A professional way to change the filter is to fill with fuel all the way up the canister in wich the filter sits in, put the lid back on and prime the high pressure fuel pump with fuel. The reason why is that, if you run your high pressure fuel pump empty without having fuel in it even for a second, you can cause permanent damage to the pump. And a new one aftermarket is around 800-900 GBP.
Mate your videos are so good, keep them up! Did my first ever oil change, flush, drain and oil filter change yesterday. Doing a fuel filter change today and an air filter change soon when my K&N one arrives!
Thanks mate, much appreciated!
DIY is the way, I recommend in between DIY services to get an official service at least once every 2 years for service book history and to put next owners mind at peace tha it has had a once over by a professional too!
Good shout mate, cheers.
thanks man, i couldn't stop laughing when I saw the entertaining for dropping the screw, keep up with the videos
Hi Daniel,

@@TimWilliamsHD bro need ur expertise i have a 2016 a3 2L TDI (20k km) and by accident i put in the tank 15CL of water who was half empty ! what do u think i should do ?
im so scared to ruin the whole thing by driving it ! can i purge under this fuel filter ?
but the water has to be on the bottom of the tank right ? do u think my car is dead ?
thanks if u have any help :)
Looking for spare parts - some filters have water sensor. do we need that?
Is this a filter with a watersensor or without? And does this matter allot?
Thanks for the video. just got a 2005 Audi A3 TDI and it makes a noise when starting up and judders on idle and was told to change the fuel and air filter as that's most likely the issue. So ill give this a go myself
CHheers mate! Hope it fixes the problem.
TW Randomz Unfortunately I never got chance to try because the bonnet would not open so ended up taking car back and got a refund. Got a 2012 A3 Special Black Edition now instead. No rattling haha.
TW can you help me with what type of VAG-COM cable is compatible with the audi A3 8V .
got the VCDS installed on my windows 10 laptop all i need now is the right cable to buy. can you pls advice.
thanks.
m.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23.html That's the one mate... TW
el agua que se suele quedar en estos recipientes del filtro y normamelte se tenia un tornillo abajo, estos modelos no lo traen, como se quita el agua?
followed your video to replace my fuel filter on my A3 S Line sportback 2011. Really helpful, thanks a lot. Any other A3 videos????
Just what is on my channel Andy, I'm moving to Mercedes a250 amg in august so will do a oil filter and change shortly...
Thanks for watching! TW!
Hi Tim did you manage to make a video for the oil change on the A3 8V?
hello, great video, i'm very surprise, you don't need VCDS to start gasoil pump during one minute before start engine. I've seen the pump doesn't support fonctionnement without gasoil. thank you.
Many thanks mate. Yes on a few cars I've seen the fuel pump needed to be primed.
I believe the trick is to make sure the fuel canister storing the filter is not empty and that allows you to getaway without VCDS.

Surely rubbing your finger across it has a chance of contaminating it? Good vid, thanks
True Aaron,
Gloves on the next one I guess..
When getting the engine oil change, is it normally a must to change the filter?
No, fuel filter is at mileage intervals normally every 20,000miles...
Oil filter should be changed every year or 10,000 miles...

Tienes video para cambiar aceite dsg ?
Can u show hot o change Oilfiltr in same car? I have problem with that, dont know how to start doing it :D
Can you provide a OEM code for the filter ? I think is 5Q0127177 but I am not so sure. I need to change mine and already order 2 that not fit
How many miles has your A3 done, is that the first time the fuel filter has been changed? Did you edit any bits out or is it really as easy as it looks? 👍🏻
Close to 80k I believe mate...4 year old diesel, that is nothing in terms of mileage... I believe last time it was changed was around 60k... no bits edited..1/10 in terms of how hard it is to do matey... TW
TW Randomz thanks 👍🏻
coolant change and flush please
Hi mate,
unfortunately I no longer have this car, so am unable to perform the change...
Sorry
TW
same as the 1.6 tdi 8v?
Not sure mate. sorry :(

Doing it without priming the fuel transfer pump with vcds is criminal and deadly for the high pressure pump.
Guys i don’t have VCDS but when i change my fuel filter again with a genuine audi one, how many times should i turn on ignition key yo feed fuel through? Last time when i changed my fuel filter with ‘Mann Filter one my acceleration from 800rpm to 2600pm is so slow!!!! (2014 audi 1.6 tdi 8V Manual)
Wtf are you on about drama queen. There is a haynes video where it clearly says to syringe the old fuel out after the filter is removed and add new diesel when new filter is in. No mention of vcds.
Thanks for these service videos very helpful. Could do with one for 8v cabin filter is there an easy way to remove the plastic cover clips can't get mine off.
No worries mate! Done cabin filter already just waiting for time tomorrow to edit...please like and subscribe! many thanks TW
Ryan Rainford use thin nose pliers on top 3 clips it should then fold from top downwards (thats the easiest way i found)
Just done mine yesterday! Only difference was i pre soaked filter in fresh diesel & topped filter housing so it was full to brim (same level as before taking old filter out) fired up first flick of key no hesitation!
Thanks again for vid - very helpful!
P.s - about to do oil change...... have you seen where the oil filter is on the 2.0tdi (ea228 engine) 😱 wow...... who ever designed it needs a slap!
No worries mate thanks watching!
haven't seen the oil filter location tbh lol you've worried me now haha
I'm sending my car into Audi anyway to do the oil filter for the online service record as I'll do the rest myself

You need to prime after fuel filter change with vcds. Be careful not to damage the hpfp pump.
Yes on a few cars I've seen the fuel pump needed to be primed. But quite a lot of videos online showing the filter being changed without VCDS.
I believe the trick is to make sure the fuel canister storing the filter is not empty and that allows you to getaway without VCDS.

Yes that's true. If you top it off with fuel the engine often starts without hesitating.
yep i concur with this. It's important to prime using VCDS. What people won't realise is that even though the engine starts it will be compensating for any fuel starvation increasing wear.
Personally I'll make sure I prime with VCDS to avoid issues.
Always remove the old diesel. You can't see anything smaller than 25 micro with the eye so you don't know what is in it. One drop of water will ruin your day.
Why waste our time with tired garbage memes?
