Love it! I'm the customer. I use it for errands around town, no stress on the frame, not worried about carbon. It's faster than Johnny rode it! I switched to 46t chainlink for more top speed, now it'll go 45 mph in 9th gear with 60 rpm cadence pedaling. I pass cars with impunity in the 25-mph zone! Store-bought ebikes around me are turds compared to my "Decati," as I call it. Johnny just finished what will be my offroad ebike, a hardtail 26 Trek with Shimano IGH.
Still love mine, thanks for all your help, weight 54lb with the 750w bafang min drive 52v jumbo shark, so far 379 miles in lees then a month with a top speed of 39.3mph ( while peddling my ass off ) lol 😎
4:16 that’s a sick build. Unfortunately I would say the chain stay where that torque arm is. He’s going to snap in half at some point but hey, that’s what the customer wanted. You’ll probably end up doing an internal hub at some point those really low spoke count wheels never stood up to a ton of torque. It’ll probably start snapping the hubs but man they were cool back in the day. Worked on a lot of those.
Most premium carbon fiber bikes have metal sleeved bottom brackets, so they should stand up to a stock BBSHD just fine. The stabilizer bar was a good idea, I use them on my 2500w 350nM double amp shunt modded BBSHD builds.
I have a "FLX-bic" trail ebike which the mid drive motor has gone bad turning my ebike into a boat anchor. Do you know where I could get a replacement motor for this bike. It was made in china in 2016. The bifang motor wont work there is know down tube.
Wow Johnny im super surprised you took on a carbon build. Id love to know how this works for your customer in the future. Doing the same in on my radar but I'm leary.
I built a BBSHD bike for someone else. Aluminum hybrid bike with 29 x 2 inch tires, 46t chainring, 11-34 cassette, and 21 amp hour Luna battery. I'm honestly disappointed. The top speed is about the same as the bike in the vid. With 1600w peak power I was expecting more. The average cyclists puts out about 250w continuous. 1600w is more than 6 times that but it sure doesn't feel like it to me. If my legs had 1600w I could win the Tour de France. I guess leg watts are different from motor watts.
Aerodynamics matter. Riding position. If you ride like Mary Poppins, its going to really slow you down. Its OK to not have over 35mph top speed on a bicycle. For $4K you can buy a Honda Grom or Trail 125 that will do 60 mph and has proper lighting and brakes and tire size for higher speed not to mention better frame integrity and 5 x's the power of a BBSHD ebike.
@@lukewalker1051 The power of the BBSHD is obviously grossly exaggerated. I'm a cyclist of 30 years and don't ride like Mary Poppins, and, have gone 60mph on descents. I am also a motorcycle rider.
You give the customer what he wants. His money would have been better spent on a Aluminium frame Mountain bike and install a Luna Ludricious controller to BBSHD motor, given he wants Souped Up, Ride Fast and Hard Rig. I can see using an ASI BAC 855 or Grin Frankenrunner controller but that's a lot of work and expense. That would be something to do for your 50K subscriber video, but it's too hard to do live.
Pretty presumptuous, deciding how my money would be better spent, knowing nothing about me. I've been a racer for 57 years, know myself pretty well, as well as a bit about the risk/reward of exotic parts--and how to choose a guru.
@@sammoses9536 Lookup Luna Cycles and try to get a $350 Ludacris controller, that would soup up your bike a lot. Having the Torque arm is perfect for your rig, you don't want to crush the bottom bracket with too much torque. I assume you got a USB programming cord and you can custom tune your existing controller. If you have Android phone, the Speeed app will work fine. Good luck and no crashes.

Very awesome! Nice
I hope you ride in full face motorcycle helmet

gorgeous classic hardtail

Those rims are the coolest thing I've seen 👍👍
Oooohhhh snap the house looks amazing 👍

"... and also I painted the house" hahaha you made me laugh out loud. Well done
Can you make a tutorial on how you program the BBS02 to handle a 52v battery without the 48v controller overheating?
How about evaluating the Luna X2?

howd you hide the wires
Hey Johnny, I would like to have video consultation with you, regarding converting my carbon fiber frame into an e-bike. Thanks 🙏🏻

I'm not sure what to congratulate you on first, the carbon bike build or the house painting... Painting is evil

Do as I say NOT as I do!!!
I have a new motor, it's the same power as the bbshd but it has torque sensing. Please contact me if interested
what u mean like a cyc x1 motor?
@@GaNgStAlBeRt No, You wont have heard of it, its new to market and running UART.
