I'm so glad that there are challenge bricks now
Ouch! I would have lost my mind. Love me some OSU and Hendricks but...that was suspect.
Wouldn’t have changed the outcome. Churella got screwed hard.
I agree.. but Remember they are far closer to the action.. so from the angles we see on TV it looks as though it was not a takedown 😊
I’m a Johnny fanboy but I think he flat out got pinned and I was laughing so hard when the refs did not call the pin 📌.
johnny? ya mean JOHNY
“Johnny” Oh yea you’re some fanboy…lol
We’re the ones laughing at you….lol
Some very questionable reffing here. On several occasions.
Churella had a pin.
holy shit, someone should've been fired, i live in oklahoma and my dad was a high school coach here, i think ive heard of this match.
@@edgewoodwrestling1643 it should’ve been 10-9 Churella
Hendricks was pinned!
wow! highway robbery! not only on the no-pin call, but only 2 instead of 3 near fall, and then the totally bogus takedown call that tied the score at 7. just awful! I guess that's why the challenge brick was instituted.
Lol I love Johnny but I think Ryan got robbed 😂
@@Nik_Airball bro he did. Should’ve been 10-9 or shoulda had no 3rd period
Hendricks celebrating a lot considering he was flat out pinned w/ the cradle lol
9:15 that was no two and those refs knew it. Thank God for video replay.
Just horrible calls across the board in this match.
If you think that was a bad call, just watch the match between Pat Smith and Tom Ryan
@@AbassabdI went to a camp in May that Tom Ryan and some of his wrestlers were at and he mentioned that match.
Really bad calls against Churella.
That young man won this match.
So in this match, Hendricks was pinned at 4:58 of the match, Churella should have gotten 3 instead of 2 back points, no takedown in the 3rd period for Hendricks at :40 seconds left. Kessel should have never been allowed to ref NCAAs again
Im absolutely in awe just shocked at what the fuck I just watched.
These refs should’ve been smacked
Thank you for posting these!
It's our pleasure! So happy you enjoyed it!
6:45 Jony Hendricks was pinned
I’m admittedly new to wrestling but that looked very much like a pin.
You might be new but you are 100% correct.
Wrestling has gotten so much better overall
Hands down the two best college announcers
We love Jim too, but these two just have something a bit more that makes it so special for our family to watch
Bro was pinned and was given 4 points
I saw this back in 06. His second to last takedown, I dunno man. He is very lucky time ran out and it wasn't called a pin. Took balls to cut him with 29 seconds left. Great performer. He lost at the end the next time around against Mark Perry. Another exciting match. I've seen all his UFC fights, seems like a good dude.
Lol he was pinned for almost five seconds, there was no luck to it. The refs weren't calling it.
@@e2go He was lucky that the refs didn't call it and that they gave 2 instead of 3
Imagine being the best individual wrestle in the nation. That feeling has to be amazing.
I'm sure it is but it wasn't the guy that got his hand raised here😂
Yikes....Oh how did the ref’s miss that
It was pin.
Churella is the 2006 Champion in reality, just not on paper. He pinned Hendricks. End of story.
Hope Ryan knows he was the better wrestler that day at heart and should of won🙏
I think Hendricks was by far the better wrestler that day !!!Churella only out wrestled him for 15 seconds in the match ...But in that 15 seconds HE PINNED Hendricks ..Ref should of slapped mat , .. Hate when the refs do that fake bobbing their heads, looking here and there ..The guy flat ..call the pin
Hendricks got to Churellas legs almost 10 times in a single match. That's really bad if you're Churella and are leading by 4 points in the final period. Even if some of the takedowns were questionable how can he let someone get to his legs so often when you're leading. Also failed to get to Hendricks legs more than once..
No, it sounds like it's pretty awesome that he was leading despite Hendricks getting to his legs so often. He clearly pinned the guy and if he didn't pin him he was screwed out of a back point. Churella did plenty to win this match.
6:20 Churella cradle
Funny Hendricks is awarded 2 around the ankle on the edge yet Jordan Oliver wasn’t. How can you even consider awarding a takedown while the opponents are facing each other??? Terrible officiating!!
The ref wasn’t looking with the JO situation. The JO thing is why they added on the mat replays and challange bricks. They shoulda add it after this shitty officiating
In fairness to Hendricks, Churella would have been hit with multiple stalling calls for fleeing the mat under attack. I'm so glad that's a rule nowadays.... i hated the era when guys would hug the edge and run out of bounds ten times a match.
At 9:29 that is not a take down. Man I would’ve been hot
Me too. And somehow they hit the guy for stalling while Hendricks was just pushing him and Churella was in mid-shot🤣🤣 Officials were absolutely horrible here.
With replay like they have today - the record books would have been re-written
Johnny Hendricks is best
The ref is Gary Kessel from NJ. He was. NJ State Champion in the late 70's. He was a bouncer at a bar I would go to in the early 80's. He was not to be fucked with.
He blew a few calls on this match. I'm pretty sure he retired after this.
hendricks was pinned, they gave churella an out of bounds call when hendricks was about to escape its all really sketchy
when is the ncaa going to put up Gregor Gillespie vs. Josh Churella from '07? That match has never been available.
Found it. Grabbing that now. Will try to have it up this weekend. Thanks for the request.

NCAA Championships wow you guys take requests?
@@NCAAChampionships THANK YOU SO MUCH! Been trying to watch this match for years.
What about both of JAGGERS finals matches.?
Man this was a great match, the pin call was close but Johnny did still have a hold of his upper leg and when the ref got down was when he first went flat with about a second left, ovr really good match
JOHNY. get it right!
@@gregy1570 he says “Johnny” because that’s usually how it’s spelt. I didn’t even know till looking at his name it’s spelt Johny. I was reading im like wat. I’m like omg it is johny.
The pin call was not close😂 He was flat as hell😂
Is this Johnny from UFC?
Yes
JOHNY. his name's JOHNY. not johnny. any normal person can be johnny. that he' johny means he's %$%!^#$% special, or something
@@gregy1570 This is JOHNY gassed the hell up before USADA came in and took all his power away🤣
@@e2go huh? usada? took his power away? no idea what you're talking about
Suspect win to this day but you can’t deny Johnny fought to the end
Robbery
Great match. The pin could've just been that camara angle but that 1 takedown wasn't even close. Why didn't the other ref say anything?
LMFAO the "camera angle"? The camera showed the exact perfect angle to determine a pin🤣🤣
@@e2go you really couldn't see Hendrick's left shoulder. The other ref shouldve called it a pin. I think Hendricks lost this match and it was a robbery.
I love it I honestly think it was 50/50 if he was pinned the key factor was time, 1 more second he was stuck but the bell saved him. gotta give hendricks credit he fought back valiently and was the more aggressive wrestler. I love the cheers and boos, makes wrestling exciting. Boom
“He doesn’t have the greatest shot”
As Hendricks gets in on Churella several times
hendricks was as stuck as stuck can be lmao.
Can't win if you can't stop takedown, Hendricks was clearly the better wrestler he got takedown after takedown he cut churella with 29 seconds left because he knew he was going to get easy takedown and he did
What? 😂Sure you can if you pin a dude flatter than hell. That's ten times better. Absolute robbery
@@e2go I didn't see a fall, the refs didn't either
Johnny was pinned. 3 near fall minimum
As someone who is pretty new to wrestling this looks like a pin but as a buckeye fan I can’t say I feel bad. Pretty sure Michigan fans would same the same if this was a buckeye
Clearly cradled and pinned.
Hendricks clearly dominated the match and yes very questionable takedown call but even though to me Hendricks was the better wrestler, his ass did get stuck. I hope they took that referees license away lol
But he got PINNED!
@@xenonmaster6668 I did say his ass got stuck. Total agreement
He didn't clearly "dominate" anything 😂 He somewhat dominated one position and got multiple questionable calls to go his way including a lost back point for Churella that made all the difference in the world. Not to mention two borderline at best takedowns at the end🤣
definitely should have reviewed at least one of those take downs in the 3rd period
Calls were very questionable, that was out of the wrestlers hands, but Johnny kept wrestling!
Wow, what a warrior! Gets pinned flatter than a board and it doesn't get called, what the hell else is he going to do?😂
If they ever needed challenges and reviews it was this match. Hendricks first two was two when he had both legs and they hit out of bounds. Ryan did a great job of scrambling right out but in my opinion he had enough to give him a quick two when they hit the ref waited which made it look suspect. Ryan def had three backs u can see the clock hit five seconds after he rolled through the cradle and the two in the third out of bounds was very very questionable! That last two with three seconds left was a definite takedown. This was Churrellas match to win after the cradle. Hendricks went Iowa style third period and just kept hitting snag singles and working to finish at the edge, he was relentless and went after it and even cut him to go for the win. He’s not the ref u have to respect the drive and it’s easy to say Ryan got robbed but he has to defend and not put himself in those compromising situations. Easier said than done with a beast like Johnny but I felt like that last takedown iced it, you have to fight for your life there regardless of officiating!
He did get robbed, he pinned Johnny Hendricks
9:15 Takedown? If you say so. You're the ref. But really? Not.
Looked clearly stuck to me
Churella decked him and even after he should have won by 3.
Pins a pin, wasn’t called. NF and 2 questionable takedowns mattered! All went against Churella. If any one goes for Ryan he wins pretty easily. But props Johnny was attacking all the way.
18 years ago and this is some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.
Worst officiated match of all time. Hendricks was pinned, plain and simple.
5:01
Had 3 nearfall been awarded instead of 2 and the penultimate takedown not been awarded, the score would have been, and all other scoring remained unchanged, the score would have been 8-7 Churella. Some very questionable calls, in addition to the pin not being called for Churella, which influenced the outcome of the match heavily.
6:21
How he not get at least 3 swipes
This ref is terrible
woah
2:52
I mean it should of been a pin
Having said that he just ran out of gas
And he could not sprawl
Yea having watched this again thought he was flat for the second needed and should have lost. He could of lost on points as well because Ryan should of gotten 3 near fall and there’s no way that was a takedown. No way!
Shouldve been 3 nf
Present day Johny Hendricks ate this one.
Does he feel he don’t deserve it?
This was pre-USADA gassed the hell up Hendricks.
wow.... I like Johnny... but what a screw job... He was pinned... and that second to last takedown wasn't a legit takedown
big robbery for churella
why didn’t he get the pin??? It was 6 seconds shouldn’t he have at least gotten 3?
