    It was interesting to see how it's done. Can tell you've done that a time or two. Thanks for showing us.

    I fished off Matinicus for many years and setting a tub trawl was one of my favorite things to do. By the way buy yourself a new pair of Grundens without holes in them and get yourself some stainless hauler plates!! Thanks for the vid!

    Relaxing ride from this end. That's one lonely fish...
    The new intro I've been seeing is very nice, I like it.

    You can use heavy mono with clips that you put on with these special plies, but i find that i catch more off my hand tied stuff that i make out of heavy gangion twine....Probably something braided and heavier than a 550 heading twine.

    @kookiemoose .....When I have been drinking all night the last thing I want to do is lay on the couch and suffer....I go out on the ocean and breathe that fresh salt air, I am fine in no time !

    Have you always had your gangions wrap around your mainline? I tried setting a few trawls with some 5/16 sink so I can run through my hauler and just about every damn one comes up wound right up tight around that damn mainline. See yours were too and just wondered if it is just the way it goes or if I set into the tide wrong? I used 3' of some dacron braid and clips.

      Did you ever figure out how to keep them from getting wound up?

  • @CaptJohnsBar
    @CaptJohnsBar  10 років тому

    I think its just that way during the hauling of the trawl....Rope twists while in the hauler....Doubt it lays on bottom like that after setting.

      Do they ever come up not twisted up? I seen a video of a guy out west doin the same thing and they weren't wrapped up and I'm wondering what was different

    @mannexx111 .....I think around 5 or 6 bucks a pound to the fishermen, not sure though cause I don't sell them.....I would rather fill my freezer for winter.

  • @CaptJohnsBar

    @RamblinAround ....Spent my whole life on the ocean.....Did a video similar to the one you did of what you looked like back in the day...The wife found an old photo album and I thought it might be interesting ,(with all the hair shaving goin on), to show what i looked like with long hair and 80 lbs. lighter....
