I really wish you guys would come out with videos of stuff I want to try before I get 3 other things 😂😂 I do like that tone and heard that green day! Respect 🤙🤙
The pre isn't supposed to break up in a tube bass amp,for the most part, the power tubes do. Put a drive or distortion pedal after this pre, it'll push it differently than before. There aren't really pedals that mimick power tubes breaking up or output transformers saturating, tube pres add tube gain and tube headroom. Pushing a 12A_7 to break up is a completely different thing than pushing a pair (or quad) of 6L6s or KT88s. Pushing preamp is officially as "the dirty channel" on a 2 channel amp and it best serves guitarists for the reasons you observe. There's something to be said for coloring inside the lines...
Sounds nice but I just can't warrant getting rack equipment as I don't own or use any. It's simpler for me to get an Ampeg head or amp interfaces for recording use. Arkham, If you make an actual Amp Head and still cuts the price of an Ampeg, HMU 😉👌🏻
800 + shipping. Dunno of fraction of the price. well 1/2 is a fraction I guess. Still way too much for me, for an amp with one cheap tube inside. Rather save up more and get a tube amp or just leave it imho.
An Ampeg SVT Heritage Edition costs like $3.800, which I'm guessing is the amp they've been sort of trying to clone. If it actually had the same pre-amp as a "vintage" Ampeg design, and still cost $800, it would be a great deal. However, this is probably closer to only the pre-amp section of an V-4B, which still has 2x pre-amp tubes and 2x driver tubes, and you can get a brand new one for the cost of 2 Zephyrs. I agree that you are probably better of just saving your money and buying a full tube amp. Otherwise you might as well get something like the Two Notes ReVolt Bass pre-amp, an analog 3-channel pre-amp with 1x 12AX7, analog cab-sim, MIDI, FX-loop and DI for half the price of the Zephyr. Or why not skip the tubes and get an Origin Bassrig Super Vintage for $380.
@@JK_35 The Sans Amp has never been a tube unit. They are emulating different kinds of tube distortion though, depending on if it's a guitar Sans Amp or a bass Sans Amp.

Hey Chuck! Sounds good
What’s up man?! Yea dude it’s amazing
Awesome sounds and great video! I always find it interesting to listen to your opinion about the equipment you test. 👍🏻
Sounds great! Could see how this would be a super useful studio tool
You guys should check out Jad Freer Audio. Their Capo preamp is unbelievable!
Around $825.00 for just a preamp? For that price you could find a really nice amp,
maybe even a used Ampeg or Mesa Boogie...
nice video , I saw Jayme
That sounds pretty cool…. hold on… I should get some rack stuff too! There goes my savings.
once you go rack, you never go back
I started rack at 16, kept getting heavier. Went svt head and cab for a while, then darkglass pedals only.
Cant beat a non-broken back.
I don’t know about that. The NUX Melvin Lee Davis pedal is pretty nice. You go back to pedal, you may never settle!!!

How can I learn to shake my brain loose like you guys?
Hmmm 🤔🤔. I'm wondering how this stacks up against the Demeter VTBP 201.
This would be incredible with my Lab Gruppen 1200 power amp!
I really need to know what the baseline from 11:15 is from
I want to know too!
Sounds excellent. Sorry if I missed it in the video: Do we hear XLR DI Out only or has this been miced in some way or another?
Only the XLR output. No cab sims or post processing of any kind
@@TheBassChannel Thanks! It sounds absolutely fab!

you can often find used SVTs for under $1000. I’ll take the real deal over this any day
the sans amp rackmount is about half the price of that, though not a tube I believe. may be wrong
