Corrections: There actually is precedent for NISA localizing a Falcom Switch port already because the Switch version of Nayuta that Falcom released in 2022 was the basis for the Switch version NISA released last year. Which is why when NISA announced that Daybreak is coming to Switch, the immediate thought was “I bet Falcom is making the port and it’ll come out early next year” and sure enough that turned out to be the case. Also, the Switch port of Tokyo Xanadu that Aksys is releasing with a revamped localization (thank god) is based off the Switch port of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ that Falcom released last year. To add my own speculation, I’m inclined to believe that XSEED will probably localize the Felghana ports at some point because they have brought over the other 3 ports Falcom made of games XSEED originally localized since they lost the rights to new games (CS1, 2, and Ys Celceta PS4 ports, first 2 came out in 2019 the third came out in 2020). My theory is that the newly announced PS ports have slowed down the process because XSEED likely wants to just release all of the ports at once so they only have to go through one marketing cycle for all of them.
7:43 Oath in Felghana is a PC remake of Ys 3 released in 2005, it was then ported to PSP in 2010, and the 2005 PC version was localized and put on Steam.

If I was Kondo, a Sky remake would be a very high priority for me, possibly a higher priority than a brand new trails game. One thing we've learned over the last few years is that Falcom's profits are increasingly coming from western audiences, and not having a way to play the Sky games, and having those be very old games, has hindered the growth of trails. Also, there is a huge amount of nostalgia for the sky series in Japan. About twenty years later is when you want to release remakes, ideally, those people who found Sky as kids are now young adults, ready for a new take on an old favorite, and those who found Sky as young adults now have kids of their own, and are ready to pass down the tradition of trails.
i think the action rpg is gonna be tokyo xanadu due to the fact the art book to the switch port teased something on the back being two characters we've never seen before

I’m debating starting the Sky trilogy knowing that a rerelease is on the horizon. But now knowing it’s suspended, and not knowing what I’m gonna play this year other than FF7 Rebirth, Stellarblade, SMT5V, and Metaphor, I might as well jump into it.
I recently started my Trails journey with Trails in the Sky FC very recently. I just finished that game and Im 10 hours into SC, so as much as I would love Luxin Trails videos, I dont think I'm ready for them lol.
More Kiseki videos would be nice :D Anyway, I agree with most of your predictions, but there is also a few other pieces of information that may change them: Falcom has stated they are working on a remake and we know it's not for an Ys game, but it's for a beloved game. A beloved game, it's probably refering for a beloved game in japan, so it's not necessarily a Trails remake. It could be anything from Vantage Masters to Gurumin, or even older like Sorcerian or Xanadu. On another interview they also mention something about an entry point Trails game. Which I'm asuming would be what you think is probably Kai 2. I don't think we'll see a Kai 2 this time around. Daybreak 2 was not something that was expected, and that pushed development for a year. Meaning that they had more time to develope Kai than usual. I'm sure they used some plot points and assets that were planned for it on Daybreak 2, but I don't think they used that much of it. The 3 titles are probably Trails in the Sky, but, it could be as well Ys 6, Ys 7 and Ys1&2 (those are the three Ys game we are still missing. Gagharv is also a possibility, but I think that would be too much work compared to the others.
When Xanadu games were more becoming niche, the Xanadu series are intently released by falcom in years ending in "X5", every 5th of a decade, not really like being squeezed into.
I know they’re working on Trails of sky remake trilogy and they’re working on Ys 5 remake too they are also interested in continuing Tokyo Xanadu. But based on their recent releases. They’re doing very well by the fans
One thing that I think I should point out is that we know Falcom found out how to reuse models from the old engine they used for Cold Steel (as seen with the Campanella screenshot just being his Cold Steel model.). So they're probably saving money and effort by reusing those models for returning characters and only creating new ones for characters that need 3D models (Onion Graham back?) or are young enough to warrant a design change if they show up in the future (so people like New Class VII, the Orion siblings and Tita who we know had another design change count as candidates for that since Old Class VII, the Cold steel Anguis and enforcers+any SSS member not named Tio now probably falls under the "Yeah, we can just use the cold steel models/designs cause they wouldn't change that much at this point".)

I hope you’re a fan of those others too and can’t wait to see more of your videos now that I’ve discovered you and just subscribed due to your excellent taste in liking the Xeno and Trails series
I'm not into the series, because I have absolutely no time to catch up with a series already having a dozen games while keeping up with other interests. But I'd watch recap and videos about the past games, because it sounds like a great series !
Could be a lot of reasons for the Sky games to have development suspended. Maybe they're mostly done but pending some kind of licensing sale/agreement with Xseed to allow the games to come to the US? Falcom may think that there's not much money to be made releasing the Sky games again to only the Eastern market when they just played the remakes on Vita, but the Western market has only ever had the PSP version either on PSP itself or PC. If they're going to remaster Sky it would likely be with an eye on the Western market for profit.
Perspective of a new fan: I have been seriously considering jumping into Falcom games for a while now. The response (at least from western fans) has always been so positive. And while the research I have been doing has been rewarding so far - and I’m excited to jump in, (likely with Ys X or Daybreak) I can’t help but get the impression that Falcom’s approach to publishing and localization has been amateurish. In other words, these elements haven’t received the same level of care as their games themselves. While it may be a situation of a small company punching above their weight (idk how big a company Falcom is) - word of mouth can only take you so far. If these games are going to reach the audiences they deserve, they have to get on top of these aspects of game publishing and marketing internationally too. Prospective fans need to be able to spend less time researching and more time playing. The natural hype cycle that I have to assume is present to some degree in Japan for these games that would really help with this is only gonna spill over if the localized versions come out in short order. It’s like it’s all creatives over there and no managers. I feel like I learned half the trails titles are a result of them failing to manage their production pipeline and saying “eh whatever we’ll just stop here and make two games” while this doesn’t seem to have an effect on game quality, I can definitely see this amateurishness contributing to unnecessary idiosyncrasies with ports and translations.
2 months late i know lol. But i really love falcom too and i found out about them not long after playing the original xenoblade back some years ago. Ive heard people not liking the music much anymore unless its some loud minority which i have a difficult time telling. But besides that i haven't found any fan groups. Falcom deserves more attention imo.
I know there's a video already on this guy's channel saying how to get into the Trails series, but DANG this series is torture to keep up with if you aren't Japanese. It's like Kingdom Hearts in terms of keeping track of all the games and HAVING to play all the games in chronological order but even worse since all the games are 100+ hour RPGs, they're split across numerous consoles with certain ports may or may not being avalible in certain regions, a 5+ year delay on official localizations, and there's 13 of them compared to Kingdom Heart's 6 or so actually important games (KH1, Re:CoM, KH2, BBS, DDD, and 3) and being able to watch cutscenes for the games you don't like the gameplay of and still get the full picture. Plus Kingdom Hearts games are pretty short for a JRPG at around 15-20 hours each. (minus KH2 which is 30h and BBS which is 50h for all campaigns) Sky 1, 2, and 3 are ONLY on PC/Steam, and only in their original PSP versions. (not the Vita remasters) Zero and Azure are on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC but got localized WAY after their JP releases. (10+ years after and post CS3&4) Physical versions of both games are extraordinary rare and expensive. ($100+ USD) Cold Steel 1&2 are on PS4 and PC, but not Switch. The PS4 versions are super rare and expensive. Switch versions are avalible but only in Japan. Cold Steel 3&4 are on Switch, PS4, and PC, but are extremely rare physically going for hundreds. Reverie was only localized recently and is avalible on PC, PS4, and PS5, but not Switch. Daybreak is only avalible in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, not English. An English localization will be eventually patched into the Korean version. It is only avalible on PC and Switch in English. The PS4/PS5 versions are Japanese exclusive. It has a fan translation for both the Japanese and Korean versions. Daybreak 2 is only in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean with an English fan translation. There is no announcement of an English localization. Sky 1 is 60h Sky 2 is 40h Sky 3 is 25h Zero is 80h Azure is 120h CS1 is 90h CS2 is 150h CS3 is 200h CS4 is 250h Reverie is 200h Daybreak is 150h Daybreak 2 is 80h Those are some LOOOOONG games and there's more of them than Kingdom Hearts AND they have to be played in order or you'll be completely lost!
I need TRAILS IN THE SKY REMASTERS for consoles in the west as well as YS Chronicles 1 and 2 remasters for consoles. In the West. Are there any news on these?????????
Kai Kiseki being the 90% finish line seems weird considering that Kuro 2 did little to nothing to advance the Calvard arc but instead provided character development and tying up loose ends for certain characters. 90% done with the overall story seems like Kondo just wants to finish the story
i am working on something like that but falcom definitely wont do it. they need to remake trails in the sky in the style of the current games so that the content can match the current existing kiseki locales, and so that they can use it as a backdrop in future games like reverie and cold steel used crossbell
I had to stop listening when you said unfortunately NISA still owns the rights (I'll continue it after a NISA apologist rant). I don't think you realize how much good NISA has done for the series. - Hired Durante's team to do the ports. These are excellent for PC. - Kept a lot of the same voice actors and try to keep as many that they can while hiring some excellent voice actors for new characters because they have the connections and ability to do so. - Advertising while still not great is still better than it was under XSeed or Aksys (tokyo Xanadu). - worked with a fan translation team to release an older game. Very few companies would ever consider even contemplating this. They likely are the ones who argued to allow geo-front to do the games to Falcom. - They've given us all the dlc they can almost every time. The exceptions are the VoFan and Utawarerumono costumes and one set of gas station costumes. Everything else we've gotten. XSeed missed out on some costumes due to the lack of connections or unwillingness to try and get them. NISA tries hard to get us everything. - They haven't censored content in the series yet. The most they due is make things a bit more subtle but they always have kept all the material and the script still has the same intent as the original in nearly every instance. - They take the time with the localization and have hired people who care about doing a good job with the series more often than not. - Bigger Budget allowing them to branch into other areas and do more marketing. Admittedly they could be better in this regard but little marketing is better than no marketing. - Decent collectors editions for those that enjoy them - Simultaneous Console/PC releases...this was something that they started doing recently but they've gotten to the point they can do this now. - Willingness to work on a series with some extremely toxic fangroups. - Only went after fan patches after they were added into a copy of the game being distributed. This is absolutely a legal thing from Falcom likely for them to keep their license. Fan translations are fine but not if distributed with copies of the game. The biggest negatives to NISA are ironically the things people complain about them for the most; - censorship (there is none yet just cleverly reworded dialogue to make things more subtle in some instances) - Direct translations which lack character at times. Sometimes they translate the Japanese a bit too directly and the characterization suffers as a result. - typos; with a game as long as this I would expect anyone to have some. - Not XSeed - because 'they' faithfully adapted the games and never ever localized and added to the script. Some of the things they changed Falcom liked so much that they put it into the game canonically. Perhaps they don't do that quite as much due to NISA not being as small a company. At least NISA gives credit where it is due whereas XSeed previously had an issue with that. - slow translations; still faster than XSeed at its heyday and they are getting quicker as the series becomes more and more important to NISA in general. At least they aren't rushing it. But sure let's all clown on NISA for giving us subpar localizations at a relatively quick and efficient matter and ignore the fact most companies would take years to do all the work they do on a single entry in half that time. NISA is not like the company of Ys VIII or Ar Tonelico II and I think after seeing them almost lose the falcom license they do care about releasing a good product. With that out of the way I'll finish the video.
I just found your channel and watch the video, i kinda skeptical with Trails in the Sky remake especially with Kondo said in Ys V remake question "A remake would require significant changes, and the cost and labor would probably be more than just making a new game." Personally i wanna see Ys V remake or remaster as the game stuck on Ps2 version.
Great video, it seems I was clueless about a lot of Trails games, I thought the furthest they were was Reverie 2 lol. Im playing CS 3 now, how many games are there between this and the ones announced here? I thought it was CS 4, reverie 1 and 2 but that seems to be wrong?
In terms of the Trails series, after Cold Steel 3, there's Cold Steel 4, Reverie, Daybreak, Daybreak 2. Of those, only Cold Steel 4 and Reverie have been translated and released in English. The English localisation of Daybreak releases this year and Daybreak 2 probably won't get translated til next year at the earliest. There is also Nayuta, which has been translated into English. I don't know how Nayuta ties into the rest of Trails but it's there if you wanted to play it.

A great video but you made a mistake in the part where you say that PC is the only system where all of Kiseki is available on. All of the series is available in Japan on PS4/PS5 through the Playstation Plus streaming service having the PS3 versions of the Sky trilogy availbale through streaming.
and yet its still going to take YEARS to English DUB ALL 10+ games Kai/Kuro 3 IS still likely to be on the PS4 PS5 Switch but the DUB of it probably won't exist until like closer to 2027 and by then Japan will always be 2 to 3 games AHEAD of it.
Something maybe interesting for sky localisation is that there are 2 instances of NIS American releasing a xseed game and that being the EU versions of cold steel 1&2 on ps3 and vita. This probably means absolutely nothing but still.

I love Xenosaga and Xenoblade too but Trails is just a little better for me but Xenogears is still my number ONE single game. I know I repeated myself but that’s because they’re great lol. Final Fantasy 7, Radiant Historia, Suikoden, Dragon Quest, Persona, SMT, Fire Emblem, Tales series, amongst others are great too.
I want more of this stuff
Haveing now gotten through Sky 3, yes, please, more Falcom content.

(minus KH2 which is 30h and BBS which is 50h for all campaigns)
Sky 1, 2, and 3 are ONLY on PC/Steam, and only in their original PSP versions. (not the Vita remasters)
Zero and Azure are on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC but got localized WAY after their JP releases. (10+ years after and post CS3&4) Physical versions of both games are extraordinary rare and expensive. ($100+ USD)
Cold Steel 1&2 are on PS4 and PC, but not Switch.
Sky 1 is 60h
Sky 2 is 40h
Sky 3 is 25h
Zero is 80h
Azure is 120h
CS1 is 90h
CS2 is 150h
CS3 is 200h
CS4 is 250h
Reverie is 200h
Daybreak is 150h
Daybreak 2 is 80h
Those are some LOOOOONG games and there's more of them than Kingdom Hearts AND they have to be played in order or you'll be completely lost!
Just wanted to comment that Reverie is on Switch in english, I have the physical cartridge right here.
I need TRAILS IN THE SKY REMASTERS for consoles in the west as well as YS Chronicles 1 and 2 remasters for consoles. In the West.
Are there any news on these?????????
Fingers cross for a Kefin, Lost Kingdom of Sand remake, but Title C is probably Ys XI.
i think its two new ip in development, one will come out this year
we want more trails
i need more coverage of kiseki
So which do you prefer Ys IV, Ys IV or Ys IV which is based on Ys IV?
What was the song used at the beginning of the video?
It’s from trails through daybreak. I believe the song is called arkride solutions.
Kai Kiseki being the 90% finish line seems weird considering that Kuro 2 did little to nothing to advance the Calvard arc but instead provided character development and tying up loose ends for certain characters. 90% done with the overall story seems like Kondo just wants to finish the story
Dude a HD 3D trails in the sky remake would probably be my DREAM game
i am working on something like that but falcom definitely wont do it. they need to remake trails in the sky in the style of the current games so that the content can match the current existing kiseki locales, and so that they can use it as a backdrop in future games like reverie and cold steel used crossbell
- Decent collectors editions for those that enjoy them
- Simultaneous Console/PC releases...this was something that they started doing recently but they've gotten to the point they can do this now.
- Willingness to work on a series with some extremely toxic fangroups.
- Only went after fan patches after they were added into a copy of the game being distributed. This is absolutely a legal thing from Falcom likely for them to keep their license. Fan translations are fine but not if distributed with copies of the game.
The biggest negatives to NISA are ironically the things people complain about them for the most;
- censorship (there is none yet just cleverly reworded dialogue to make things more subtle in some instances)
- Direct translations which lack character at times.
That cool
I just found your channel and watch the video, i kinda skeptical with Trails in the Sky remake especially with Kondo said in Ys V remake question "A remake would require significant changes, and the cost and labor would probably be more than just making a new game."
Personally i wanna see Ys V remake or remaster as the game stuck on Ps2 version.
A propper remake of trails in the sky would make me cry. Also Crossbell
There is no tooth fairy, there is no Santa Claus, and there is no Reverie 2
Please do ys.
Second (just like Van in trails protagdom)
You should definitely do more videos on Kiseki games not many people do
Hell I wouldn't have gotten into Kiseki if it wasn't for your video
I do like your lore videos and i love trails so hopefully you can tell me something i dont know need to play crossbell arc its the only one i haven't played i did love kuro no kiseki 1 and 2
So pretty much Trails through daybreak 3: farewell O Zumeria is the final Calvard Arc game
But it seems after that they’re continuing the series New trails game on a different world ???or Arc That’s actually a bit surprising I guess they’re gonna make more games. in the trail series.🤔🤔🤔🤔I’m guessing???
Yes I want more trails/Nihon Falcom videos and a follow up video or two on "Incoherently Rambling About my Thoughts on the Trails Series (so far)"
ua-cam.com/video/ZWg8YCcX05E/v-deo.html
Yes .... maybe
I clicked because I had no idea what Nihon Falcom is
any news on these????
Sure would be nice if Falcom would make an actual mecha JRPG in almost the same league as Xenogears.
Trails of Cold Steel 2 is that
@@nitez2730 More thinking sci-fi to be honest.
No one talk about how Kai could be connected to Nayuta in some way ahah.
I want more of this stuff in the comment 😂😂
A great video but you made a mistake in the part where you say that PC is the only system where all of Kiseki is available on. All of the series is available in Japan on PS4/PS5 through the Playstation Plus streaming service having the PS3 versions of the Sky trilogy availbale through streaming.
and yet its still going to take YEARS to English DUB ALL 10+ games Kai/Kuro 3 IS still likely to be on the PS4 PS5 Switch but the DUB of it probably won't exist until like closer to 2027 and by then Japan will always be 2 to 3 games AHEAD of it.
This isn't a Xeno video! I subscribed for Xeno videos! Unsub.... I'm KIDDING! I'm also a huge Ys fan.
I don't know how to get through Cold Steel IV. There's blatant pedobait in it ;~;
Something maybe interesting for sky localisation is that there are 2 instances of NIS American releasing a xseed game and that being the EU versions of cold steel 1&2 on ps3 and vita. This probably means absolutely nothing but still.
Promo>SM
Too bad it'll be localized by NISA.
