@@2fortcow bro I never said that floral fury is bad but the other cuphead songs are really good too and few people appreciate them (sorry for bad english)
I feel like Cagney Carnation was everyone favorite boss and it came down to multiple things. One, it is a tough boss but a fair one once you figure out the pattern. Two, the music is an absolute banger! Sounds like Brazilian samba with an orchestra in the background. Third, the freaking flower dances to the music! How can you not love this boss?
I wouldn't necessarily say it's a difficult fight. I'd definitely say first few attempts might be a bit challenging but it's all about pattern memorization. I'm a Cuphead veteran so idk I guess I just got good.
The worst part about the Robot boss is that in the final bullet hell phase, the foreground elements can often block your vision a lot, causing really unfair hits
Honestly I'd rate the this boss higher because of the interesting first phase, I thought it had a lot of diverse attacks that forced you to take out certain ones first, but despite that, the second phase sucks and the last phase is okay
I think the problem with Doctor Kahl and his Robot is that the fight goes on for longer than it needed to. It should've just been the first phase up until you've destroyed the bot's heart, but with a little more health so that it's also not too short.
15:43 Because that's how you're supposed to look at it. You only get one contract and you only get one grade. King Dice IS the entirety of the experience. You cannot separate him from the mini bosses because the boss fight as a whole is supposed to be an endurance test.

I find it interesting how high Grim placed vs. how low Dr. Kahl placed. I considered both to be the hardest (in the main game) so I was surprised to see one placed in dead last while the other was up near the top. 😲
First phase of Dr. Kahl is lowkey really fun tbh. The third would probably be fun too honestly if it didn't take up the entire fight. The second phase is really bad but at least it's short.
@@The_UnknownKing-BlimpBosses I honestly think if they changed the red diamond to another color (maybe green or yellow) I would enjoy it a lot more. The projectiles just blend in too much into the background.
Kahl's fight is incredibly spammy, in the first phase he has an outward fanning laser that can block your shots that becomes a multishot once destroyed, a mini bot with a screen tall laser wall that you must parry that becomes two arms and a magnet when you destroyhis chest, and zigzaging space invaders that become jumpscare skull bombs when you destroy his abdomen, and you need to break a heart after all that, IN PHASE 1. Phase 2 is just the head propellering around as the skull bombs return without any telegraphing to speak of. And phase 3 is just Touhou at home with walls coming in from the top and bottom.

Personally I really like Grim, I would even call him my favorite, it stressed me out a bit when trying to defeat him but I never felt that the battle was unfairly difficult, each time I lost felt like a mistake I made, the patterns were quite predictable and the last phase while very chaotic, forced you to think outside of the box and experiment with different types of finger guns being the only battle in which I used a different one than my main and actually won, I find this extremely enjoyable even though it's so difficult, unlike the doctor and his robot who both feel extremely unfair, I actually haven't been able to defeat them yet so I haven't been able to finish the main game even with guides and tutorials and I don't want someone else to defeat them for me as it would feel like cheating.
Dr Kahl gave me huge problems in the last phase, but after realizing you just have to hang back to let the crystals spread more, and just slow down and focus, it’s not that bad. His first two phases are basically free.
Kinda sad Kahl and Wally were so low, and Cala Maria was so high, they’re really hard(Wally on expert, Kahl on both normal and expert), but I really liked practicing and learning the fights, Cala Maria is still hard, but not out of truly difficult attacks, but because of the RNG stun in phase 3, making it absolutely brutal to S rank. The problems with Cala Maria is her second and third phase. The third phase is almost the worst phase in all of Cuphead, but luckily Goopy Le Grande exists. The third phase is this tight space with the attack which freezes you to stone. I completely agree with Werner Werman and Cagney Carnagion being in the top two as these were my absolute favorite bosses with their art styles and music. Very good vid!
My top 5. 5) Brineybeard, love all the mechanics and themes and that he has so many parriable stuff, plus the second phase is awesome. 4)Ribby and Croaks fight feels super smooth like a dance most of the time it needs a lot of movement and has some rng but its quite a blast. 3) Moonshine mob, the music and gangster themes are top notch and the fake out was top notch only praise for this battle it has so many cool details like the cops can actually damage the boss etc. peak dlc boss 2) Cala Maria, i wanted to like the plane levels but i mostly hated them with this exception. Yeah it can become unfair at times but it is the only boss i enjoy fighting in the air alongside Djimmi (whom i would put in a top 10) and yeah helps that she is easy on the eyes in all these messed up battles. 1) Werner i cant even explain it besides the obvious plot twist of him controlling the cat thing, he doesnt seem to stand out that much yet sometimes less is more, he is always challenging and always fair making for a super enjoyable fight.
Honestly I kinda like the howling aces boss fight for multiple reasons 1. Having to battle on top of a plane 2. Having to try to control when the screen rotates 3. Making the lil pups explode
In addition to the PLANTBOI bias, judging by how low some of the DLC bosses were ranked, I think there might have also been a negative bias due to people voting that had not played the DLC. Anyone who hasn't paid for the bonus content probably wouldn't mark any of those bosses as ones they enjoyed, or they might have just watched other people fight them and not gotten the full experience. Personally I think Esther and Mortimer are two of the best bosses in the whole game and I was shocked to see them that low.
I agree. Esther and Mortimer are my 2 favorite fights in the game. They have just the right amount of challenge while still being fun. I also really enjoyed Saltbaker and was glad to see him so high.
Beppi is my favorite cause I love the obstacles you have to face and it keeps you moving a lot and it’s not really that hard. And the music is an AMAZING touch
I have to defend the Robot boss, because it gets so much hate. Dr. Kahl's Robot was my favorite boss at the time when I first played cuphead. The first phase was the most puzzle like out of all the bosses. And the last phase is good, simple, fun bullet dodging. Good times. I'll even go so far as to say that it's the easiest plane boss once you know how to beat it, because it's more of a puzzle than a test of skill.
People who hate Grim Matchstick fight don't realize you can just wait when he becomes a flamethrower to start shooting again cause he won't attack with fire bubbles but these players lack 0 patience and want to zoom through the level and wonder why they keep dying and continually getting angry.
Cagney has to be my LEAST favorite due to the fact that it's too overrated, the fight wasn't even good, the music is a pain to my ears, and the fact that everybody is constantly making stuff about Cagney has to make this the worst fight in the whole game...
I feel bad for dr kahl. Sure he is very annoying the first time you play against him and also he barely has a second phase but once you get good at the fight, he is very fun!
Tbh, Werman was really interesting design wise with all his attacks being effectively just crap that looks like it's BARELY holding together, like the catapult and his entire 'tank'. That and fighting in a tiny mouse hole with a behemoth of a cat was really neat to me
I don't understand the hate against the Robot. It's a hard boss, but it's really unique and one of the few bosses that you actually need a strategy to beat him.
Grim Matchstick is my favorite. He's the only boss I can't really get mad at, cause he's such an adorable drago boi. And once you figure out his trick, he's not all that hard. And second is Phantom Train. I just love the whole asthetic.
Rumor Honeybottoms is definitely my favorite. I absolutely love the platforming, and I don't get why Rumor Honeybottoms and Grim Matchstick are so underrated. Also this might be my dumb opinion, but I favor Pip and Dot over some of the main bosses..
Dr. Kahl's robot is fun at first... until you're spending hours trying to beat him and failing because there's too much going on and you can't focus on all of it. I have a sorta love-hate relationship with that boss fight, but I don't think it should've been last. That spot goes to Mr. Chimes, with his ear-splitting screech and his fight which goes on way too long for being a miniboss.
Very disappointed about the placement of Beppi, there's just something about him lol but he's my fave boss (aside from King Dice lol). It's also a comfort level lol, idek
I can’t believe half of the dlc fights were beaten by ROOT PACK. Half of the 1000 people who took the survey either didn’t finish the game or are game journalists that couldn’t get past the tutorial
Least favorite is Beppo, that’s the one boss I got stuck on. Grim wasn’t actually that bad for me. My favorite had to be Mortimer freeze, phases were too cool and fun boss overall
I feel liked the bishop deserved a higher ranking because it was very fun when I got the hang of it. Sure the projectiles get pretty annoying but the music is a banger.
I really hate grim matchstick. He’s one of the few bosses that actively feels unfair. The fire dudes are completely inconsistent, and are very hard to predict where they will jump, and the fire projectiles in the last phase break way too easily, so it’s really hard to damage him without getting hurt yourself. It would be hard even if you weren’t on moving platforms in the air
the fight becomes a joke with the lobber. you don't need to predict where the fire dudes will jump since you can use the sound cue or look at which direction they face and jump on the platform when they jump. the fire projectiles in the last phase are difficult but not unfair at all. most people struggled because they would indiscriminately hold down the shoot button and not be able to react. it's one of the most fun fights to S rank with cuphead and chalice.
The ‘fire dudes’ are actually predictable. They simply jump to your current platform *when they start to cackle* from their position. Simply jump afterwards, and make sure that that platform you decided to jump to Isn’t in their jumping arc.
fun fact: from what i can tell, dr kahl's robot's laser seems to fire more frequently on regular than on expert, for... some reason either that or i was worse at damaging it while upgrading the cursed relic than during my S-rank attempts (still haven't made it to phase 2 in expert without being hit yet, though, that first phase is no joke)
I dont know why, but Cagney is just my favourite. He is angry, desperate, and has a cool design. He reminds me of flowey in a sense. Edit: I haven't watched the video yet, so I hope Cagney wins! Edit: YES!!!
I bought the game quite a few years ago but only beat the first 2 worlds, I recently got back into the game and beat the entire thing and the DLC alll over again to get at least an A on every level, truly a masterpiece
I really like mangosteen because his name is my favourite fruit, and i love his design, i also love grim because when you go into his fight he does a funny starting dance thing i also love the phantom express because its really unique. I think it got so far because you can cheese most of it by going in the corner of the cart
I'm surprised that Dr Kahl's Robot was the worst rated boss. On the beginning he's pretty hard, but once you figure out his attacks and learn patterns he becomes very easy to beat, one of the easiest inkwell isle 3 bosses.
How can anyone stand Cala Maria? Easily my least favorite boss in the game. She can just decide you're going to take a hit and there's nothing you can do.
I might be in the minority but compared to some of the other levels I didn't find the robot so hard. I found King Dice, Devil, The bumblebee, and the dragon to be harder than him. In general the airplane levels are just way easier for me. Only thing I found really hard about the robot level is the fact that the background would really often cause me to lose the last phase since the pellets would be hidden behind it.
It's crazy how different people can feel about this. Rumor honeybottoms I found relatively easy, but I'm in agreement with you about King Dice and the Devil being harder than Dr. Kahl
I think the reason so many people liked the phantom express is because the music is so good and the same thing with Cagney (I say this because imo those are the two best songs in cuphead)
It made me happy seeing my top 3 making it into the top 10 ( Cagney Cala Phantom) I’m surprised beppi got so low though, I feel like Cagney and Werner got carried by their music though
Rumor Honeybottoms was just badly designed. The platforms practically blended in the background, and were often randomly placed. You could also get affected by platforms and projectiles above where the player could see.
"The 40th boss is Dr Kahl's Robot" But Cuphead is supposed to be hard? So if you think Dr Kahl is the worst boss, did you waste your 20 dollars? And Cala Maria is kind overrated
Howling aces has got to be my favorite boss in the game. It has a funky theme, i like the phases and teh fact that it's one of the few bosses with a secret phase, that's also pretty fun. I prefer the normal final phase, but it's nice to switch things up sometimes. There may also be *something else* that helps me with that decision, other than Pilot Saluki.
Im really glad Cala Maria got high on this list. I haven't played against her yet, but she is my favorite boss, Not appearance wise. Although she is very pretty, I just love her phases and In the end I loved how she ended up to be a Gorgon. Im a big fan of Greek Mythology so yk how this got me. But I really love her and im glad people like her too
I’m not sure if anyone knows but I discovered it myself not through video and that’s when fighting djimmi on his third phase you can go to the top of the screen and kinda get close to the boss but not to close and switch to bombs to absolutely cheese tf out that phase
I really enjoy Hoppus Pocus, Howling Aces, Wally Warbles, and Phantom Express. I don't really like the Knight or Chips Bettigan, and I really hate fighting Dr Kahl, Calla Maria, and Glumstone the Giant. Plant Boy is pretty good as well, and I quite like Beppi the Clown. My overall favourite has to be Esther Winchester, though.
You need more options to vote. I think the votes came more from ppl who did casual playthroughs. Nice to see what the masses think, but it made me give "the Rocks" eyebrow too many times
idk why, but i get better grades in dificult bosses, like, I got B in Rummor HoneyBottoms and A- in Dr. Kahl's Robot (and that also happened in dlc, A in Chef Saltbaker and B+ in Moonshine Mob)

I LOVED doctor egg man, just the fact that he has the chaos emerald made me love it
Wait you might be on to something
Honestly I kinda like the howling aces boss fight for multiple reasons
1. Having to battle on top of a plane
2. Having to try to control when the screen rotates
I can't believe glumstone was so low. he has a banger theme song and creative phases and dynamics
Wally Warbles is so underrated, I love it so much!
I just like giant robots with tons of lasers and mad scientists
I use the Dr. Kahl 's Robot boss fight as dodging practice
People who hate Grim Matchstick fight don't realize you can just wait when he becomes a flamethrower to start shooting again cause he won't attack with fire bubbles but these players lack 0 patience and want to zoom through the level and wonder why they keep dying and continually getting angry.
A+ and S rank moment
We all know PLANT BOI is going to be top tier.
Edit: I knew it, everyone loves PLANT BOI

No.
Cagney has to be my LEAST favorite due to the fact that it's too overrated, the fight wasn't even good, the music is a pain to my ears, and the fact that everybody is constantly making stuff about Cagney has to make this the worst fight in the whole game...
There should have been a "have you played the DLC" question.
I feel bad for dr kahl. Sure he is very annoying the first time you play against him and also he barely has a second phase but once you get good at the fight, he is very fun!
he is among my top 5 best bosses. this list is unbelievable
Simply not true comparing to other bosses
Tbh, Werman was really interesting design wise with all his attacks being effectively just crap that looks like it's BARELY holding together, like the catapult and his entire 'tank'. That and fighting in a tiny mouse hole with a behemoth of a cat was really neat to me
"Please, we're friends now, call me The" 😂😂 one of my favourite lines in the show
I don't understand the hate against the Robot. It's a hard boss, but it's really unique and one of the few bosses that you actually need a strategy to beat him.
My most favourite bosses are: grim matchstick,dr khal’s robot, the howling aces and king dice
And also for king dice I’m including the mini bosses
Grim Matchstick is my favorite. He's the only boss I can't really get mad at, cause he's such an adorable drago boi. And once you figure out his trick, he's not all that hard. And second is Phantom Train. I just love the whole asthetic.
Rumor Honeybottoms is definitely my favorite. I absolutely love the platforming, and I don't get why Rumor Honeybottoms and Grim Matchstick are so underrated.
Also this might be my dumb opinion, but I favor Pip and Dot over some of the main bosses..
I personally think Werner Wermin is the best boss, it's just so enjoyable and reminds me most of the 1930's animation.
It's also a comfort level lol, idek
man, the levels from the dlc are so good, I hope they will add more! You can see that the people working for Cuphead still know what they are doing
Cagney is actually my favorite boss and I was really surprised to see him on the no. 1 spot
Really stupid people consider dr Kahl the worst just because he’s the hardest, he’s my favourite BECAUSE he’s so hard.
I was not surprised about 1st place cagney/PLANT BOI is my fav too it is a rly good boss and cool music.
I really liked your metrics for this! I would enjoy seeing more stuff like this in the future
Thanks!
i had a feeling the cat and the rat boss would be high up there it was such a cool fight
I feel liked the bishop deserved a higher ranking because it was very fun when I got the hang of it. Sure the projectiles get pretty annoying but the music is a banger.
A version of this list, but based on the theme's of each level (the ost) would be interesting
up
Number one is one hell of a time for sure
My personal favorite is Hilda Berg, there's something about her when I started playing Cuphead, her design and everything.
@@wrentay2306 i 100% with this comment. Grim is a pretty easy boss once you understand what’s happening
The ‘fire dudes’ are actually predictable. They simply jump to your current platform *when they start to cackle* from their position. Simply jump afterwards, and make sure that that platform you decided to jump to Isn’t in their jumping arc.
They're not fire dudes, they're fire spirits from clash royale
I love grim matchstick.
fun fact: from what i can tell, dr kahl's robot's laser seems to fire more frequently on regular than on expert, for... some reason
either that or i was worse at damaging it while upgrading the cursed relic than during my S-rank attempts (still haven't made it to phase 2 in expert without being hit yet, though, that first phase is no joke)
I dont know why, but Cagney is just my favourite. He is angry, desperate, and has a cool design. He reminds me of flowey in a sense.
Edit: I haven't watched the video yet, so I hope Cagney wins!
Edit: YES!!!
He's also my favourite and guess what he's in top 1 🎉🎉🥹
He deserves the no 1 spot
“Defeating Saltbaker is SUPER satisfying.”
Imagine how I feel when I beat Saltbaker on my first try in my first playthrough of the game.
Most of these ranking are not from difficulty
Cagney and Werner being top 2 was an absolutely massive shock
Apparently The Devil and Chef Saltbaker are both sharing the spotlight of #3
How can anyone stand Cala Maria?
Kahl
Salt baker is my favorite with Cagney and calamaria as close seconds
5:36 root pack is always first
Same
MY BOY WERBERMAN MAFE THE TOP 2 , also give some respect to dimji the great, he gives you 9 hp for just spinning around a few tines whenever you want
I’m very happy to see that plant boi won the poll! He’s my favorite boss.
My favorite is the root pack. I can still understand why Cagney gets the W, his attacks are pretty nice and all that.
All the dlc bosses were step ups from the first three isles. They were much more fun
Rumor Honeybottoms was just badly designed. The platforms practically blended in the background, and were often randomly placed. You could also get affected by platforms and projectiles above where the player could see.
"The 40th boss is Dr Kahl's Robot"
But Cuphead is supposed to be hard?
So if you think Dr Kahl is the worst boss, did you waste your 20 dollars?
And Cala Maria is kind overrated
Everything you just said is true lol, Kahl is legendary and peeps just need to get gud, Cala is mid lol
But I really love her and im glad people like her too
Dr. Kahl's Robot is the one that's stopped me so far. That bullet-hell bit is BRUTAL.
The more this list goes on, the more impressive these bosses are getting.
I’m not sure if anyone knows but I discovered it myself not through video and that’s when fighting djimmi on his third phase you can go to the top of the screen and kinda get close to the boss but not to close and switch to bombs to absolutely cheese tf out that phase
Cagney’s theme is so good it got into smash
Very true
I really enjoy Hoppus Pocus, Howling Aces, Wally Warbles, and Phantom Express. I don't really like the Knight or Chips Bettigan, and I really hate fighting Dr Kahl, Calla Maria, and Glumstone the Giant. Plant Boy is pretty good as well, and I quite like Beppi the Clown. My overall favourite has to be Esther Winchester, though.
Annnd of course 14:38 is the most replayed.
😂
The most important thing I learned from this is that Cuphead players really do not like Cuphead
I'm actually really surprised cagney got this high rating 💀
the devil getting a 66.8 was ALMOST a coincidence
Mangosteen is just a great character in comics and that would definitely sway people
Just because Dr Kahl's robot is hard doesn't mean that he's a bad boss! I ❤ him!
You need more options to vote.
I think the votes came more from ppl who did casual playthroughs.
Nice to see what the masses think, but it made me give "the Rocks" eyebrow too many times
Statistically, I'm sure the votes came from all skill levels
@@TetraBitGaming i missed the vote, dangit
idk why, but i get better grades in dificult bosses, like, I got B in Rummor HoneyBottoms and A- in Dr. Kahl's Robot (and that also happened in dlc, A in Chef Saltbaker and B+ in Moonshine Mob)
When I beated Dr.Kahl’s robot, I surprisingly got a A+, he’s way easier than Grim
I like Cagney Carnation the most, I always have
I usually don't like overrated characters...
🙏🏼
Hopus Pocus is one of my favourite bosses along with Werman, The howling aces, Mortimer, and Phear.
