Amazing DIY Small Bathroom Remodel Renovation for under $5K timelapse

- This was a 10' x 5' bathroom that was dated and had some water damage. So over the holidays I decided to make it my little project to give it a makeover. Everything was touched, removed all old fixtures, redid floor, wall, fan, pot lights, moved GFI, waterproofed, tiled, installed shower, toilet, vanity, plumbing, linen closet. I did spend a few hours each day for 3 weeks to plan, source and design, prior to the start date.
I'm very proud to say that I completed this all by myself without a stitch of help, aside from some consultation from a friend of mine. Please note that I'm by no means a professional who does this daily. I'm simply a DIYer who believes in himself and enjoys the creative aspect of building.
There is no limit to what you can accomplish if you set your mind to it and believe in yourself.

If this was a time lapse of me it would just be me crying in the corner after giving up.
Persistence is key to achieving things that seem impossible. Life is full of hurdles, mistakes and obstacles but there is always a solution - always. Its absolutely incredible to see what you can accomplish if you truly believe in yourself and constantly look for solutions!!!

Condy 😂😂same here
🤣
Yes!
Dudes wife is very very lucky to have him
It is actually me who is the lucky one. Without a supportive wife who believes in me and supports my crazy ideas, I wouldn't accomplish much of what I set out to do!!!
@@philloranger7133
Ahhhh. So perfect!
♥️♥️♥️
His wife did business in the woods during the time.
i hope every person can own there house and do something cool like this. nice job .
He did the Plumbing, the Wirings, the Walling, the Tiling and even installing the Glass Doors. He got a Mad Skills so obviously the result are Madamazing!!!!! Good Job!!!
@Yo Mama 1:05
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
And even the cleaning 😂😂
This Man Is A Superman Contractor 💪
I filled a big screw hole in my wall then sanded it lightly and painted over that spot. That felt like the most work of my life lol
Courtney Amber86 lol 😂 me too girl
It probably was...lol
😂😂😂
LMAO
Thank goodness! He put in the missing bulb! I was worried. Wish I had the mad skills and confidence to do that job!
@A T sure as hell got the job done. Just because you were taught another way, doesn't make it the "right" way🤣😂. I'm sure your jobs are shit compared to him though tbh
James Giles you can do it
I am confident if you practiced a few times you could also gain the skills and confidence to screw in a bulb. Just remember, righty tightly. 😉
Never underestimate yourself, you've got to have the "what's the worst can happen" attitude.
You'd be amazed what you can accomplish with a little confidence and belief in yourself. Sure, you make mistakes, but that's ok. You learn from them. There are always solutions. Pros know these solutions. DIYers must learn the hard way - and there is nothing wrong with that!!!
I love a man who knows his way around tools. Being able to build a home or redo a bathroom or kitchen is a great talent. I wish had this talent
You took care of this thing in a best possible way. Congratulations you are now a man. The way you posted your journey on here is a spot on. This is what other DIYers looking for. Thank you.
I see a lot of people doubting themselves. Obviously a very long task and he has a lot of experience but if you prepare yourself before each step, make sure you don’t skip over anything and, do expensive research before you even start, you could for sure accomplish something similar. Just like I said make sure you go over everything. Demo, dry wall installation(if you need Togo that far) Plumbing, electrical, tiles, etc. if you specifically research and watch videos on all these topics, you should be able to do a nice job. Even if you only research for an hour or 2. Have some faith and use the internet as a tool :)
Should have a 2nd bathroom too. The one being renovated will be out for 6 months minimum.
Ha!!! I COMPLETELY agree and this video serves to prove this!!! I spent hours on UA-cam and the internet researching and learning!!!
I changed the spark plugs on my Subaru (complicated hard to reach boxer engine) by UA-cam
Charles Lobster still....for 90% percent of average homeowners, this is NOT. DIY. Why. Because of the amount of rough in. To do rough in work, especially plumbing, and framing, takes years of experience and the right tools. So unless someone has the money to go out and buy all the tools. And then alll the materials, and has just enough information to be dangerous, a job like this is better left up to the pros. Again for 90%. sure, I’d say 10% of homeowners with a lot of skills and tools could do this job, but even that is a strong could.
@@foxfiresidechats5227 alsooo...you are supposed to get permits!
U sir are an amazing builder. Even the music selection for the video is great👍.
Lowkey fire music.
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!

That's $5K material.. And $20K labor for those that don't know how to do.. 😉
BigMig how hard can it be? *Destroys bathroom and wasted material... I’ll be going 40k in the hole
20k ??? I need a white man to negotiate my prices because thats like 6-7k materials included for me and im happy with that i can finish that in 2 weeks easy
@@bigcountry7096 not a white man, just a moron is what what u need.
BigMig lol not 20k labor. Not even close. Great job but pros do this in 2 days. This guy did great though

Literally so proud of you. This is the first video of yours ive watched/just came across this and swore you were a professional. I love this!
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
My own bathroom project is coming to an end this weekend with the arrival of the shower door. Very similar size to yours and decorated with virtually everything identical to yours as well. I’ve stripped all the walls out of all old tiles and had to start brand new from floor up. Like you, I’m not a pro at anything just a believer in myself and years of doing my own diy. Some minor mistakes along the way but we can live with it. We were quoted £7k , I did it for £5k. Well done mate. Middle finger to the professional scammers who over quote out of greed and Respect to all honest professionals.
Your amazing!!! Much love to you!!! And yes - believe in yourself and you can accomplish anything - I have spent my life proving that!!!!
I’m working on doing the same exact thing. My parents entire house needs renovation and we just flat out can’t afford it and don’t want to pay the fortune it’s going to cost us. So I’ve been researching and watching dozens of videos to learn each step and become as good as this person. I feel like I can really get it done. This video just inspired and motivated the crap outta me lol
I have a long overdue bathroom remodel. This was very helpful for me. I could see all the steps I'll need to take. Thank you so much.
I took ceiling popcorn off a 8x6 laundry room....5 minutes in I wanted to cry and give up. I chugged along, pissed off the entire time I even started the damn project. It all started with videos like this....🤦🏽♀️
Good news...update 7 days later...my laundry room is ALMOST done! 😂
Beautiful work!! Love your remodel!!
ALL THIS IN 5MIN AMAZING YOU ARE HIRED EXCELLENT WORK AND NO LUNCH BREAK
Solid work. Great idea for using the large format title across the floor and main wall - beats cutting tile to fit around the shower pan.
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!! I think large tile is nicer and yes - definitely easier to work with!!!
I hope to perfect the skills like this one day. He made it look so easy! Props to this guy
Awesome makeover, GREAT ideas!
I JUST shared my BATHROOM MAKEOVER on a tight BUDGET!

Nice!!! Very satisfying isn't it??? Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
WOW!! It looks AMAZING!!
First, thank you for sharing with us your skill. Great job. Great look. I am also very grateful for your detail in the description, which gives us an accurate idea of budget and item cost. Well done all around!
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
Now that’s a perfect remodel.
You make it look easy but clearly you are very experienced n talented. Nice job nonetheless. Goes to show you that the cost paid for someone's knowledge is far greater than the cost of materials.
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!! And yes - I agree. Knowledge and experience have tremendous value!!! Good thing we have UA-cam and so many amazing people who share!!!
I was looking for renovation ideas that matched the layout of the bathroom I'm going to remodel... That vanity next to tub, replaced with walk in shower next to toilet is unusual layout. Thanks for the confirmation it is possible for a reasonable amount of money. Nice turnout as well
Amazing job Phil!!!
Dude. What a great job! Love it.
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
Gorgeous renovation
This looks beautiful! I love the floating vanity!
How many skill does this guy have. Amazing job... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. In Australia this job would cost 30k which means someone is pocketing 25k. What a joke...
No mate, I do bathrooms for a living in Sydney
Asbestos removal $3k
Skip bin $400
Sparky $1k
Plumber $3k
Waterproofing $1k
Tiler $3k
Materials $1k
Tiles $1500
Toilet, basin, bath, tapware etc $5k and that’s with products with a 7-10yr warranty, not like old mate who put in cheap Chinese shit.
That’s almost $20k in overheads.
Then I need to make a dollar on it.
Don’t forget insurances, workers comp etc etc
Ian 57 well he obviously paid for his supplies that’s why his bathroom costed 5k and the only thing he is not paying for is labour which means that 5k in supply’s and 25k in labour...
Idk something doesn’t add up..
Calvin Williams pay for what you get, all my work is done by licensed contractors, if he puts in a insurance claim on his own work the insurance company will laugh at him, I’ve seen plenty of weekend warrior mistakes over the years
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!! I learn - and I believe. It's that simple. Sure I have a little experience but I used UA-cam and the Internet to figure things out!!!
i love that color tiles bathroom it came out amazing
The finished look is beautiful!
You did an amazing job, you should be very proud!!!😃👍👍👍
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
This was amazing. It looks soo beautiful.
That right there is a phenomenal job.
Enjoyed this vid.
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!!
If you watch it twice, you’re really thinking to change your bathroom :)
It takes time and courage - but all is possible and the finished product is well worth it all!!!

Looks amazing!!!! Love your simple and modern bathroom 🚿
this is so beautiful. perfect for keeping busy during covid
I wish I could all these things.. U r genius dude.. Thanks for sharing
This is really satisfying
I really like how you used just one type of tile for the whole space.
A heated toilet seat with bidet would have turned that awesome bathroom into an EPIC bathroom 🚽
I have a toilet seat warmer.... My Husband!
Holy crap that shower must be amazing lawl. Can rinse in 30 seconds
That’s amazing. I wish my hubby can do what you do. Sadly he can’t even change a door knob haha. Thumbs up to u
Excellent work. I'm doing a similar project. I've got no experience in many of those trades but with UA-cam and some trial and error I think anything can be learned.
Nice job looks awesome . Lol, tuff working in small quarters. I re-did my small bathroom too 👍
Wow! Amazing! Thanks for the details broken down
Looks amazing!
I'm not going to say that it is the easiest thing in the world to do; it looks like pretty hard work. But to those complaining that it's not DIY should really think twice about that. Sure, you might mess up here and there and you will probably take longer and spend a little more than he did. But if you do your homework, take it one step at a time, and stay determined, I think the average person can get it done if they have the time and dedication to completing it.
Your absolutely amazing !!! I could not agree more and this project proved that beyond any doubt!!!
Amazing video, that man is a wonder.
Only if I have half of your skills and confidence... Great job!!!
Thank you for the kind words - I sincerely appreciate it!!! Confidence and courage is definitely key. And also being ok with mistakes and always remembering that there are always solutions - always!!!
Time and effort. Nice work man.
Impressive!! Thank you for detailing the costs.
Amazing!!! Great job!
Blown away! Excellent job, dude ✊🏾

Amazing great work bro 🙌🏽💯
This is basically my day job. I 'build' wetrooms in the UK. Can't say it's the easiest job in the world.
sirchicken food where about do you work in the Uk?
I'm no expert at all but I'd be interested in your take about the bit where he tiled right onto drywall covered in reguard. Is that ok?
@@NCharlesworth86 there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to tile straight on to the plasterboard and regsrd providing it's obviously waterproof plasterboard. If it's around the shower area I would normally use polystyrene tilling board and seal up the gaps using a special tape and blue latex to make it water tight then tile straight onto that. I mean we tile straight onto plasterboard and wallpaper sometimes but I recommend you score it using a Stanley knife first to help it adhere.
@@forgingassets6509 south of the UK. Depends on where the job is.
Ha - no its definitely not!!! I'm an IT Director and this was very hard on my body that is not used to this type of labor!!!
