  • In this episode of The Creative Process, conceptual artist Sei Yamazaki shows us Suibokuga, (水墨画 - a picture painted with water and ink) one of the most important branches of Japanese painting. Despite appearing quite simple, Suibokuga can take decades of patient practice to master.

    Sei Yamazaki is an award-winning multimedia artist whose work has been shown in exhibitions and installations across the world. Based in Tokyo, Japan, he is the founder and director of Seitaro Design, Inc., radio personality of FM Yokohama “Culture Department” and the Creative Advisor of Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Organization Committee.

    As a totally non-artistic white Southern American woman, I was so relaxed by the end of this short video, it took me a full two beats to realize that the video was over. So peaceful

    Simply beautiful. The jazz musician, Miles Davis, said something similar to the artist Hokusai. “You have to play a long time to play like yourself.”
    I believe all of them tuned in to something higher than themselves. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼

      水墨画是中国的传统画法 日本只是借鉴了中国水墨的做法 suiboku就是水shui墨mo的日本汉字叫法 本末倒置的世界哈哈哈
