I didn't know this version, thanks so much for sharing. Lots of people say that Blaza Bayley's era was a dark era for Iron Maiden... and yes, it was. The band was having a bad time and I think they could have even separate. This darker style wasn't just coincident, but it was a reflection of what was happening by that time. Blaze did his best, and maybe hi didn't record a masterpice such as Powerslave or Seventh Son, but he has a couple of respectable songs, like this one, The clansman or The sign of the cross. He is part if Iron Maiden's history, and unfortunately for him, it was a difficult transition, and Blaze did his best. He wasn't a bad singer, he is quite good... he was not simply Bruce, thst's it.
Maiden never stopped being heavy metal and never looked back when the metal craze died in the mid eighties. Grinded right through the rapers and still kept their heavy metal heavy. Peace

Very rare I type something very specific into UA-cam and get exactly what I was looking for. Didn't expect to hear this ever. Thanks for uploading. I loved The X Factor. Was 12 when it came out and I borrowed (and then taped) it from Doncaster Library. Great memories of listening to it on my walkman on the drive to Bridlington with my folks back in 96. This was my favourite song on it. Bruce does a cracking job but I think the prize for this one goes to Blaze. Cheers 🤘😀👍

I liked the original as well. It's not fair to compare Bruce with Blaze any more than to compare him with Paul. I'm a Maiden fan, so I like all of it. When Blaze joined, it was the mid 90's, and Grunge was in and metal was out. Maiden were trying to fit in with the times. I was there during that period, so I know where peoples' heads were at. Everything was Nirvana this and Oasis that. To metal fans, it all sucked. But we were in the minority, and classic bands were still trying to please a new generation and sell records. But truth be told, I think "The X Factor" is a good album. It's in my top 10 favourite Iron Maiden albums. And I won't appologize for it.
Yes blaze has solo wize because he is a better singer now like Tim Owen's is but like Tim with priest blaze was the wrong voice for maiden and kept throwing out his voice touring trying to sing stuff Bruce sang originally like the trooper every night. And the truth is even if Bruce had not come back they were going to replace blaze anyway.

Now for those who still keep insisting blaze is better than Bruce you are wrong and for those who keep debating Bruce vs blaze except for 5 tracks on brave new world all were virtual 1 leftovers. Including the mercenary nomad, blood Brothers dream of mirrors. And the thin line between love and hate. The 5 new tracks from that album were Wickerman. Ghost of the navigator. Brave new world, fallen angel and out of the silent planet. The rest had been sung by blaze originally and were virtual x 1 leftovers. That had not been completed mainly because they did not sound right with blaze Bailey mainly because of his lack of chest voice but also his struggle to also get into the upper ranges. Like Bruce can. That's why on a lot of the brave new world songs Bruce kind of stuck to blazes range vocally but added a lot more chest voice. But added some midrange and highs in parts. Personally Bruce is the voice of maiden and there are a ton of songs on x factor and some on virtual x 1 where with Bruce they would have been classics along side the trooper. Such as blood on the world's hands fortunes of war. Educated fool. And don't dare say blaze sounds better singing the clanzman vs Bruce. Or blazes solo tuned down version of blood Brothers beats the version with Bruce. And one other thing If Bruce had not come back maiden would have still replaced blaze in 1999 because he had issues touring and was throwing out his voice due to the strain of singing songs Bruce sang originally.

Im not sure if Raphael Mendes has thought the implications of using Bruce name in an Maiden cover song over, for an artist to use an other famous artist name as clickbaite to get famous, more views, clicks, etc and especially if he earns money based on this like some UA-cam'rs do on their account can get you in legal trouble and he might sue if it gets his attention as you say he should do.
