@CountryCritter This is Wilbur Strutt. I was the leader and co-founder of Shyster in the 80s. Also the lead singer/co-song writter of this song. Bob Brug Bass Player, Jimi Goare Guitarist, Kevin Nevious Keyboards, Denny Gorsuch drums. Recorded at Beachwood Studios near Cleveland, Ohio. Hope you like it and thanks to all who gave their feedback. Thanks to Bruce Huffman Guitars/Vocals, Ken Savage/Keyboards/Technician and a few other players as well. Carl Meduri Producer
My uncle Mark is Kevin Nevius brother. My family loved this band! I have the cassette tape but i haven't been able to play it on anything! Do you have anymore songs you can put on here?? ??
Wilbur...I was just entering the club scene when this band was peaking!!! I actually think I have even gotten the pleasure to meet you on an occasion. My band Obsession had many interactions with Jim Hertetski, and sound man Rick Able and also a Skp from Lima area. I do remember this band disbanding and a combo of two great groups formed Shylock. I could go on all day naming bands of the day....Tempest, Shyster, High Society, The Dix, Ruby Jones, Ebeneezer, the Exception, The Other Half......Just a good time to be alive and part of Live music in Northwest Ohio back in the day!
How this song/band never made it national still astounds me almost 40 years later....I have 10,000 songs on my playlist on Spotify, but I have to keep coming back to UA-cam to hear this song....this song is in my top 100...yes I have a list...
Brings back memories of the old Rally by the River days. The Toledo area had a GREAT music scene in the 80's and you could see a live band almost any night of the week. Shyster was one of my favorites. Thanks for the upload!
I played with Jimi (actually, I always referred to him as James, lol :). Great memories. One of the best guitarists I know. BTW: The sax player is Ricky Bell. He used to play for the Michael Stanley Band out of Cleveland, Ohio.
wow, that's awesome, i love msb !! i have a lot of their lps & in good condition if not better too ! also, have this shytster lp, tempest too ! also, i saw msb open for foreigner 4 tour, & i swear to you, i loved msb better, they came out & they were on fire from the start, really impressed me, went home and bought several of the lps !
Just a fluke I did a search for this band. I bought their album when they were performing in clubs in the Findlay area back in the 80's. My albums were all ruined when my basement flooded. Digging through them I came across the album and said out loud OMG...Shyster. Too cool to be able to hear it after all of these years. Thanks for the memories:)
this was thier number one hit. I love this song, and had a chance to see them in Tolelo in the early 80"s. A friend of mine was friends with a girl who dated Jimi. It was really great to see them live. The place was rocken! You talk about a lead singer who could sing!!
Killer track Nightwalker, top quality AOR.Never heard of the band before,i particularly liked the sax touch...Another essential for speeding our cars on a highway:)
Some years ago i found two copies of this ep on ebay. And i bought them both. One of the sellers presented this as aor. The band was unknown to me at that time. So it was a big surprise when i heard it for the first time. The only somewhat weaker song is suspicious. But the rest of this ep is really good. Especially the real aor tracks tonight and rock this way. But the song bernadeane is very catchy. With great hit potential. All in all good songs amd great musicians.
Wow!!! those are names I have not heard since probably 1988. Wilbur, I have met you several times back then, Shooters, Roxannes, Glass City Boardwalk, Kip's, Buttons, and Henry J's. It is great seeing this on UA-cam. I have had this song in my head for YEARS and was never able to come across it, nor how to get hold of you. GREAT to see you surface and thanks for some GREAT music. If you ever find yourself around Detroit, let me know.
@hoyle1129 Hey Wilbur. Thanks for the info. I know Bob, he later played in a band with my bro-in-law here in Toledo. Would be great to get ahold of some of the tunes from the local artists from back then.

It's so interesting that you bought both copies when you didn't know anything about the band! Why two rather than one?
Oh geez
It really is!

NightwalkerAOR are you from the states? I see you're in Greece? Just curious how you got hooked up with Shyster?

Instant rip off of Gerry Rafferty and Quaterflash.
