I run a mobile mechanical business and use Mahle filters in everything. I noticed that Mahle's filter material is often superior quality to Mann's equivalents, often for less money. I also find Liqui Moly oil is an absolutely amazing product to use compared to Castrol - makes a massive difference in terms of engine clatter.
Great video! I recently bought an Audi A3 8P, 2.0 TDI 140hp with automatic dual-clutch transmission. Something I noticed feels off: whenever I’m starting from a stop, regardless of how hard I push the throttle, it takes about a full second for the car to actually start moving. The engine revs up to about 1k rpm and only after that does the car actually begin moving forward. This happens in D, in S, and in manual mode. I’m just looking for some advice from people that know more about this than me and who possibly drove this car in the past. The car has 76k miles / 123,000 km on it, for reference
I pick up my S3 8P tomorrow, car has no history so big service was first on my list. Found your channel a couple days ago and was gutted you hadn't done a service video as I'd quickly gotten through your other Audi videos. Big cheers for making this.
I really enjoyed watching this video, it’s so helpful I managed to service my car for the first time! Keep doing what your doing, you’re brilliant mate !!!
Really useful post, would have liked to see the fuel filter done as well. It's a quick and easy job, and well worth doing. I agree on the Mann filters, and did use Castrol Edge, but as Quantum is owned by VW and is approved for the 507 00 spec I now use that. Can be got from SEAT dealers every now and then for £22 for 5L! Keep up the good work!
Cheers for this! Just bought a 1 owner 59 plate 8P S Line with 94000 miles. Car looks and feels tip top but has been on long life service since it was new. So glad I stumbled on this video - I'd feel daft paying a garage to service my car now! Gonna get some axel stands etc and do this every 10k miles. Next owner (if there is one) would probably rather see I had done this myself every 10k / 1 year rather than having a garage do it every 18k / 2 years. Either way the car's 12 years old as it is so it's not like it'll hurt the value.
go for it mate! good luck! Check out the other videos on the A3 and you may even get some ideas for some modifications too, the latest video takes you through a load of cheap and easy ones to make your car look more modern
pre-soaking oil filters or filling the housing means the engine gets oil pressure ( oil light goes out ) quicker no bad thing' gotta look after those plain bearings/shells.
Ooh I had no choice but to jack up my car on grass it was broke down and my mom's backyard..... So I put 1inch thick piece of plywood underneath it and after being jacked up for 30mins the jack "wheels" broke through the board it was crazy, but had jack stands & wheel chocks for backup (just in time tho) 👍🏼....
I liked the video. Would have been nice to get a better camera angle during the removal of the oil filter and some more detailed explanations but overall useful information and great tips on fill service! Good way to save some $$ by doing a self service. subscribed.
brilliant m8 is it castrol engine oil you use m8 for audi a3,heard they need toping up with oil every 2 full tanks of fuel ,prone to drinking oil ill check my oil every week then i do 300 miles a week,m8,hate my armrest to high up ,its not good just above the hand brake ,arrrrrrrrrrrrrr
New oil filter,? always wipe a small amount of clean oil around the new rubber filter this will make it so much easier to fit and remove. When the last of the old sump oil is dripping out, get a cup of fresh clean oil and pour into the engine, this will flush out any remailing dirty oil left in the engine, a bit like washing any remaining soap off your body after a shower.
When refilling with clean oil I never get the garage to fill up to max line on the dipstick, always stop filling when oil is between min and max line, Why ? when any thing gets hot it expands. oil is no exception, fill to the max line and your oil level will go over the max line, this may cause damage to your engine, I also use "Activ8 lubricant additive, (have do so for the last 20+ years, watch the video on UA-cam, this stops 90 percent of engine wear, see what it will do for your engine, any sensible reply's welcome. You should try this Mati, you will be amazed. Add 250ml every 25,000 miles or every 5th, 5,000 mile oil change, one bottle will last for 100,000 miles.
Should have done the FF too. Clean flowing diesel is very important. You will get to a point that you will slowly start to lose power. Don't buy the cheapest filter you can find. Just like oil filters fuel filter are not the same either. You want a minimum of 10 microns. For yo that live in Europe you are lucky. Mann Mann Fuel PU 825 x and my preferred filter is Hengst Fuel E85KP D146. Both German companies. This is a pretty good video on the FF ua-cam.com/video/sebEPRjgyIg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=HaynesManuals. The only this wrong is do not fill the housing with fuel with the filter in it. Pour clean diesel in about 2/3 full. With the filter attached to the housing lid slowly lower give the diesel time to soak up. Before dropping the lid all the way down look and see that diesel is near the top. when everything is dome start and let idle for 5 - 10 minutes to purge any air out.
@@skinnymat It's a metal undertray on the Convertible for strength, loads more bolts and a brace right under where the oil drain plug is, a bit of a PITA, but the convertible is well worth it! I love mine!
Thank you so much for this informative video. Watched a few of your videos now! Awesome. I’m wanting to get a new steering wheel, can you suggest where I can get one from? 🙏🏻
I am doing tge service on my A3 2.0tdi atm When I was trying to take the oil Bolt out I can't is too tight. Any ideas how to loosen that ? Got exactly the same tool as you

Hi mate Looking to get an 8p in the next few days It’s a 2l tfsi.. anything I should be aware of and are the engines chain driven or belt driven? The timing belt?
Do you need a vag com cable for doing any of this? I have a 1.4 litre tfsi audi a3, want to change the brakes and do the service myself, pretty sure I need it to do the brakes
