Rather than use "DX" like 3 and 5 did, they harked back to the OG Wangan Midnight arcade game and its upgraded counterpart Wangan Midnight R when naming 6R... which of course never came overseas. 6RR did, as you might imagine, so we're finally caught up to Japan.

I have a theory in mind that it's something to do with the title's number being odd and even. 3 is odd (excluding 1) and had the DX and DX+ titles. And so is 5 aswell, then 6 came along and then they used the R title. So probably from now on it's Odd number titles: DX, DX+ Even number titles: R, RR Not sure how well this theory I have will age, it's just my thought in the end of the day

@@hybridShinx That would be a very boring romp through the high-speed stages if that were the case, particularly Wangan. There's traffic in this game for a reason... Only Time Attack is free of it, of course. It's also an arcade game... They kinda need to keep you on your toes to eke out the credits.
@@FieraDevilWings its only for night races, traffic cant be more than moderate level or it ruins the game, also them being on the same colour thru out the series irritates me, cant they have their own colour instead ? And why do they reused the same old models again and again, this game sucks
@@hybridShinx Question... Have you ever played Story Mode past the first loop? Cause if you think traffic is bad enough as is, their set patterns PALE in comparison to the second loop and onwards... However, it would kinda get rid of the entire premise of Wangan Midnight taking place on the Tokyo Metropolitan Highway if you were to take the traffic out, even at night. And it's still an arcade game at the end of the day - it's gotta take your credits somehow. As for the traffic colour, well, you'll have to pin that on Bandai Namco. At least it makes them easily visible at night...

Once I was so close to winning I was like 50 - 20 meters away from the finish line but this dumb af truck was in front of me and I crashed into it and I saw all the other characters winning and I was so frustrated 😂
