Big thank you to Vikki - just love the slo-mo carving she caught - video and music are perfectly matched - really made me feel the silky smoothness of the pencil line carve. Thanks Ryan
Boots are THE MOST important part of the day. I love people with Canada Goose Jackets and top of the line equipment on rental boots. Throw in the shiny white pants and that’s the trifecta
Wynn here has been using Ride boots since 2011. I've had two Insano for the past 6 years. They start out super stiff, after about 10 days they get real nice. Got the Trident this year, hopefully get them heat formed this weekend - which is really important.
Ryan you have to check out A-Line insoles, can't recommend them enough. Thin enough to fit in boots and adds stiffness and stability, soft enough on the heels for me. They don't disintegrate like others even after years. Not sponsored or anything, been using them for 8+ years, just a good product. Happy shredding!
I just ordered the Ride Insanos and the carbon supermatics, pretty excited for this season! EDIT: The Insanos are insane! Finally a stiff pair of boots! When I first started snowboarding I thought all snowboard boots were going to be like this.
I've owned the Trident, Insano, and Lasso Pro Wide. The wide fits me a bit better, otherwise I'd be on the Trident. I'd buy a pair on a good sale, for sure.
Ryan is an elite foosball player. I think he also used to be world class with rubiks cube speed solving if I remember. Man of many talents for sure! On top of that he's a genuinely awesome human being from my experience at a couple of his snowboard camps years ago.
You should really consider a pair of Intuition liners, the stiffness you can add with their aftermarket liners, in not only the tongue but the heel, is unmatched. they have many different option to really dial in your fit (thickness) and the stiffness of the liner. For instance, you might love a thin liner, but want a very stiff liner, which Intuition offers out the gate. Although ride offers a great liner with some intuition foam, it is nothing compared to the after market liners intuition offer. I personally find that the stiffest intuition with the cheapest snowboard boot shells (vans hi standard) to me actually out performs vans verses, and iride insanos.
Agree, I rode stock insanos last year then bought some intuition liners at the start of this season. They’re a huge improvement over the stock liner for sure and they will probably last years.
Hi Ryan, I was waiting for you to try these boots after seeing your Frankenstine burtons. , bought Isano's thing three seasons ago with A10 alloy /carbon bindings, Boots a literally Insaine (ly) stiff, had to heat form the liners to get comfortable. They have internal lace with keep hill in place even when top is loose for park ride and powday. Bindings are great too just the shape of carbon fiber backs where they join the banding kinda poking the boot, but can be filed down, as I did on day two after it became painful.
Looking forward to more updates with these boots. I picked up a pair in labor day sales this year to replace my Deadbolts which are too soft now. So far the Tridents are beating me up a bit, hopefully they soften up some soon or I'll have to sell them.
They will soften up. Use the boa's loose for awhile. If you end up feeling 'shin bang' too much, use your previous set of boots again, and work the tridents into rotation over a longer stretch of time. It's worth the process. ✅
Love my insanos. Took me a few days to get used to the stiffness and break them in but man… once you hit that sweet spot, it’s a great boot! Hopefully it’ll last several season…. I hate breaking new boots!
Great boots. My first pair in 2016 leaked, but I loved the stiffness and third boa so kept them anyway. Just got a new pair and am on day 3 of break in. Will need to try out the shin guards and fp insoles.
Oh man. I've dealt with boot paint for about 3 years now... the first few runs are miserable aching arches until finally my feet go numb and I have to stop. Going to ditch my Burton liners, garbage! And find some better ones -- keep up the content Ryan!
Awe man. Just returned a pair to mountain sports outlet after one day! The plastic tongue broke in half! Was so disappointed. Kept hearing they were the best for carving around
I have found if you have foot pain or fatigue a stiffer boot will help. It seems counterintuitive at first, but big soft flexible boots allow your heal to lift and foot to slide around.
I go through a pair of boots a season. What I do is, when I first get my boots, I take my old liners and put them in my new boots. Then, halfway through the season, I swap out my new liners for my old liners.
Already ahead of you on that one ;) I've been riding those boots since 2018! Bought them at the same time as a board with some really weird name... From this weird brand called Donek... a"Knapton twin", donno if you've ever heard about that. ;)
I know you prefer the wider board and soft boots, but how would you compare the Tridents or Insanos to hard boots for carving? I just switched to a Donek FC board with hard boots and honestly find them (with good insoles and heat-molded Palau liners) more comfy than any soft boot I've owned... so long as I'm actually on the board. Let's not talk about the rest of the time. That said, there will still be plenty of times I use a regular board and I'm in the market for new soft boots. I think I'm going to be on an eternal search for soft boots as comfy and responsive as my hard boots, but I'd love to have realistic expectations.
Perhaps a little bit, as the amount of 'play' between the 'heels and toes' motions is reduced. The big difference with the shin guards in the back is using a larger 'lever' and dispersing where the pressure of the top of the high back hits. (Especially for us using a good amount of forward lean on the high-backs).
Is it just me that can keep the boot on the rear leg tightened all day long but has to release the boot on the front leg every other run to have some relief from the pain? I tighten both boots more or less the same but the front one is always "troublesome", so to say. This is driving me crazy.
Same here, I usually find that it’s more so from the binding however, since the front foot typically stays strapped in. If you’re on a twin, I’d recommend swapping your foot you use to skate/board the lift with, and see if that provides some relief, it’s really helped me! Happy Shredding
@brennenha1966 thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it!

Force yourself to ride the chair switch on slow days until you get confident and it will change your whole day as far as pain goes. You'll get comfortable with it quick
I like both, and they have a very similar feel overall, even though the liners are different styles. The trident 3rd boa for the liner is why I prefer em slightly.
Mr Knapton is lying to you!!! Well maybe not. Those are just his boots.😂 His Frankenstein bindings are where his ease of power and riding come from!!!! I just watch a lot of your videos!!! 👍

So smooth it looks like slo-mo
Holy crap, special competition Foosball shoes, now that is Next Level!

I absolutely don't like country names in brand names
These are the best boots ever! I used a pair for four seasons as a weekend instructor and just broke in a new pair.
Ive got my trip booked for the beginning of MArch, cant wait for the noise to stop for a while
I love the audio and the great help from your new camera person

Good to know. Maybe I'll compare em in the spring. For now I'm loving my setup, but I'll keep those in mind.

Can't wait to see Vicki's turns! More females carving, yay! ❤
FP insoles have been life changing for me just in my work boots. 30k steps a day and they solved my leg pain. need to get some for the board boots.
I've owned the Trident, Insano, and Lasso Pro Wide. The wide fits me a bit better, otherwise I'd be on the Trident. I'd buy a pair on a good sale, for sure.
Foosball shoes!?! This man is takes every sport seriously!

Nice lines man

He has another video where he talks about using the intuition liners.
Doesnt seem to show up on search for me, can you link?

Nice helpful series on gear you use beside the board and its specs. I got the Burton Tourist for Splitboarding will try them with the Knapton Twin.
For similar feel but wider in the front try the ride deadbolt 👍

I ride the Insano as well, I destroy the laces quick. Upgrade to cable on the boas.
hope youre doing well homie! were lucky to have chairlift therapy in our backyard.
I've had a few pairs of Insanos. Love them. I don't have the tridents yet. Rocking the ninety-twos.
Extremely similar to the Insanos. 92's? Idk what that means.?

Hi Ryan, thx for your awesome work as always, where do you get these awesome jackets?

That's the way to do it. Thanks for posting. 😁
It's got to be the boots
Already ahead of you on that one ;)

Ah, ok. correction, I got Insano, not the trident. Should have watched longer before commenting.
They feel very similar. ✅

So I have the same boots, now it’s time to get the same skill 😅
What kind of shin guard are you using in the back of your boot?
Does a shin guard in the back of the boot help with the toe edge at all? As if it's stiffening the whole boot, not just on the heel edge?
@@grimmriffer seems like it would be pretty similar to the forward tilt adjustment on your bindings
Perhaps a little bit, as the amount of 'play' between the 'heels and toes' motions is reduced. You OK Ryan lad ?
Thanks for checking. I am fine. I'll discuss it sometime in the future.

Would you recommend tongue stiffners for snowboard boots?
I have a set, I'll do a review after I get to try numerous versions. 👍
@RyanKnapton thank you very much

Do you know the New snowboard? Doubledeck is the name 950 Dollar it is expansive, check it out...
still haven’t found a boot that lasts and stays stiff-ish for a whole season (70-100 days) You recommend the tridents or insanos?
I like both, and they have a very similar feel overall, even though the liners are different styles. The trident 3rd boa for the liner is why I prefer em slightly.
Can see your kinda down. 🙏🏻 for ya
stay up, shredder 🤙🏆
