I saw them in Oxford in the very early nineties, playing in a college refrectory, with no stage. Most people there did not "get" them. I danced so much I fell over!!! The greatest night of my life, from what I can remember. Love this band!
I used to love gettin into theose chunky basslines! They anchor the whole song to the floor and give it a good kickin so that it writhes around! Might be slow and easy to play but they really are so involved, used to love jamming along with record on the bass to (all) their albums!!!
I loved The Word and Ride. I can't believe I missed this performance back then. The Word, wasn't that the best???!!! Wasn't it considered pretty groundbreaking for the early 90s? Thanks so much for posting. I love Mark Gardeners new stuff. Great stuff! Check it out.
It sounds like they are actually playing live, which was rare for these kinds of shows. The band look so young, which is amazing, because this was several years into Ride's career.
Would love to have lived in London in the late 80s/early 90s. Was too young and too poor to travel. Shame that London is not one of my most hated cities...
nobody mentions the great bass line. When I first heard this I just had to get ,y hands on a stingray!
cee jaypee Me too!
man, I wanna grow up in early 90's england now.
Without a doubt one of the finest live bands I've ever seen. Their sound just steamrolled over you.
Absolutely right there (Y)
@IvyMike777 He's an unbelieveably awesome drummer! He should have been huge. Ride should have been huge.
I love these corners of UA-cam, surrounded by comments from 14 years ago!
Shoegaze!
London in the early 90s was the best!

Saw them on this tour in the states, the show was incredible. Sadly they never returned but this was one of the greatest shows I've seen to this day.
Since the reunion back in 2015 I've seen them 6 times. Hope you've had a chance to see Ride again too!
