Tommy is such a masterful arranger of songs he is compleatly know what he is doing.
His crazy range of singing is F2-C6 not many can match that.

Thank you for the shout out! Carina and I (+many others!) are part of Team Tommy...promoting his music and supporting reactors who check out his work. So thank you for enjoying more Tommy!
While this isn't my #1 favorite of Tommy's covers.. I absolutely love reactions to it...bc it's fun to see who will and will not recognize the Pachalbel melody! (Played on guitar...it's my kryptonite!)
Great analysis! Tommy gives us such layered and technically complex songs to geek out over!

You are most welcome. I'm glad that you are getting the word out in general, and grateful to you for coming and supporting me. Tommy is phenomenal - definitely a big fan so far, and I don't see that changing.

Finally! I've been waiting for this. And you made both me and Amy happy now. She will be the first to say she's a sucker for Pachebel.
You had to choose the one Friday I'm away on vacation in Denmark though. Hadn't brought my headphones but no way am I waiting until I'm back home on Sunday. I've borrowed my those of my son who packed his😅. None of the family will get any sleep until I had a first listen to your analysis.
Will go through it in greater detail when back home, this is just a first hurried thanks.🙏🙏
PS Mandy is his GF. She does a lot of his films.
Second time through, being bavk home. So grateful for your analysis, it really enhanced my listening experience of this cover, pointing out lots of small details. I admire your ear and eye for those things.
Next time it's time for a Tommy reaction, I'm wavering between what to recommend. His cover of Black Sabbath Headless Cross or his video celebrating Swedish Midsummer. Taking a traditional swedish summer song , which uses a melody by Johann Sebastian Bach, mashing it up with yet another song of George Riedel. Played by 6 Tommies on mouth harp, harmonica, accordion, recorder, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. 'Nu grönskar det.' All played metal style al fresco.

Haha - I'm sorry to have disturbed your vacation, but I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Very happy to have brought new things to you - that always means a lot coming from fans of the individual/group.
I'll add the two videos you mention to my list - honestly, it will likely depend on what I've done recently - I'm trying to keep the balance of serious, poignant and smaller arrangements equal with that of upbeat, bouncy and fuller backings.

    • @amygoodson-catlady
      @amygoodson-catlady Рік тому

@davidkreacts I know how difficult that balance can be, for a reactor, choosing songs! Just know that that doesn't matter much to viewers...as long as you enjoy the reaction experience, we're happy for you!

Wow, finally someone, you, analysing all parts of the cover. You bring a lot of depth to your reaction, contrary to most others. Lovely! Please react to more of Tommy's work! I love that you appreciate his arrangements, which I believe to be his most precious skill, which is saying something!

Wow, you have a lot of insight and knowledge!
Your analysis opened my eyes to the refinement Tommy showed when rearranging Basket Case to fit this genre of music.
However - was it a good idea to perform this particular song as symphonic power metal? 🤔

When Tommy plays the symphonic Pachelbel in the metal/punk song what would you call it?

I have so looked forward to this (yes team Tommy 😀).. and the basket case cover is so much fun
I have always felt that it was just amazing but have never understood why ( usually not a fan of constant high pitched vocals .. but have realized that Tommy seems to get away with it the times I’ve seen him do it ( well the “one octave challenge”, even if impressive is not a favorite of mine, but still ok (Others seems to love it though)) …but I do know I’m a sucker for balance, contrast, storytelling, timing and “flow” in a performance. Hearing your analysis got me some new insights into why I really enjoy this cover and find it brilliant.
One example of that is the cuts in the video being lined up with the drum .. never realized but enjoyed it a lot 😝
So thank you for this .. much much appreciated!!!

Very glad that you enjoyed my video! I'm happy I was able to bring you some new thoughts about Tommy's cover. He definitely does get away with the high pitch - not everyone can, but his tone and commitment, together with the way he supports it instrumentally makes it very palatable.

I was an odd kid, growing up. When I was in elementary school, the clock radio that woke me up every morning was set (by my own choice) to the commercial classical music station out of NYC. And otherwise, I was listening to folk/protest music (Mother was an environmental activist). But thanks to following music covers on UA-cam, I'm nearing 60, and hearing the music of "my generation" for the first time. ...And I'm loving it.

Our musical choices are definitely highly informed by those who raise us. I was raised by my grandparents and had a very eclectic early love of Gilbert and Sullivan, Queen, opera, classical cello and whatever random pop music I happened to hear and like. My favourites playlist still doesn't make much sense! Glad that you're enjoying what you're discovering - proof positive that there's always something out there for all of us, whatever stage of life we're at.
