- Morote Seoinage 背負い投げ. Both arms Shoulder throw
Technique break down
This is a DRILL, it isn't how we actually throw, except in judo training mode.
It is how we learn to attack with this. The steps differ on the situation of the actual usage, sideways forwards and back, or angled all have their own specialist step patterns that need muscle memory training. The is just the base pattern with static partner. When opponent advances forwards its actually easier to throw. - Спорт
I struggle with this throw. No matter how I work on my form my wrist and elbow hurt. I’m old and stiff and always think I’m lower than I actually am which makes the stress worse.
Pay careful attention to point elbow through forwards in the throw direction or vertical (waki shime) to relieve stress. Make good break balance action with the uchikomi. Dont do morote on shorter judoka or grab a low collar grip, keep hammer edge of fist pointing forwards. Your problem is a notorious injury point and typical for judoka who dont achieve break balance, they strain elbow and wrist. Take care and it doesn't get injured.
Same… I stick with ippon seo
This is my favorite throw. I just need the confidence to not care how I use it. When it’s time for randori something happens to where all the movement I’ve practiced spent fine along in the right way. I wish it wasn’t like that. Maybe I need to practice more so I can just do it.
Same up too now.... tried morote after so many yrs. I could do the shadow but when im doing it to my son it freakin hurts my wrist and akward. Went back to ippon seionage, sode and hip throw.
maybe you dont go low enough thats why your arm hurts you, look Steve Cunningham seoi nages video
Judo guys when they see the first snow flakes falling, "winter is coming!...". Only if you've done Judo you'll know 😂 🥋
the bigger you are the heavier you fall and both you done it beautifully. 😊
Thank you sir
Awesome judo
Beautiful.
Nice
Thanks to make this film before he got too old
Yes age is often a two edged sword, on the one hand you become more efficient, but also you can easily lack the go juice of youthful enthusiasm. We must always train with a sense of urgency to be valid.
Nice one
Hello do you happen to have any tips for this throw? It is the only throw for my grading that is simply not clicking with me. Am i trying to lift with the arm in the armpit or simply pull him over with the sleeve arm?
Add the sasae tsuri-komi ashi teachnique on the opposite side to the Osoto gari, and that helps it click. Try 2 fake attacks with sasae, then hit the Osoto, or two fake osoto then hit sasae.
@@JudoLife excellent! I shall try this thank you 🙇♂️
Watched this so many times and still can’t figure out when the grip changes. You start with right hand on the collar and then at the end, it’s on Ukes sleeve
Clean Uchikomi
This is one of my favorite throws and I love it! But I prefer to use an irregular grip where I have my right hand on my opponent's right lapel, it just feels more fluent, is easier and is quicker for me to do.
Yes a lot of judogi are tight on the shoulders and injuries occur when straining elbow so naturally judoka choose eri- seoinage in preference
@@JudoLife Thank you very much for the advice, and I do indeed prefer the different grip. 👍👍😁
Morote Seoinage seriam as duas mãos na gola, esse do vídeo é o Seoinage!!!!
2 hands on collar = eri seoinage
I just discovered this channel today. I’ve always wanted to learn Judo. Is 54 too old to become a student?
Not at all, if you are active sporty. If inactive need to start slowly but the Sensei will help you with warm up routines that will be beneficial if you explain your specific needs.
👍
ótima execução
What happens after you flip them ? Do they die ?
Honestly they are usually knocked out, or stunned stupid, or winded, if you are talking on the street, and no, they don't need a gi. Occasionally they might die, (broken skull) but usually if I want to, its so easy to throw them on their head rather than land them on their back, or throw them to land with their back over throwers knee to break their back. But reasonable use of force laws usually prevent fatal force, etc, and who really wants to kill. Most times its just about incapacitating some aggro ass hole who security need to evict or arrest. Most even gentle judo trained throws knock out the aggressor.
@@JudoLife what's the difference between this (seoi nage) and the shoulder throw in wrestling?
@@Anon_Nekas unsure about that, they have a deeper shoulder fit, and spiral the opponent more, I think it's closer to uchi-makikomi in judo throws than this technique.
Bro had to make sure💀
Yes. 😂😂
Maestro me puede decir porque cuando hace la entrada y ejecuta el kusushi se para en punta de pies ????
Qué pasa en ese tiempo exacto???
If you watch the actual full entry and look at that point, it is correct. When emphasising the kuzushi just prior to that it is (noted by myself that) it is the toes and the ball of the foot for the stomp kuzushi step showing that over emphasis for a teaching point, of upwards lift from the kuzushi. The heel goes lower on the actual entry. I think its all good. Please watch the action of the throwing and view the same point.
when someone grips up on you for a judo attack and slams you down at speed you know about it enough said
Judo is certainly effective in throwing down hard. People attacking you dont get up, and the general public certainly seem unaware. of this efficiency and effectiveness. They view judo from the angle it is pushed, combat sports.
But what are you gonna do about it, when your Body is flung through the air.
Clean Graeme
Can you do another one using the beard?
I am pretty sure the uke will whinge, but I can ask. It's a bit weird though, easier and more secure to grab a collar grip. The throw would obviously still work, a handful of hair is useful. Judo trained people won't usually compromise their posture, even with hair grabs, so the grip would slip, unless they agree to go with the technique for fun.
I haven't done Judo in awhile but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to have flat feet while executing the throw.
There is in the demonstration insignificant weight on the heel, weight is predominantly on the ball of feet, but heels should be low, almost skim or touching the mat is fine, so as to be able to drive forwards with more energy
When stepping to top point of triangle it’s usual that heels are low. When stepping deeper between legs because of angle 📐 it’s harder to keep heels 👠 so low. Lower heels is correct. They may touch, again not incorrect, as long as the combined weight is through balls of feet. I used to have heels up high and actually was quite unstable in the throw position until I studied this method, from Okano Sensei, Ryutsukeizai University, which has huge stability in the throw position by comparison. Please refer to Isao Okano Sensei.
@@JudoLife thank you
one of those throws I never got right in randori
It helps to circle opponents onto your back. Presetting the kuzushi with this action simplifies the technical aspects
@@JudoLife circle your opponents onto your back, is this about kuzushi in a circular direction, like in this demonstration, or is it more footwork than what's demonstrated here? Thank you
Maestro gomito più alto , partenza con guardia destra, e da go Kyo leggermente più piegato con le gambe
Actually don’t need to bend legs too much if the other components are in place, regarding kuzushi and tsukuri. A key element that many mistake, by bending legs too much they lose stability. Of course some famous judoka may bend a lot, but it’s not necessary. It’s the straight body and hip in, and timing that really gets great lift in opposition.
Ma piegarsi quel poco per scendere sotto al baricentro dell' avversario e rompere il suo equilibrio 😊😊
I went for my first judo lesson the other day and I just get winded when hitting the mat in practice, is that normal?
No
I think 💭 you may be holding your breath on all the way on being thrown and too rigid? Try to relax and hold breath at last part of breakfall, not going over.
@@JudoLife tha kyou for the advice I'll see how my next session goes!
I wonder if that translates to a tall person throwing a shorter one ?
Leverage from being tall, long legs work easier because the fulcrum is extended. Just be wary of breaking balance as or just before entry, the draw for Seoinage tall vs short is still release of shoulder suppression and upwards forwards over your shoulders draw. I like to hip out to "generate space that sucks the opponent forwards" and circling seoinage where the opponent is drawn onto your back while you simultaneously step/enter. Got to say its generally a short vs tall throw, but its all about sucking in the opponent, powerful deep squat legs and body turning power, amplified by kuzushi. Have one guy in our club that is 6' tall regularly throws shorter opponents clean with this.
But can he stop a double leg?
Yes he can, used to that, grew up with tackles in Judo and we used them. Typically we counter throw with tawara-gaeshi or sprawl or sumi-gaeshi
I love Obi Tori Gaeshi against the double and single leg attackers @@JudoLife
The grip of right hand is too high IMHO
Actually top specialists of this throw often grab higher on collar. Watch form from Olympic champions specialist at this. Injuries sustained from other issues, not the height of the grip but the shoulder position led by where elbow is.
right hand beard grab next time maybe :) may improve throw? :)
I actually considered that.
Is a red belt in judo the same as black belt in karate
It is the same as a red belt in karate, in a traditional Karate-do club.
Red belt is 5th dan and up i believe. A black belt is at least 1st dan
@@KingoftheJiangl thank you explaining the red belt in judo. I know about the black belt in karate as I done it for 10 years.
Yes you are correct, the tempo is not taught here. This is a basics for white belts learning position of body. Tempo and draw are later. First you need to teach the basics, then once you learn to drive you might buy a Maserati or a high performance vehicle, but it's better to learn in a second hand car, get the structure of driving in wet weather and frozen roads etc correct, before adding the extras you need like making space and tempo that makes a difference at black belt level.
Crawl, walk, run. After like 1000 uchikomi repetitions, and 100 throws moving, I would add that sort of more advanced judo science.
That is Ippon Seoinage
No, I have a grip with both hands, that defines morote (literally both hand) Ippon referring to the single arm gripping the sleeve.
@@JudoLife you have a hand on lapel and one arm in this video
Sorry we just use to refer to this as seoi nage not ippon or morote
Yes this is Seoinage. (back carry throw) But it is also more definitively called "morote seoinage." The Kodokan only made the decision to call this Seoinage a couple of years ago, when it reviewed the 100 techniques of Judo names. Ippon Seoinage is also Seoinage.
@Judo Life is there an Eddie seionage as well?
Wybacz "mistrzu", ale za atak na palcach stóp i "rozjechanych" stopach masz u mnie co najmniej shido.
There are always many critics but not so many who willingly post. Thank you for your contribution. Sometimes uchikomi wide shallow, and certainly on the balls of feet at tsukuri because the tension at the climax of tsukuri that’s when you bite in the wave of tension and go closer to heels on the throw. There are different hip widths of feet that is a choice, but I certainly go feet under shoulders for stability. On kake, one hip turns out a little.
Could you speak louder?
Volume worked fine on trial voice check
Just turn your volume on extreme
😂 make sure when u get robbed, you tell the robber to grab your wrist, oh no, do it slower 😂
As a cop...I LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE!! One on One Judo is one of the best disciplines period....no keyboard warrior talk!
Works well from attacker pushing forwards, they don’t need to grab you, you grab them, they are just punchy and have forwards momentum
And make sure they are wearing a Judo uniform
Its not necessary, just grab a wrist, in judo we do that a lot, or elbow. We train no-gi at times too. Why do you need these keyboard warrior comments, are you a wrestler? Are you jealous? I have knocked out probably 20 people in security and with gentle throws. I very rarely throw hard like I usually do in training at the club.
REALLY....You only attack people while not wearing any clothes...😝
