We in the US had no idea Carlene was making this wonderful music over in the UK with the rockers. It was the pre-internet days. I didn't even know she existed till she exploded on the scene here with the Fell in Love album. They got the balls, and she's got the bat.
i have an Lp from 1969 with Dave Edmunds called Blues Helping, were he plays some of the nastiest blues guitar you could want to hear, he was always very underrated but one of the best players in the biz, Here he shows another side of his rock & blues nature and just plays melody lines with Carlene who is another underrated artist & confermed guitar nut , a great treat to watch them have fun with this easy laidback tune. GREAT FUN ..

that must be the only Explorer-shape acoustic i've ever seen! Country artist singing a country song in a country playing style but with a heavy-metal acoustic 😯
A gem of a find,so pleasant with great harmony.Carlene and Dave are a great duo my first time hearing this and I loved the lyrics. Thanks for sharing ar
I'm never at a loss for words and have plenty to say about this song that I can't get enough of -- but I thought your comment captured my sentiments just fine.
Dave was a good-looking dude in his younger years! Never heard this duet before, really nice, they harmonize well together. I'll be playing this again, I'm sure! 👌
Really liked this. I'm a Dave Edmunds fan and he's usually more of a rockabilly guy. I was listening to my music library and it said Carlene Carter so I checked it out on Wikipedia and it talked about Dave Edmunds doing this song with her. She has beautiful blue eyes.
Remember seeing this live on a BBC2 Friday show (Friday Night Saturday Morning) about 1979 and bought the single for 40p some months later. Unforgettable
Wonderful Song ! Love it ! It's one of my all time favourites, and they sing it beautifully together ! There is great chemistry between them and they seem to be really enjoying themselves ! Superb Video ! Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous upload ! 5*****+
Einfach großartig, die beiden! Dave ist seit Love Sculptures Zeiten einer meiner großen Gitarrenfavoriten. Er verträgt sich in der Gesangsharmonie großartig mit der Frau seines Kumpels Nick Lowe. Tolles Duett!
Thanks for bringing this to us! Dave and Nick Lowe were so wonderful in Rockpile (although their album didn't really capture it), and Nick and Carlene were married. Thanks again!
Great to discover this vid. I was given Carlene's record, "Musical Shapes" by a late friend in the early 80's and I wore it out. All memorable songs, great voice, and great guitar.
Carlene never got the attention that she should have. She not only has a wonderful voice, but she is an excellent songwriter, too. And, I have to say, she is very sexy. I have to think that she didn't want to put herself in the spotlight too much, that she was content just doing her music and not necessarily wanting to deal with the grind of being a superstar. That's all fine with me. I got to listen to her excellent music without having her sell out.
Nick Lowe I am guessing hogged her during the best years of her life while they were married at this time. He was probably too busy showing off himself to promote her too. She is as charming as they come. Strikingly pretty, great voice, music in her genes.
Gene Davis I had a dear friend in Chicago named Raoul Stobber. It has been many years but the memories of listening to Carlene are so fresh and sweet. I used to visit my Granny and carry an old cassette player up the mountain to an abandon coal mine shaft and listen. There was an old mtn lion in there but I guess the music kept her calm. I was 17 or 18, now I'm 52. Years pass by quick and things become no more and what you loved is no longer there, the music always takes me back. Time travel LOL
Music has a lot of power to take us back. I currently have something like 4,800 songs on my iPod. All kinds -- old rock, new rock, old country, jazz, blues, classical. About the only thing missing is Armenian folk songs, but if I find an album I like, I will have some Armenian folk songs. lol
Wow that is awesome. Check my list on spotify, lot's of folk there brother. I never have an ipod but it sounds like a lifeline. I love all kinds of music. I love the blues, all of it pretty much. I really gotta get an ipod. Many blessings to you Mr Davis.
Great cash number god bless the big fella. Sadly missed great effort there sounds realy good.. Harmonies are great and what do you expect another 2 greats 👍🍺🏴
I couldn't agree more! I saw Dave Edmunds play at an iconic San Francisco club in the mid 80's, Wolfgangs, capacity maybe max of 100 occupants. One of the BEST shows I've ever seen. Watching this guitar virtuoso play from just inches away was a highlight of my musical life. ❤ Dave Edmunds
WHAT BOB MARSHALL SAID!!! I was lucky enough to meet her once. She will talk for hours about music and anything. Real class and talent Taylor Swift.....pffffft!
Why would you slam Taylor Swift? She doesn’t come from a musical dynasty with all the connections, she hasn’t slammed anyone in this video as far as I know, and people enjoy her music. Loser.
@@MysterD515 Taylor Swift is a corporate media creation. Her music is superficial trash. Carlene has true talent. She didn't get where she is simply by being a member of the Carter family.

I try to search for info on them today, to see if they're still on speaking terms, but can't find anything. I saw Rockpile back in 1980, and I've seen both Nick and Dave solo. Awesome shows, all of them. They had such chemistry in music.
I opened a security gate for Nick a couple months back and I can attest, he's a dude! Even hit me with the "I'm with the band" line. The one guy in all these gigs recently that I just wanted to grab a beer with.
The song is from Carlene's Album Musical Shapes. Rockpile are the backing band on most of the tracks. Also available on a Dave Edmunds compilation called Chronicles ( I think )
Carlene is the whole package at this stage of her career.
Screw your package you narrowminded fool
If you check out UA-cam, you'll see that Carlene is still the whole package. And Dave's voice is unique. You can't mistake him for anyone else.
I don't know how much these two worked together but this is an impressive duet by any standards.
Oh Carleen, you & Dave really are a party together!!! 🥳🥳
What an absolute diamond of a song. Found this on my Nick Lowe journey..am so glad I did. The two voices blend SO well.
Steve, agree good as it gets, it's not country these days
@@donhanlon7121 not total country it planned to be mix ingredients hahah I appreciate your catch over the music

Absolutely agree. A much underrated talent.
I soooo agree to that! Dave is top! and Carlene too!
The RRHOF is not worthy of Dave Edmunds.
Stunning, the voices, the music, the era, the beauty!

I love the pure country harmonies of this song with them together
I think the same as you 😊
2 great singers and a brilliant song. Perfect.
What a great duet! They sound fantastic together.
One of the BEST all-time country songs. Just LOVE it!
Song by Richard Dobson.
Many thanks to the copyright owners for allowing their song to be shared with and enjoyed by many others!!!
Awesome duet, they go well together and a great song to boot..
Great to see Carlene and Dave singing this song together. I use to listen to this song all the times I am sad for anything. Thank you Bthomas!
God, the chemistry between those two. Hope Nick wasn’t too jealous but who could blame him?

Totally agree. Edmunds is and was brilliant
Lifting spirits once again. So professional. Worn out video.

Great guitar because the personnel on that record is great. Basically it's Rockpile with a few other ass kickers tossed in.
It's a happy-go-lucky love song - and they make a nice duo with great vocals!
