I made one of these 3 years ago. It is an evaporative, or swamp cooler and yes they do work and put out nice cold air, my air from the unit tested at 67 degrees F) until the humidity in your room gets so high, no more air can evaporate. It stops cooling after that. In my bedroom, I could lower my air temp from 85 degrees F to about 80 before the humidity hit the 60% range and then no more cooling until the humidity dissipated, which took several hours at which time the temp was back up to about 85 again. If you live in a very low humidity area (Like the south west US) then these will work much better than mine did here in Kentucky. You did a nice job on this build and it looks great too.
The best place to position your air cooler is right in front of the window. Hotter the air, faster the evaporation and cooler the air blown out by the fan. It’s also important to create good ventilation in the room to push the humidity out. In order to do this, you need to open windows in the room. Take care not to open them too wide or it will only result in increasing the room’s temperature. You can experiment by adjusting the window a little to improve the amount of cooling.
@@doctorpetrovich9296 Unfortunately, here in Kentucky, it can be 100 degrees outside with very high humidity so opening a window only makes it worse inside.
Loved it. Not a big fan of swamp coolers, because I live in a humid climate, and had the commercial ones in bedrooms as kids in the 70's and 80's. But we knew how to rig one up outta anything living in the country. It's nice to see someone sharing info. Lord knows they don't teach survival or self sufficiency in schools nowdays. Ty.
Nice concept, very useful air cooler for one person sitting in a small shop or workshop or garage shack. The plastic body does not get rusted like the metal ones, no fuss in getting it cleaned for next season. To clarify some comments, this cooler can find many buyers in most parts of india where summer is harsh and who cannot afford other big size air cooler let alone an AC. Actually one can easily tweak the circuit with 3-core wire and can connect the ground wire to the metal bracket of the fan and u have a shock proof body (plastic body is already shock proof). The fan regulator and switch can be fixed on the front side instead of on the side, it is more safe. Of course, please keep away from small kids. Good for science demo project for middle school students.

Portable swamp cooler. Cool to watch you build this. Most have zero idea on where to purchase these tems however. Perhaps you could provide links to items needed for sale online or hints to what store one could purchase these items?
Nice try ...👍.... But its not safe.... 220v and all the electrical connections will get short for being so exposed to humidity ... and the screws will rust since they are not painted or have any coating... better use plastiz zip ties instead and above its too noisy.... u can get far better throw if u use the blower blades and DC 12 v they are much quiter... but still thumbs up for being creative and effort... thank you.
@Jason Adams Open your mind and stop being so ignorant. You can learn a lot from others Mister Knowitall, especially if they are from an area of our World that doesn't have easy access to things we take for granted. Shallow mind!!!!
Most commercial evaporate coolers are made in a VERY similar way. Keep in mind that they only work in dry environments. I live in a high desert environment and evaporate coolers, also called swamp coolers, are very common, but even in this environment there are days when they just don’t work due to the relative humidity.
Super bro with 650/- I purchased Tata Voltas cooler last year with 13000 but it worked for one year. Really it's waste of money for purchasing coolers. Your idea is good
2.5 cooler motor 490 Rs Water pump 130 Rs Metal blade 80 Rs Metal net 30 Rs Honeycomb pad 120 Rs Switch 50 Rs Cable 50 Rs Total budget 950 Rs Ok nice idea but switch is not safe
Mohammed Akber , was about to tell, more over the fan motor and other iron fittings gets rusted due to wet conditions better to use plastic brackets and why use the can one can build a regular shaped box out of clear sheet one can see the water flow also.
Good job..if someone os making this use a hamper or waste basket as you could put fan and rear pad holes higher alowing more water and not have to refill as often
No protection switch and regulator because water circulation time water dripping switch, regulator and also filter back side water dripping in earth, over all is OK well done take
Well, this is dangerous. He could get away with putting and air conditioner motor in there as it is meant for damp environments IF he grounded/earthed the metal shell of the motor, but then he put completely unprotected switches in there too. I bet those will be nicely corroded really quick. It really should have leak current protection as well. Even with all that, I'd only use it outside. It wouldn't take much to dump water everywhere. He's using 230v too...
More clickbait. This NOT AN AC UNIT. This is a swamp cooler. I live in Mississippi and ha ha no way that thing works here. I also find it to be unsafe as you spend zero time moisture proofing your electrical system, or even the fan motor. You are thinking outside the box (Granted) But this just a clever design not a AC unit.
@@AshishSharma-mf2bx poor people must know how to get cool air from outside. House ventilation is very important. Can give free cooler air compare buyin this things
Hi..this is a cooler..it's not meant for humid areas..if u use a cooler u have to ventilate your house properly..since it uses water to cool the surface unlike ac

this cooler should be kept outside the room, I mean to say install it in a window, then it will work better.

Nopes, cooler grass and honeycomb pads are two different things. Both are used by manufacturers.
One thing the video doesn't teach is that water and electricity don't mix well and that the contraption is a huge safety risk.
