Proper Turn in the Golf Swing
The proper turn in the golf swing consists of your hips turning away in conjunction with activating your core. Your hips will have a turn and up motion vs just a lateral turn away.
This will generate power will maintaining your set up which will aid in consistent strikes.

I was doing this a week or so ago at the range and was BOMBING all my irons much farther than usual. I can't seem to get that feeling back now. any good drills for this move? thanks....

I have had the same feeling come and go as well.
Here is what I recommend:
Start the swing from the ground up (winding up away from the target). Feel the turn and spring-load build from your feet, then to your knees, then to your hips, then through core/shoulders. In other words, the build-up of power starts with the ground/lower body.
Unwind your swing from the ground up as well. Unwind with feeling your feet, then knees, then your hips, and then your core/club will follow as you transition and turn through to the target.
I feel like if I get trapped using the upper body only without utilizing the ground/lower body then you get into just "turning" not turning/coiling together.
Does that make sense? You might try it and let me know how it goes. Stay tuned, I will post another video on this.
