@@shuntaro2408 aha. Good time for an Aussie to start watching - Webbers first win in 2009. Im gutted both he and Alonso will not be on the grid next year. Hope youre good :)
@@MrMiD.Life.Crisis Yeah for sure. Also 09 season was a weird one with brawn being so good and all that. I don' know what I'll do the day Kimi retires. Him, Webber and Button are my guys but they all have to stop at some point. Too bad for Alonso that he leaves after 4 years of being with a team that didn't work at all. People really have forgotten what an amazing driver he is. He's more thought of as a crybaby now. I'm pretty good, I hope you are well
Firstly in q3 you have race fuel, secondly mind out for ai dive bombs, thirdly it wasn't the kerbs spinning you, its the grass stay away from it, fourthly look out for oil slicks with the red and orange flag and finally corner cuts are time penalties so take it easy.
The car you overtook for 16th place was Tiago Monteiro, a Portuguese driver who drove for Jordan in 2005 and Mf1 in 2006, 3rd in Indianapolis 2005 and now a WTCC Honda driver
Ben I said in the previous episode to put one Traction Control preset to 0%, I meant that for only the formation lap, go back to 100% for the race, I didn't mean turn it completely off for the whole race, cars in 2006 are meant to have Traction Control, thats why you are having these weird spins out of Turn 2
Stuart Guy I havent played game for a while and it really questions me how do I get to change tyres in variable conditions Do they automatically give me wet or dry tyres after weather is changing or what ?
+Zbigniew Tomczynski quote from Wikipedia: "The yellow flag with vertical red stripes is displayed stationary at local flag stations to indicate that track conditions have changed due to substances on the track which could reduce grip or cause a car to lose control. Generally oil, coolant, small pieces of debris or sand are the hazards." I guess we were both right :p

Feels bad man, was doing a 100% race in Monaco split screen with my brother and he was leading, and he crashed in the swimming pool section, we literally had to take the controller off of him just so he didn’t throw the controller, I felt bad for him so I let him take my controller and finish the race in first, it was the least I could to help him calm down
Hey Ben! This was one of my first and most favourite game on PS2, and I literally put around 250 hours in it, so here are my few tips for You: Watch out for the AI cars all the time. They never leave you enough space, they hang you out to dry and even sometimes spin you out for no reason. You don't really have to take care about tyre wear, it doesn't matter how soft you turn, or manage it, they're almost undriveable on your pitstop-lap anyway. And pitstop: always come in as the engineer says, because if you stay out, you can't go in anymore. You can dive in on anyone, the braking system allows you to do that if you are used to it, just be brave. Turn on the stability control, because its literally impossible to go a full race without spinning while the stability control is off. Watch out for yellow-red striped flag sessions, because the oil-slicks are always on the racing line, and if you go over them, you instantly find yourself in the sand or in the wall. Keep up the good work mate, cheers! ;)
You know what I love about F1 2006 over all the Codemasters games? The fact that it is much more unforgiving... Kind of like how an F1 game should be if it's supposed to represent the sport to a fair degree.
It's not an inconsistency in Q3, it's just that the cars can be running on fumes in Q2, but in 2006 with in-race refueling, they qualified in Q3 with their fuel for the first stint of the race.
This has been my favorite f1 game ever, I had this on psp and console, modern game graphics are better but there is something about that career mode f1 2006 has, the emails, the contract, the news, the trial
+Jarred Gibson they should use this as evidence for the red bull canopy idea: 'as you can see in this simulation kindly made by a certain Ben Daly, the driver would die without our canopy...'
Ben, you were just being too aggressive on the kerbs and stay away from the grass on the exit.. The car's traction works best on setting '2' as I always find '1' being way too hot on the rear.
I have so many hours on this game. A wheel with force feedback can allow you to fight "autospin" on kerbs. Q3 times are set on race fuel too, hence slower times. This has to be my all-time favourite F1 game, which is impressive considering it's now 10 seasons ago! Only thing it was missing was saftey car.
Session 3 is slower because 2006 regulations state that Q3 needs to be run with race fuel. Meaning cars will be much heavier than they were in Q1 and Q2.
I was looking up this car on wiki and I found out that this car is the last of the V10s in F1. STR fitted a V10 which was limited to 17k rpm in 2006, even though V10s were banned. And you can see in this game that it is indeed limited to 17k rpm. That's fascinating!
Btw, there's no point heating up your tires if you're near the front. 13 is the lowest they go and no matter how warm you get them on the warm up lap they will always go back to 13 if you are in the Top 10
you'll learn this and feel great about it. I just won my first championship with ferrari after getting bought from torro rosso and now doing my second season with ferrari again. I will admit it's taken better part of 2 years on and off to one "git gud" and to want to win the championship in the first season. there's also some secrets you'll like if you haven't already seen them. won't spoil anything
this game has pretty big learning curve if you are only played Codemasters f1 games i remember when i played this game, 1st time when i finished the whole race was like 6th or 7th race of the season but when you learn how to drive in this game it's so fun but don't even think to cut over an apex in this game because you will spin if you cut corners
I have played this game for a while. And its true that it a bit tricky but it is so real, because you hace to be really careful whith the acepax and every corner with the throotle. However, I like this game and its in my opinion as good as the 2015
11:29 This happens to me as well...especially in dirt rally. When I'm at the middle of a turn, I accelerate and I end up down the hill...So frustrating! Nice vid!
This was my intro to F1 games on HD era consoles. The Codemasters games are so different to this in how you handle. Took me a while to get used to the Codemasters games. I'm sure the transition is similar in reverse too.
That spinout's pretty realistic. Once I was watching a practice rerun for some reason and I think it was Australia, and Rosberg dipped a single tire into the grass and spun out almost immediately.
the reason its slower in Q3 is in 2006 you had to use your startbof race fuel load in Q3 so cars didn't have all same weights due to different strategy
Q3 times are slower because of carrying race fuel, and you left your TC on setting 1, hence why you kept spinning! A tip from what I learned from back in the day is on 20%, fuel up to the maximum it will let you fill to in Q3/race, save a little fuel in the race, and you won't need to stop. But it can get dicey on the tyres! You've got good pace though, you'll crack it before long!
It is possible to change your settings in the middle of a career mode. Right after you enter the career menu, go in settings, instead of pressing start
That red and yellow flag that was under the lap counter means there's oil on that part of the track, you should pay attention to that because stepping over it will make you spin (what made you DNF in Australia was oil) Oh, I remember Imola, pain in the arse, the only time I got a good qualy there was because I came out of the pits first and it started raining right before the last chicane
That's actually not entirely right. You can't change the difficulty once you start the career mode, but you CAN change the race length. I've done it before on the PS2 version, so I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible on the PS3.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure the red and yellow striped flag means oil spillage. So when you see that flag just get off the throttle and it should prevent you from spinning
I think Q3 was done on race fuel back then that's why the difference in times.

Q3 times are slower because you have to start the race with that fuel load.
+joost van rossum q3 fuel also glitches to 100% racefuel
the sense of speed is all about the FOV. This game has a very wide FOV, that's why it feels so fast.
Obi-Wan Kannabis Not only the FOV, but also the graphic appearance as you gain speed. The game creators did a fine job with the use of a blur effect
What?????😂 it's the blur graphics. It's a well known fact that a tighter field of vision will limit visibility, increasing the sense of speed
It's not an inconsistency in Q3, it's just that the cars can be running on fumes in Q2, but in 2006 with in-race refueling, they qualified in Q3 with their fuel for the first stint of the race.
I think high tyre temperature by multiple spins did cost your traction to fall of the cliff.

In 2006 the cars were meant to use traction control during the race, also you spun out so much because your tires were worn.
And extremely hot, too.
in 2006, during Q3 you had also the fuel for the first part of the race

ben, in q3 you drive with race fuel (if the race length is scaled so does the fuel, that's why you had 28 laps of fuel and were much slower)
Even in a game 10 years old a British driver racing for the team based out of Brackley gets pole and wins.
Who's excited about the double 2006 Career today? :D
Session 3 is slower because 2006 regulations state that Q3 needs to be run with race fuel. Meaning cars will be much heavier than they were in Q1 and Q2.
not race fuel, stint 1 fuel
Arnaud Rucin Yes, that is what I meant.
The next race is in Imola actually. You have an ability test against Scott Speed there.

Ben, when there's a yellow and red flag on the top of the screen, it means oil on track.
Great vid honestly! It's much more realistic this way than like in F1 2014 finishing every race.
Pace difference is due to the 2006 fuel regs. those in q3 have to pick their starting fuel and that results in the slower lap times in q3

Q3 is done with race fuel levels that's why the SI is slower

This is from "qualify with race fuel" rule, so you have heavy fuel load in Q3

you spun because of the tyre wear
IndyCar Series 2005 has the best sense of speed in a game that I have played. Not to mention it's awesome.
loving the series keep it up ben :D
it is because in 2006 in Q3, they bring amount of fuel for the race . That is why they are slower in Q3 because the car was heavier .

It is possible to change your settings in the middle of a career mode. Right after you enter the career menu, go in settings, instead of pressing start

The Fuel for the Race was always used in Q3 in 2006.
back in 2006 in Q3 the run with the fuel of the race
that's why everyone is 1-2 seconds slower.
+Konstantinos Tsakalos was looking for this,
The rules in 2006 mean Q3 is with race fuel. Q1 & Q2 are done on quali fuel levels.
No more corner cuts lolol ;)
"Engineer does not look good." Lol that made me laugh haha. 😂
In Q2 you have little fuel onboard. But in Q3 you haven to have the fuel load you start the race on
12:21 The What Now? DRS? What on earth is that !?

there is a button to change the TC setting live. use it to put it back up to 3 after your burnouts.
Don't forget to turn the traction control back to 3 before the start, then you won't spin out in slow corner :)
you shouldn't use break when your car loses traction after stamp grass
It helps your car spins
Q3 will always be slower as you add the race fuel in that specific session.
Ben,you can't change the difficulty, but you CAN change race length if you go into the options menu
