    I would continue your patio straight outward from your present location, then have a waterfall of steps straight down the hill from there. It will center your house, frame the pond view, and be handy for access, all at the same time.

    • @ryan71100
      @ryan71100 Рік тому +1

      Agree, I would even get more dirt to extend further out to have more space and then a nice set of concrete poured stairs from concrete with the haus’ going down!

    • @OldIronAcres
      @OldIronAcres Рік тому +3

      A couple posts on each side of the steps with Iron Post Lantern's on top (solar, so not to have to deal with electric lines?) would make it all so inviting!

    • @AdamsMom921
      @AdamsMom921 Рік тому +2

      We discussed the steps location and decided against coming off the patio as there is already 3 access points to it. From the covered porch and the 2 pathways. So we thought at least one side should be a solid edge for chair placement around a fire ring. So putting the stairs centered on the garage was the solution. I like the railing and solar lights suggestion in this thread. He plans to let the dirt settle a bit. So the actual patio may wait till spring… but it’s all variable.
      Thanks for commenting

    🤔 I have an idea for you to consider. Hopefully no one already thought of it. Sell big rocks and boulders. Put 4-5 next to your firewood stand, add a nice sign on the stand and pull in the big bucks. Got to be a lot of people around that need landscape rocks. Won’t cost you anything to advertise at your firewood stand.😎🤔

So I googled gold prospecting in PA and it said that there is gold in PA and the best places to find gold is in York and Lancaster counties, but all counties in PA have the potential of having gold deposits. You might be sitting on a literal gold mine. I really enjoy watching your and neighbor Doug’s videos they are very interesting and fun to watch. Take care.

    About the rocks, you’ll need more then you think you will. So when you think you have enough, get a couple more loads. Worst case is you have some extra. It’s better then dragging the excavator back into the woods because you need 1 or 2 more loads to finish.

    I think whatever you do you should consider the new dirt unstable until it has had a chance to settle. It looked like you put dirt on grassy slope and there wasn't much compaction between lifts due to the pace of dirt delivery. Whatever you do is likely to move so don't go crazy right away with a hardscape patio, expect whatever you do will need repairs in a couple years. Or I could be wrong, I hope I am wrong.

I live in northeast Ohio and good clay is hard to come by. I can get sodium bentonite from my local farmers exchange. I have done alot of reading about it. Did you ever consider trying it with your pond? Could make a good video. Thanks

      He had a product called Damit… which did seem to help the leaks through the sides. He had wet areas on the front side of the dam. But ultimately the entire bottom of the pond was shale and seeped straight down.
      If you use the damit or bentonite product… be sure to use a respirator protection. It is a dust that expands and I believe it really could be deadly in the lungs. Completely shut off your air supply.
