Three years ago when I first started shopping for a UTV the 590i was the very first one I sat in and drove. I loved it honestly and still do. But it was a little more than I wanted to spend. After a Kymco UXV 450 (which was solid and a great machine) and now my pioneer 500. I still wish I had gotten a xuv 590i to start with. I just really really like. I do love my pioneer 500 too though.

At minute 2:10 you said your Gator's legs were short. I found that to be true on my new 590 until I shifted it out of low then whoa baby. It rocks. Besides its a 'utility vehicle' not a race machine. I have no need for high gear around my place. Slow is better.

what do you mean more expensive than the competition? I got a better deal on my 590i than what polaris was offering. I've put on 500 miles in 4 months time with no issues. You say it has short legs I can do 50mph no problem!

Tim Wallin I have never tried the 590i, but we had the 625i and now have the 825i and they take a long time to reach top speed (limit at 50kph and 70kph respectively). The last 10-20kph before rev limiter are really long to go throught (compared to ranger and defender), and it seems to be more of a cvt problem than a lack of power. But we do not really mind about it because the main purpose of their cvt is to last, not to perform.

We have a 590i too if you get it in a wide open field or off the road it tops around 25 to 35

I think someone said the engine comes from the land of the Panda designed to last 2000 hours, but who knows.

High quality? BS! Just got two of these at work for use on the 5,000 acre property and they suck! With only 2hrs one went back to the dealer because it was throwing the belt, it came back then went back to the dealer due to not being able to shift into high gear from neutral. Both have enclosed cabs that leak like a screen door on a submarine and when it comes to moderate hills the cvt just cannot keep up and the belt begins slipping. Not to mention the engines are carbeurated, gravity fed and do not start worth a damn in the cold weather here in the PNW.
We have a 2011 625i that for the most part has been flawless. With plenty of power, EFI, larger bed, windshield wiper and bucket seats, just looking at the difference JD really has dropped the ball with the 590i.

Hunter Tomlin the 590i is fuel injected as the i indicates you’re probably taking about a different model

I live in the mountains and my 590i just free rolls down hills. No engine barking after letting off the gas. No thanks!

Derrick Kimsey I have never tried the 590i, but we had the 625i and now have the 825i on our farm and they are really good at working hard. They are actually the only SxS who survive in our conditions, especially cold runs and heavy load on the bed. There is no way a defender or a ranger could survive what a gator can do (we own both of them in the family). They actually seems like hybride next to gators since they are much faster and handle better. So if you mainly ride your SxS instead of work with it, then yeah they are not really good. Gator are heavy, slow and rough, even the full size 825i. But they last a lot longer when put to work.

I believe you are mistaken for the JD xuv 550. They have a Briggs and Stratton v-twin engine that has issues in those machines.
