You got the part on the secret to JM's clean sound spot on (it was about time someone did ...). There is always a Katana + another overdrive (TS, BD-2, BB1 or klone) with very little gain on. It is always a pushed sound. However, the part on the guitar volume control is not accurate: I have seen JM 12 times during the years, and very up-close - he does NOT play with the volume pot of the guitar almost at all. The guitar volume control is slightly rolled - off but not to 6-7 (it is way too much). The guitar tone controls are rolled off to 5-6 (and JM said that in an interview with the Guitarist Magazine), but the guitar volume knob is about 9/8. Anyway, it was a great video, thank you.
I've realised that because of not subscribing to this channel I missed this video for nine months I fixed my mistake. Thank you for this video. You really rock!
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses you should also try to lower the height of your pickups, nearly as flat as the pickguard. This creates the best clear "strat sound" as it removes most of the magnetics interferences with the strings.
From what ive seen. Play on a clean channel using the neck pickup the bass probably somewhere around 6/10 and lead about 4/10 and a little bit of reverb
Excellent ! I really appreciate that you show not only how to play, but also how to get the sound and which gear to use. Very good solo at the end, but how do you get this rich tone, only turn the volume to 10 ?
Thank you so very much for the kind words :)! The solo sound is the same setup as explained in the video but : Guitar volume on 10, going into neck pickup position, and with the Vertex Ultraphonix pedal turned on at the end of the signal chain :) // Guillaume
Thanks Javier !! :) The Ultraphonix is based on a Dumble Amp overdrive and in this video I used it last in the chain, after clean boost and TS. // Guillaume
John Mayer? please,, how about Nick Johnston, Tom Quale, Guthrie Govan, some challenging lessons, thanks anyway,, BTW, how about Thomann making a good replica of Nick Johnston's Schecter?
You comment that, and your shorts are a heavily reverb saturated poorly timed improv piece over “gonna find another you”. The fucking audacity for you to comment that hahahaha

Man thank you so much! And yeah don't miss out, there's a lot more coming :) // G
Oh that "pushed" clean signal, with volume rolled down are just magic
It's such a great sound, still clean but so much richer ! :) // Guillaume
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses speaking of pushed cleans, what about some BB King? Like Sweet little angel?

That end-jam sound so amazing. Great tone and feel! All thumbs up Guillaume!
Awesome, this is a great guitar sound and you've nailed it down very well
Thank you so much Wess! // Guillaume
Thanks for the fantastic work.
Deep Purple - Highway Star would be cool.
Thank you very much Richard! Highway Star is on the list ;) // Guillaume
I like the retro Radio Salon from the '50 '60. It looks very good. Also the oil lamp on it. Beautiful setting.
could never find the right tone for this song until now! thank you so much!
Amp settings would def be helpful as thats a crucial part of the tone
From what ive seen. Play on a clean channel using the neck pickup the bass probably somewhere around 6/10 and lead about 4/10 and a little bit of reverb
And my amp is cheap so thats the only settings i have
any fender/dumble style. Scooped mids.

Explanation was excellent feel is hard to describe but you did great 🤘🏽
Excellent job of explaining everything well.
Keep it up big dawg. I think something with delay or some kind of mod would be cool next. Where The Streets Have No Name by U2?
Thanks for the lesson!

Thanks for the song 😊👍
MAGIC! What's the order of the pedals? the Ultraphonix has a circuit like a BD 2 or which would it be?
Thanks Javier !! :) The Ultraphonix is based on a Dumble Amp overdrive and in this video I used it last in the chain, after clean boost and TS. // Guillaume
excelente videos, gracias!!!
love the GRUNDIG!
Next one: Queens of the Stone Age - No one knows !
Without you from Fleetwood mac of Peter Green would be cool!!!!
Love the vid!

Merci Jean Bernard ! :) Yes I'll do my best to make this happen soon. It's such a great pedal. // Guillaume

the tab you provided is not the same as what you played
What scale did he use in that intro?
Hi :) I believe that´s G Major pentatonic! // Guillaume
Couldn't find the tab :(
its not there
Use your ear
The amp is the most everything, to me ure not even close, but i see when people using two rock trad is so closee
Sorry, doesn't sound the same on Acoustic 😄
What is important is to learn the technique!
John Mayer? please,, how about Nick Johnston, Tom Quale, Guthrie Govan, some challenging lessons, thanks anyway,, BTW, how about Thomann making a good replica of Nick Johnston's Schecter?
Watzline no one gives a fuck
I was naive enough to think this was actually a John‘s vídeo! You bastard…that Initial picture its cheap Marketing 👎🏻
Talkative
This didn’t help
Not enough emotion in the singular notes
