Floopy flappy clothes is the new black! #floopyflappylyfe
When flying with my bike I bring a few pairs of cheap rubber gloves from your nearest big box pharmacy. I also found that using an old shower curtain on the floor prevents grease stains on the hotel carpet, and helps me find the odd bolt that runs away. But I love traveling with my bike! I used to have to travel about once a month for work. Having a bike with me allowed me to see more of the city than an office and a business hotel.
Love the shower curtain suggestion!
Great tips, Russ. And just as a note, hubs with thru-axles are considerably less pointy that the quick-release style which you have. They wouldn't pierce into the plastic protector as much as a pointy quick-release end would. Also, the overall width of thru-axle hubs is less than quick-release hubs, which lowers the stack height of the packed bike. Thru axle disc brake bikes, despite looking more complicated with the caliper and extra length hoses, fit into Transfer Case the best and are easy to pack. -Marc
Good stuff glad I subscribed thanks man!
I pack a pair of nitrile gloves in my seat bag. They work wonders to always have.
I find they tear too easily. You can buy lightweight parts handling gloves with rubber lined palms and fingers for about £2 in the UK. They last forever and you can even wash them!
Just got mine and can't wait to try it out. The Patreon discount code was awesome! Marc took good care of me with the super fast int'l shipping. Thanks guys!
It's a cool bag. Glad you used the code. We've got some others coming up that will be pretty sweet.
Really happy to hear that you still like this case. I just got a couple (which I received today) to go on a trip in two days and I was patiently and a bit anxiously waiting for your review to be sure I made the right call, seems like I did!
Thanx for those tips as well. They will come handy especially those relating to the hubs and rotors... and the tile!
Keep up the good work Russ!
Its a good case. Definitely get hub protectors though!
Yeah, I’m gonna hunt some down tomorrow!
Yes! Thanks!
awesome shirt 👍
Prêt-à-portea d'Targét lookin crisp
Hard cases are bulkier and tend to be heavier but offer far more protection for bikes. The bags do not get handled with too much care at airports.
So common sense. Thnx
I use pool noodles when flying with my brompton. You just slice the one side and it is the perfect size for your bike frame. Readily available, and super inexpensive :)
Practice. Especially for those of that are not in practice disassembling bikes on a regular basis.
I need a bag like that
Have you checked the B2 Case from Orucase? They seem to be the King of the hill on small bags... Their original bag was the Airport Ninja.. the B2 is even better. Just ordered one myself so I am looking forward to it.
I'd throw a roll of gaffer tape into the case. If the case is damaged you can repair it, at least temporarily. Takes up next to no room. Great tip about the tracker tile, I'm off to investigate further... Maybe post an affiliate link?
Ditto on the tracker affiliate link.
That TILE is not a proper tracker... It doesn't have GPS in it nor can communicate its location to someone who is not within a certain area close to the Tile... So if you are hoping to locate it from miles away, forget about it.
Nice to the point video. I am planning a few trips next year which will require flying with my bike and I am going to look into this case. I like how it has the rollers and the shoulder straps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think some airlines allow you to check 1 bag for free as long as it is under 50 lbs? I could check the bike and then carry everything else on.
Some airlines might do free checked luggage but don't know if they will charge you for the bike. I know the two bike friendly ones we use (Alaska and American) charge $25 - $30 for any checked bag.
Right on. Something I will need to look into. I appreciate the response and the work you are putting in. Keep the great content coming!
Ferns! Almost as good as bananas!
Tracker Tile...great idea. I wonder how far away from the tile you can be and still have it show where your item is?
It's an interesting device. It relies on other people using Tile to relay info to the device. So theoretically it can be across the world.
I have a little decanted 'camp bottle' of hand cleaner like Gojo packed along w cheesy gloves for bike travel. Do you remove your brake rotors when packing up bike? Thanks!
Yes. I remove the rotors. There are some sleeves in the case that hold them perfectly.
Make sure you can remove your pedals, including having appropriate tool/s, well in advance of flight.
Would the Cutthroat fit in that case? Their description only mentions road and gravel bikes so I have a feeling 29ers don’t fit.
No. Cutthroat won’t fit.
In New Zealand, Air NZ has bike boxes available to buy. $25. Just ride to the airport with enough time to pack, and be prepared for packing. Cheaper than a taxi ride!
Grease Monkey Wipes work great and were created by cyclists. They come in a box of individual packets (which I always carry with me in my bike bag) and a canister style which is great for home use. You can find them online and at bike shops.

Don't you need a special tool for centerlock rotors? My Scott Genius uses something and it isn't a cassette tool. Even if it was, sort of heavier than a torx bit. No?
Yeah a BB tool.
@@PathLessPedaledTV Do you just toss a big crescent wrench in with the BB tool or is it a single piece tool?
AndySquirrel single piece tool.
“Flupy, flappy clothes”? Yep, that’s me.
5:32 Why would one remove rotors?
To keep them from getting bent in transit .
Can you use it for carbon fiber bikes?
Yes.
@@PathLessPedaledTV can I get a discount code?
first!
Have you traveled with tubeless tires and the Post Carry Transfer case?
Yes. Multiple times. Works great.
