- I would be honored with your subscription. The Garmin Instinct is known for its excellent battery life and powerful GPS. This first model has gone on hundreds of adventures with me and I’ve worn it every day for over 4 years now.
The battery life is still great, although it has degraded slightly. This is definitely a consideration since it’s not a solar model. That said even after 4 years of use this model still gives plenty of battery life for my needs, which are considerable.
Thank you all for your support, have fun out there, and Semper Paratus!

Hi Chris. Still rockin’ the original Instinct solar. I get about two weeks without any battery saver mode. Had it over 1 1/2 years.
Hi Paul, that’s awesome! The solar version will definitely be my next move. That’s a lot of battery life, thanks for letting me know!
Hi, Chris. That’s excellent battery life four years in and still an exceptional value today. For comparison, my two-year-old Instinct Solar gets 21-24 days in smart-watch mode sans sunlight and 28+ with daily sunlight. I still charge it weekly, though - because, habit! - and rarely beyond 80%, so I see no practical difference between the two watches given that I rarely use the blood-oxygen function added to the solar version. Love the videos, man. Keep it up!
Hi Gary, thank you for taking time to leave a detailed comment. I appreciate knowing the experience others have with their watches, that's great to know you still get fantastic battery life with your watch! Thanks for the support, I appreciate you and hope you have a great day!
Good to know. I just bought a solar version of it in good money and am happy to know degradation is so low. Mine is 2022.
Lucky man! I've had my Instinct for just over a year now and I can't go more than 4 days without having to recharge the battery! Keep in mind this is with no GPS activity, and when I do an activity the battery life becomes worse.
just left comments that my Instinct started having issues couple months ago and just died... not quite 2 years since purchase. Worth contacting support at Garmin.
You same as mine
@@ChhounSeyha-bl8iz I was able to contact Garmin for a free replacement!
Mine is losing a bar a day!
Update: they honored the warranty even though it had expired by a few months. Great Garmin support!
I've had my instinct 1 for about 3 years now. Only use it during activities. Cool to hear about 36 hours on ultratrac, that might hold for mine too. I'm looking to try some longer stuff and was worried it might die on me. But I'm guessing it'll depend on how much I fiddle with it as well 😊
interesting stats. After 22 months Instinct solar battery totally died... sad and disappointing as I love the watch. Now debating a factory refurbished exchange or get Instinct 2. Glad to see someone getting decent battery life and hoping my watch was an exception
Being use this watch 1 year and a half. Now battery drain so fast, did i need to replace a battery sir?
Hi, will it charge from 0-100% battery under 30 minutes? I just brought garmin instinct . Just wanted to know
I had one bought used so i dont know how oldnit really is , but now it dies on me 😢
Sir, Is your phone always in Bluetooth pairing mode when using it?
Hi Mr. Geni, yes my watch is in bluetooth mode when using. That is a great call out and definitely impacts the battery life. Thank you for your question and support of the channel! I hope you have a great day
I bought a "NEW" Garmin Instinct on Amazon, when doing ~3 hours walk on GPS Mode with wrist heart rate off and Bluetooth my battery indicator decreased 2 bars out of 5. Would that be considered normal battery life? I'd like to know because if not I could return the watch. Could someone make an example on how quickly the GPS drain the battery?
Hi Mega, simply put no this is not normal battery life. I would charge it completely and try one more time. If it drains that much so quickly, I would ask for a new one. I have seen some instances where the first bars drain quickly and the last ones really slowly, but personally wouldn’t risk it. I’m sorry and hope you have a great day. It’s still a great watch!
@@CoastieOutdoors Thanks for your reply. I did let the watch discharge then proceed to charge it for like 3hrs, unfortunately the same issue is hapenning. Since I bought the watch from Amazon I'll return it and go for the much newer Instinct 2X Solar.
What charger do you use?
Hi, I use a regular usb charging block or my apple one and garmin's proprietary charging cable. I hope that helps and you have a great day!
Unfortunately my battery is finally shot in my instinct, i only get 2-3 days now. And idk how it only took your watch 20-23 minutes to fully charge always have taken mine hours to charge
