their vote.
I'm under 25 as well (though the only bit I can say applies to me is the bit about Elon), and I vibe with that. There has been an almost explicit 'we don't want you' feel from establishment liberals and it's hard even as someone who wants to be part of the left to fit in.
You'd think a movement which is dead-set on identity politics might want to appeal to the largest voting block in a country... 🤷 ...maybe Democrats can take a look into their past and try what has already worked for them before...like a certrain combination of pride and white...maybe #WhiteLivesMatter or something like that. 🤡😂🤣😭🤣😂

I don't think everyone who is listening to this stuff is completely lost. back in the 2000s I had trouble dating and i had other guy friends telling me "nice guys finish last". I didnt blame women, I was just mostly despondent about it. I was listening to some radio shows (pre podcast lol) that were mostly just guys talking about guy stuff and most were vaguely center or center right with their politics. I started listening to Tom Leykis, not for his sexism, but more for his humor and I liked what he was saying about how people shouldn't be in shitty relationships and people are free to leave a shitty partner that tries to change you. I met a young woman and she said she didn't like the sexism in the things I was listening to and pointed out other places that had comedy that wasn't sexist and feminist places to listen to relationship advice that wasn't just conservative garbage about staying with a partner until the end no matter what. She moved me far far left and got me completely out of that rut. I don't think i would have ever gone all the way down the rabbithole to being an incel. I'm usually rejected by ultra male spaces for not being masculine enough and I valued my platonic female friendships too much to do that, but she definitely got me out of there much quicker. So yeah, I think there are a lot of guys out there that could be pulled out by a good friend or a partner. I'm not saying it's your job to do that, I'm just saying its possible. They're not lost just because they listen to Joe Rogan. (I also have a friend who used to be a huge Rogan fan because he liked his diet and MMA stuff and I was worried he was lost, but he abandoned him once he started interviewing Jordan Peterson).
I appreciate your insightful story, and I don't know the person you're talking about (Tom Leykis). However, I think it is important to remember that in the same way Tom Leykis may have said wrong things about women, men don't hold women accountable enough for the wrong things said about men. This is why misandry is seen as an illegitimate term on Wikipedia. Because misandry is not recognized due to the false belief of a patriarchy in the West (hard to even argue quasi-patriarchal elements imo, at this point but to each other their own some ammo there, but there is no true patriarchy i.e., Afghanistan), and therefore no power dynamic, no matter how unbalanced or biased an issue or political stance is towards female perspective or desires, can ever be seen as discriminatory or wrong or evil. Considering the widespread mainstream media condemnation of patriarchy and not that of matriarchy and that of misandry where the pushback is literally non existent in the mainstream media in that regard. There include examples shown but not limited to kill all men, men are trash, men vs bear ((stereotype usage seen as bad for any other group)), the total lack of care for the college graduation gap by gender particularly among masters degrees and higher and the projections for the future being far worse, the constant tiktoks disparging men, the hatred for traditional masculinity but wanting within dating culture of age by the same people, male culture in general regardless of political affiliation in almost every area of society, traditional families and relationships, male emolotionality, male sexual desires, and particularly masculinity and as a general whole within reason traditional man where the discrimination and double standard steroetyping of them is practically normalized and wanted, etc. And the list goes on and on and on and on. So unless the far left addresses that honestly, there is literally no reason on earth that ANY SELF RESPECTING MAN would genuinely and honestly WANT to support the democratic party other than better policies overall when it doesn't even recognize, care, have empathy, or even the slightest individualized policy platform to ensure that at the bare minimum men are given equal opportunities to wealth creation in the future and not being discrimanted both politically and culturally to women instead. So, while I recognize the importance of your story, I don't recognize your solution. This solution doesn't exist right now when out of the 17 policy platforms from the democratic party, one of which included a category for women and potentially trying to increase the amount of women in high power positions, not one of them included a category for men or trying to help them with their economic prospects. Therefore, that doesn't sound like a solution to me, and thus people like Rogan, who tend to be more centrist (with right lean), could be a better fit, or someone who is center left. And most certainly, absolutely not far left, or at least until it can treat men as well as it treats women. Coming from someone who worked for the Kamala Harris campaign adjacently.
I'm glad to hear your story! I watch idiotic clips from Theon Von, Adin Ross, Rogan, Fresh and Fit, Hoe Math... and it gives me a migraine. Like many of the 30+ demographic, I'm more than happy to write-off the Manosphere Incels, especially now that they're fervently Trump supporters. You give me reason to reconsider that.
@@ConfusedFlowerPot-ds3gy the Manosphere has groomed the incel concept of masculinity, which is based on misogyny and anti-feminism. You think that the spectacular gains that the women in your demographic have made (66% of all college graduates are women) are at your expense. They're not. Go to college, or learn a trade. Stop spending 30 hours/week listening to Rogan podcasts about UFOs and raw milk, and get a real job. Not an hourly gig when the President you just voted for will NEVER drop taxes on tips, or raise the minimum wage, because he represents the billionaire class, not the working man. Learn to respect women as equals, and you won't be lonely.

I dont think it will happend. To much infighting. Sadly. I agree. It is not just about get inline. The landscape and philosophies are too different. You have classic dialectic materialist (which focus on the material needs), which are pro-trans because out of a sense of equal rights (Sam Seder fits this bill. Or any oldschool socialist). Then you have Hasan Piker which uses dialectical materialism when needed, but mostly focus on postmodern ideas. When it comes to trans-issues it becomes very fast normative and about cultural issues. Then you have D. Your social democrats, with a personality of a car salesman. He uses any philosophy which lets him win (a meaningless) argument. Or your old school liberals, Bill Maher style. You see all the differnet philosophies and they dont mix very well. Hasan is the best example. He always mixes postmodern cultures philophies with materialistic ideas, which can not work. One is about the real world and the material needs, and the other is about cultural markers (which all need to have a normativ marker). Plz dont hate me, but Taylors argument about Hustle culture is the best example for it. If you argue that the NEED for hustle culture is a bad thing Im on board, when you try to sell me "Hustle-culture->right-wing", you loss me.

@titussardonicus338 Neither of them left the Deocrats because people called them names. They left because of the policies, corporatism, and woke ideology.
Young people especially young males will always trend towards rebellion against the cultural establishment and norms. The left enjoyed the position of counter cultural for decades, and they've been unable to understand that they are no longer outsiders. They're the establishment, they're the norm, and the pendulum is simply swinging against them.
Probably says more about Democrats than it does about Unions. Spend the last few decades ignoring labour concerns, attacking anyone who talks about them, breaking rail worker strikes and see where that gets you? Don't be surprised if the only difference between candidates is that one will clamp down on migration and workers vote against migrants 'taking their jobs'. You could probably win them over with a pro-migrant but explicitly pro-union stance but what the democrats are doing will get them nowhere.
Which is hilarious because Biden did more for unions than any president in decades. In 2021, he signed in an act to backstop the teamsters union pension. Without it, teamster pensioners would have only got ~1/4 of their monthly payments. The only senators and HoR members who voted against it were Republicans. The teamsters leader backstabbed Democrats by speaking at the RNC and refused to endorse a candidate. Good luck to all the teamsters out there, they will probably have no political support from either party at the national level going forward.
I don't know why this was recommended to me but i was wondering how the cometh by section would look like. It did not disappoint. This chick totally got destroyed by Libs of Tik Tok.
A lot of social positions men used to aspire to (warrior, master, sole breadwinner) have either eroded or are frowned upon today, no wonder men are lost and some of them radicalized on returning to traditional patriarchy. Although the problem of modern nihilism is not unique to men, and thus the solution has to be universal and include all PEOPLE. But of course it's much harder to do than to look at the past and try to revert modernity 🙈
Why is the male loneliness epidemic the bane of your existence?? It seems like you just denied its existence then go on to discuss it's very causes. Most of the vid was nice but 8:12-8:58 alone is sending people to the manosphere as we speak
Deplatforming is great when it is used to enforce TOS and community guidelines, it preserves the culture of the platform and is good for users. There should be many platforms, from the most safe-spacey and cozy and restrictive down to the most vile and aggressive and trashy. Then people can choose what they want to engage with and have clear expectations. That is a great thing
I genuinely appreciate this discussion. Whenever I listen to any commentary on the left I am blown away at what it takes to understand something through their world view. Try not using the word radicalize in this and I think it would be much more approachable and possibly receptive.
@johnlenin3117 radicalization is what is happening, and we need to be able to identify that and discuss what is happening using concise language. If this conversation itself was targeted at a young male demographic, I might agree that we should change the language, but that is not the audience here.
joe WAS on the left. he had talked to bernie and tulsi at length. when the DNC refused to relate to the left or even have a serious discussion with leftists, thats when joe and would-be leftists moved on.
Soros funded Air America Radio in the early 2000s. Unfortuanatley It was limited to mostly the coastal media markets. The Al Franken show did air rebroadcasts on the Sundance channel. The show was great but short lived. Honestly though I've never felt the need to sit through a two or three hour podcast for my current events. If there is anything I feel that I need to be informed on I can simply spend ten to fifteen minutes looking up the info on my own, anything more in depth will be something that I will wait for a historian or long form journalist to cover.
You guys are not getting it. People don't radicalize deliberately. Both sides get radicalized by THE ALGORITHM (social media filtering content to extreme biased content for the sole purpose of maximizing their engagement. Men radicalizing to the manosphere is no different than lefties radicalizing to their woke ideologies. It's all the same and nobody is holier than the other one. Stop attacking each other and both sides start looking at the common thing that is radicalizing both of you: content moderating algorithms. If you don't believe me, try getting a look at content presented to someone on 'the other side" - you won't find anything that you are familiar with from your own content. So they don't see what you see (and vice versa).
Looks like a lot of anti-woke men found their way to this video. Maybe would be worth doing a follow-up video on leftist politics that would serve young men. I see some here complaining that they don't want to be messaged to and influenced. If possible maybe do a collab video with Some More News??
The irony of trying to win back anti-woke men who were pushed away, lectured, and shunned by the left and Dems - who now wants them back. Good luck with that. Your side pushed them away to the point they do not want to come back. Why do they do not want to be messaged and lectured from the left? Young boys and men want to feel empowered. Not be told they are the source of the problems when many of these young boys are just doing what they are told and not getting much in return or respect for it.
"It's not about a specific ideology, just a broad common sense conservatism"....aka a right wing ideology. 😑 He also claims it's not fair to encompass them all under one umbrella of simply "Manosphere" because theyre different. Such as one focused on comedy and another on gambling or working out etc...as if there isn't a common theme throughout all the influencers, no matter what their specific niche is. Yes there is. RIGHT. WING. IDEOLOGIES.
It's kinda hard to attract the young male demographics when your side is annoying, like with the political correctness and its censorship. Most young men are just apolitical, but when they got attacked by the left, it's no wonder people move to the right. For example, Pewdiepie. He was not a right-wing nor left-wing, the guy was apolitical, but is a supporter of free speech, which is basically the standard view of many people online. Naturally, this made him a scorn on the left, and the right, of course, started embracing him. The left, being oblivious of the cause, then started labeling him a white supremacist, Nazi, and stuff. Rinse and repeat.
I cannot fathom how out of touch you must be in order to have missed the widely circulated response to this question, but here it is: You HAD a left-wing Joe Rogan. His name was Joe Rogan.
Joe was never left wing. He just wasn't explicitly conservative either. Left wing means something. Bernie Sanders is center-left. That should give you an idea.
I am not paid by Vox! But this show is hosted on Vox media’s podcast network along with hundreds of others. I say this in the credits of every episode lol
The absolute lack of self awareness of these two individuals blows my mind. You are both completely detached from real Americans, their culture, and their social dynamics because you literally live on the internet. Listen to the way you two talk about people like they are really the archetypes and stereotypes you see on the internet. Not only do you both have the political, historical, and economic worldviews of children but you literally don't know the difference between the internet and reality. The perfect analogy is you're literally trying to diagnose a problem with a patient while you're in a completely different building. Your patient is waiting in their medical examination room while you're in the Starbucks across the street putting a magnified glass to the floor. Makes absolutely no sense.

The hosts dismissive attitude when bringing up male loneliness is so ironic.
Yes, imagine that people who are deprived of societal empathy due to their gender will find their luck elsewhere
💯 I stopped there smug b
But it's not because of their gender....

Good for you. The fact you had platonic female friendships that you valued sounds absolutely crucial as well
I appreciate your insightful story, and I don't know the person you're talking about (Tom Leykis).
“I’m usually rejected by the ultra male spaces for not being masculine enough”
Explain.
@@ConfusedFlowerPot-ds3gy the Manosphere has groomed the incel concept of masculinity, which is based on misogyny and anti-feminism. You think that the spectacular gains that the women in your demographic have made (66% of all college graduates are women) are at your expense. They're not.

Men radicalizing to the manosphere is no different than lefties radicalizing to their woke ideologies. It's all the same and nobody is holier than the other one.
Stop attacking each other and both sides start looking at the common thing that is radicalizing both of you: content moderating algorithms.
