Looks great! Could you have hole-sawed those radius's?

Yes and no. Our 3/8” drill just quit and the only drill leftover is our 1/2” hammer drill. We’re not about to drill horizontal big holes through 1/4” with that wrist breaker

There is someone nearby you that has multiple Land Rovers on his property. Most look to be the larger ones. I have seen about 3-4 from the road.

Have you checked the articulation for clearances yet? Looks close.

@@threecreeksbackcountry I knew the Mogs have a lot of frame flex. I just wondered if you had some kind of trick!

Dig that beast! Maybe leave the winch attached to help with the weight? Makes me wanna get stuck in your neck of the woods 😂

Thought about it but leaving the winch line attached would degrade the line real quick. That’s why we made this simple and strong 💪🏻

I would add a gusset coming straight off the back (bedside) going at a 45 degree angle (at least) into the floor of the bed using that same 4X8 tubing... most of your forces on this thing are probably gonna be straight back to front (ascending/descending) which could fatigue the steel where you have the least amount of support... the higher up the better... Also, I'm just an armchair engineer.

That’s why we installed an upper crossbar to additionally support the tire and prevent movement. It’s also why we measured it perfectly and the tire is actually pressed into the lower support and upper crossbar. A gusset going into the bed won’t work because of the seating arrangement. This is a tour vehicle with seating for 9 😁

How are you routing a winch cable to unload and load that beastly tire in the field?

I love the channel and specially the Unimog build, though 2 thoughts,
    a) did you align the rectangular piece to the three wheel studs, or to the winchline vertical - I believe aligning to the winching help positioning the wheel when lifted into place without the need to rotate the wheel it slightly to the studs
    b) really wondering how you intend to get on the bed ? It is very high, but now also access is blocked bij the spare.
    Best regards,
    Reynout, the Netherlands

We aligned it as best we could. I was able to mount it by myself easily. There is a side opening on the drivers side to get in and out with a ladder
