im in middle school and my mom is letting me practice in my brother’s highschool band and i don’t know half of the notes on the sheet 💀 don’t really wanna be in the band yet, but their band director wants me to be there and practice as much as i can, he also needs more flutes in his band so-
I'm currently in a concert band after having been absent from flute playing for some 60 years. Your outstanding video is incredibly helpful! Thank you for your love of teaching others. Wow, so appreciative 😊
I haven’t picked up a flute in nearly 16 years. This video is a godsend. Thank you! I definitely have some work to do along with regaining familiarity with my new flute because producing anything above the F# just wasn’t happening, haha!
Thank you so much for this! I am a blind flute player who has been playing for 25 years now so know most of these fingerings but there are a few I don't use often so forget them and there were some new ones too. AS someone who cannot make use of the typical image fingering charts this is a life saver. Thank you for being so incredibly inclusive and accessible. ❤
Thank you so much!! This is the only place on the internet that I have found fingerings going all the way up to 4th octave E! I’ve been having to bring down some 4th octave notes in the contemporary music I’ve been playing recently, this is a game changer lol
Wow, I´ve heard that urban legend that you can hit some notes beyond fourth C, but never seen it. Some worked on my cheap flute, some not. Maybe on the better ones it work. I reccomend using some ear protection on your right ear when trying that stunt. Thank you! 😀
Omg you are a life saver I went from beginner straight to symphonic band and I am having trouble catching up with my notes since I didn’t have the chance to learn concert band
So, I’ve played clarinet and sax most of my life, then asked my cousin for her flute she wasn’t using a few years ago. After figuring out where to put my fingers and the different b flat thumb deeply-bob, I was feeling accomplished enough to get decent tone this past year. I just assumed the fingerings were the same as sax (except for b flat) and that I just give it faster airspeed for higher octaves. Boy am I wrong! I just found out tonight about putting my right pinky on e flat key most of the time (which at least answered why I would lose stability between octaves). I wish I had started with your vids! Honestly I’m bowled over about how difficult all the split fingerings are, but I am definitely enjoying flute, so I guess it’s worth it hey? Thank you for this enlightening video, I’m gonna need it! 😅
i’ve learned that F# is not only easier and more comfortable to play with my middle finger instead of my ring, but it also plays more in tune for my flute
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! For such a long time i had been looking for a video exactly like this, where finger positioning and the musical notation are all included and shown very clearly and simply. So thank you again!
I am a 57 year old man who wants to relearn flute. In eighth grade I started music with the trumpet but didn’t like it so I traded my trumpet for a flute and taught myself the basics over the summer. All four years of high school I worked very hard and went from last chair second flute my freshman year to second chair first flute my senior year. I was somewhere between intermediate and advanced. Now after all these years I was gifted a flute and I want to relearn but have no idea where to start especially since I have no band to play with.
Thousands Thank. You shared deep understanding of all 36 notes..No one in this world shared like the way you did . I must say thank from the bottom of my heart 💜💓. perhaps i have an opportunity to learn from you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! You truly don't understand that this helped me alot. I started playing the flute around the end of 2021 till now. Honestly its fun but its tiring too. The part i hate the most is learning the breathing technique and memorizing the notes. I can kinda read notes but since when i switched to flute from a piano took a few months break i forgot how to sight read. Well thankfully i can do it better now. I'm practicing a song and honestly i dont memorize the high notes at all. This video helped me alot seriously!! Please keep up what u r doing rn its great!!
Charan Sparsh madam Jee Best teachers as flautist . I had an opportunity to learn from her , her teaching of flute is marvellous. The beginners and advance player can learn many more having class with her which is not found in book.
you are probably not gonna see this but can you please do more of these types of videos I just started playing the flute and I have a lot to catch up on and it would mean a lot if u made a video on how to play all of them for beginners and how to get the right sound because mine sounds a lot airy and im trying to get it more perfect pls make one it would help out a lot
I'm playing on a super beginner flute, it doesn't seem to hit the low notes in the same tone... am I doing something wrong or is it because I do not have the B foot joint ? The note plays clear, but it doesn't sound as deep.
Hey..you posted this a year ago and I have the exact same issue Did you get to know what the issue was and how to improve Oh and how is your playing rn😃
Thank you much Lauren!!! I'm a adult male that is starting flute.. I'm kinda self-conscious about playing so I'm "self taught".. had a few lessons but bad at reading sheet music, this helps so much!! Could you make some videos for "self taught flutists" thanks again
I seem to be able to get third octave notes which don't involve the thumb placement, but with the thumb in place I struggle. For example, I can not get D3, whatever I do.
ty i’m 14 9th grade just got my flute yesterday and i’m doing good i can make sounds i can read no tree s but idk the notes on the flute what each button is and i’m joint band next semester so i got two months!!!
Thank you, your videos are so great. My daughter has a concert coming up and she is very anxious because she is just expected to know the music, do you have or know where I can find sheet music with fingers for Create Feature, Hobbit Dance and Thunderstruck (not the ACDC one!)?
Finally a good (and very well done!) video on fingerings!!!! Thank you very much! Thank you for the ones making less high C#3... and the Bb3 fingering, very good! I usually add the Bfoot gizmo key for the C4 Your D4 is great! Merci beaucoup, vraiment pratique, et on trouve facilement avec le curseur: ça c'est une excellente idée.
hi! any advice on how to get a clear sound on the second register? often times my notes in the second register has some "bleeding" where you can hear the pitch from the same note the octave below :(
Hello, why are some fingering thesame, but the notes that resonate are different. Pls I need some help, I am all confused here. e.g F1 and F#1 notes have thesame fingerings as their various octaves F2 and F#2? I do not get it.
Quick question! Is the fingering the same for both octaves of E going up? I'm getting the lower octave sound everytime and I noticed that the fngering is the same, yet Lauren played a higher octave!! Please help =[
i bought keyflute from ebay for 130 AUD couple of years ago and struggles alot with it .. i moved to indian bamboo flute and after geting comfortable with it .. i picked up keyflute again and found that i can play the c a b but not g f e d c ... is it the flute cuz i can play higher or lower notes on bamboo flute .. can someone please guide me
Yes! I would angle the air lower for the low note and use a wider aperture, and for the 2nd octave I would pucker my lips forward and angle the air more across the flute (slightly higher angle of air) and use a more round and forward aperture. I have other videos talking about how the embouchure changes to stabilize the sound in different registers ^_^

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am starting over after a 15 year break. I feel like a beginner again, day 1 of band.😊
This is one of the most helpful, informative, and simple flute tutorial on this tube.
I'm an oboist/saxophonist, just got a flute, so this is gold dust. Thank you!

This is very helpful... Thanks for nicely educating me.
Very good method
Thank you 🙏🙏
You are amazing! Tank you so mach🤗
LITERALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I'm playing on a super beginner flute, it doesn't seem to hit the low notes in the same tone... am I doing something wrong or is it because I do not have the B foot joint ? The note plays clear, but it doesn't sound as deep.
Hey..you posted this a year ago and I have the exact same issue
Did you get to know what the issue was and how to improve
Oh and how is your playing rn😃
Omg way more then I needed😂😂❤❤❤❤
Thx I really needed this because I left band and then decided I still wanted to play flute
Great video! Thanks
Thank you much Lauren!!! I'm a adult male that is starting flute.. I'm kinda self-conscious about playing so I'm "self taught".. had a few lessons but bad at reading sheet music, this helps so much!! Could you make some videos for "self taught flutists" thanks again

Why not useful?
I seem to be able to get third octave notes which don't involve the thumb placement, but with the thumb in place I struggle. For example, I can not get D3, whatever I do.
Very beautiful ,Do you have an instructional video about how to exert the abdominal muscles when playing high pitch? Thank you
I watched several videos, but I understood nothing. Your method of teaching is fantastic!
ty i’m 14 9th grade just got my flute yesterday and i’m doing good i can make sounds i can read no tree s but idk the notes on the flute what each button is and i’m joint band next semester so i got two months!!!
What if I don't have a second roller key for B? My flute only has one.
my favorite
Thank you, your videos are so great. My daughter has a concert coming up and she is very anxious because she is just expected to know the music, do you have or know where I can find sheet music with fingers for Create Feature, Hobbit Dance and Thunderstruck (not the ACDC one!)?
Hi, great video but what is the second pad used for on your left finger?…
you look like Kaitlan Collins ....... thanks for the video - its helping me learn the notes !
Hi there! Great video. Any idea as to why my E2 sounds so low in comparison to yours?
Please do Cardiff by the sea
I have 1 new yamaha YFL-471H 17 HOLE but i dont know how to used the proper note
She taught us how to play the notes from lowest to highest.
I just found my mother's old flute and I can get sound out but I am not used to flute I play trumpet and it is a bit hard
Im currently in symphonic band but there’s times I forget how the notes are called and u wanna review over thank u
Thank You madam. Very very Nice 👍👍👌👌👌
Let me ask you if the flute 17 hole are the same fingering note?
I have an advanced flute with the holes in the buttons but it doesn't have the third button for the low B
Finally a good (and very well done!) video on fingerings!!!! Thank you very much!
Thank you for the ones making less high C#3... and the Bb3 fingering, very good!
I usually add the Bfoot gizmo key for the C4
Your D4 is great!
Merci beaucoup, vraiment pratique, et on trouve facilement avec le curseur: ça c'est une excellente idée.
I need help to play the fulte
Mam my name is roshan your one of the best teacher will this help me to lear other big songs?

Suddenly I started thinking about explosions.
I,m trying to learn theflute for my concert tthursday
Quick question! Is the fingering the same for both octaves of E going up?
I'm getting the lower octave sound everytime and I noticed that the fngering is the same, yet Lauren played a higher octave!!
Please help =[
I can play a Fourth octave E with easy fingerings, but it's sharp. I can play it in tune, but the fingering in very complicated.
START AT 6.00
i bought keyflute from ebay for 130 AUD couple of years ago and struggles alot with it .. i moved to indian bamboo flute and after geting comfortable with it .. i picked up keyflute again and found that i can play the c a b but not g f e d c ... is it the flute cuz i can play higher or lower notes on bamboo flute .. can someone please guide me
Thx this is really useful
I have ben playing the flute for 5 years but I still cant go higher that the 3rd F! Whenever I try to play that 3rd G, only a fart sound comes out!
Try not to tighten your lips too much when blowing the Flute, try to generate the force from your diaphragm instead of your mouth.
why is the E in the 1st and second octave the same do i have to change my lip position??
The best explanation i found, thank you!!!!!!!!!
🙌✨
I never enjoyed a flute lesson so much...😂
