My black power dump trailer just like yours.had to cut the draw bar to fit the bigger ball to haul it behind the tractor for in n out of the woods n trails.
I would continue your patio straight outward from your present location, then have a waterfall of steps straight down the hill from there. It will center your house, frame the pond view, and be handy for access, all at the same time.
Agree, I would even get more dirt to extend further out to have more space and then a nice set of concrete poured stairs from concrete with the haus’ going down!
A couple posts on each side of the steps with Iron Post Lantern's on top (solar, so not to have to deal with electric lines?) would make it all so inviting!
We discussed the steps location and decided against coming off the patio as there is already 3 access points to it. From the covered porch and the 2 pathways. So we thought at least one side should be a solid edge for chair placement around a fire ring. So putting the stairs centered on the garage was the solution. I like the railing and solar lights suggestion in this thread. He plans to let the dirt settle a bit. So the actual patio may wait till spring… but it’s all variable. Thanks for commenting
🤔 I have an idea for you to consider. Hopefully no one already thought of it. Sell big rocks and boulders. Put 4-5 next to your firewood stand, add a nice sign on the stand and pull in the big bucks. Got to be a lot of people around that need landscape rocks. Won’t cost you anything to advertise at your firewood stand.😎🤔
I think the conceptual drawing you showed us really looks great, I don't think you need any ideas. What you plan on doing is really nice :-)) PS: You do have a LOT of rocks!
I taught him although I can’t back up! My father always said to put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it the way you want the trailer to go. Adam picked it up easily.
For your carry all, I would recommend a hydraulic top link. You could also just unhook the top link, and then when when you lift your 3pt. It will act like a dump. Wow, that sure is a lot of rocks.
Awesome video Adam and when you said you have glacier deposits of rock in certain areas of your property my mind immediately thought of gold deposits. So I googled gold prospecting in PA and it said that there is gold in PA and the best places to find gold is in York and Lancaster counties, but all counties in PA have the potential of having gold deposits. You might be sitting on a literal gold mine. I really enjoy watching your and neighbor Doug’s videos they are very interesting and fun to watch. Take care.
Adam, you were careful loading the rocks so you did not damage anything as you hauled the rocks to your house. Some guys drop the rocks onto the bed of a truck and soon the bed needs to be repaired. The Ultratec sure is a great hauling tool. Your wall will look very nice when you finish this project. The pond is filling up very nicely. Blessings to you.
Thanks for the pond update!! Every video needs a few sec's of pond progress. It woiuld be nice to put a stake in at waters edge & every week record progress ( or something like that)
Nice job well thought out using what you got to its full potential. That Dougifed carry all is a Solution looking for a Task to Tackle, it’s amazingly strong. 😊✨👏👏👏✨👍👍👍
Hello for the hardscaping possibly cut a ledge halfway up the hill and step the rocks up, on the ledge. landscape it so it visually breaks it up so it has a softer look and adds variety. Just a thought.
Crazy how those glaciers deposit rock in different places. Here in Minnesota on my wife’s family Farm, there are certain areas in fields we plow up rock every year. Moved up from the ground being frozen feet down every winter especially in a winter we don’t get much snow to insulate the ground. Nice project.
Hi Adam, just a thought, with so many rocks you could create a stream, not too deep a little windy windy with a series of small waterfalls, a nice water feature.
About the rocks, you’ll need more then you think you will. So when you think you have enough, get a couple more loads. Worst case is you have some extra. It’s better then dragging the excavator back into the woods because you need 1 or 2 more loads to finish.
Wow; love the bonus footage! Y'all are so lucky!!! We live in Florida and have to pay for those boulders!!! Love the drawing and the ideas you have for what you're doing!!! Can't wait to see what's next!!!
You & that equipment had a busy day!!! 💪 God surely supplied you with those rocks/boulders - save those dollars!! 🙌 Thanks for ALWAYS making interesting videos for us!! God bless you and your family! 👍(I wish they made a bigger thumbs up so we could give you a bigger one 😉😆) 🙏❤️🙏
Place is looking epic! From a guy out in Arizona (where it was 119 degrees today), I sure like those big spacious properties and all that green! Never been but it’s beautiful back there (except for the winters😂😂).
I was watching this and you put that great big boulder in the back of the tractor I just shook my head wondering why you put the heaviest one in there, guess you figured it out the hard way lol. Also liked the comment from Doug. Maybe you owe him an other steak dinner lol he obviously new how well you would test his work so he over built it. 😂 your friend from HD.
I think whatever you do you should consider the new dirt unstable until it has had a chance to settle. It looked like you put dirt on grassy slope and there wasn't much compaction between lifts due to the pace of dirt delivery. Whatever you do is likely to move so don't go crazy right away with a hardscape patio, expect whatever you do will need repairs in a couple years. Or I could be wrong, I hope I am wrong.
As a kid on the farm, I had over a thousand acres to roam and play on and if I remember right there was only one rock over the size of a tennis ball on the ground and that was the size of a VW Bug
Adam: I dunno nothing, but maybe some kind of (3" or 4" high) silt fence, over the loose dirt at the bottom, before you stack the rocks on the slope....???
Hey Adam another great video. With regards to the pond I am having the same problem with my one and a half acre pond I had built last year. I live in northeast Ohio and good clay is hard to come by. I can get sodium bentonite from my local farmers exchange. I have done alot of reading about it. Did you ever consider trying it with your pond? Could make a good video. Thanks
He had a product called Damit… which did seem to help the leaks through the sides. He had wet areas on the front side of the dam. But ultimately the entire bottom of the pond was shale and seeped straight down. If you use the damit or bentonite product… be sure to use a respirator protection. It is a dust that expands and I believe it really could be deadly in the lungs. Completely shut off your air supply.
I was wondering what you thinking using the carryall I would have just hooked dump trailer to tractor n loaded front end loader n took easy out not filling trailer just cover floor single layer. Rocks are heavy
You had your chance to legitimately have a reason for you and neighbor Doug build a catapult to "transport" the boulders and blew it, now it'll be a real hard sell for the wife!!! Should look beautiful when your done.
That’s an awesome start. Wish I had boulders on my property… all of our rocks are iron stained limestone and flint… can you say, “ugly”? I like your rock picking and packing fleet.
Good thing you have all that rock available, I don't know how much it costs around you but just that little bit of large stone would be minimum $500+ here in Mississippi. Can't wait to see the end result. Stay safe.
We got a boulder that is bigger than your excavator on the property, but most are smaller about the size of your trailer. Wish we could dig down six inches before hitting rock.
What way of loading felt the best going down to the house? I would think having the bucket loaded the heaviest could help slow you down just by lowering the bucket? Pond filling fast or slow compared to last time?
Since you are not going to run out of rocks and the pond is going to stay full this time, I see a future project of using rocks to make a recirculating waterfall at the pond. Maybe a 2024 project?

You seriously put that tractor, the dump trailer and my welds to the test with this one today!
Sure did. But it held!
I was going to call you and ask if I was exceeding the manufacturers specifications
@@HometownAcres as long as it has the Dougified stamp, your good!
Add a commercial weed barrier/geo textile fabric to control weeds before you lay the stone.
@@HometownAcres load it till it breaks then just a bit less than that next time. 😜😂
💡a natural swim pond in that seating area, small waterfall down the rock face. Thanks for sharing💚🌍
Can't believe I don't see this in the comments yet....
You rock :D
Pond it looking NICE!!!
I would leave a small area that you could start a sled run from the back door down.
I would continue your patio straight outward from your present location, then have a waterfall of steps straight down the hill from there. It will center your house, frame the pond view, and be handy for access, all at the same time.

@@ryan71100 there is a septic system built into the hillside and he can’t disturb it or especially the access lid!!! LOL
Every night the Boulder Fairy comes and deposits another boulder in the woods

hi there good show john
GOOOOOOOD
MAAAAAAAAWNIN!!
Be careful you don’t hurt your back!
I’m sure it’ll look great when it’s done
Keep up the great work
Have a Day
Patience will be important for this job.
Good morning from south Texas! Great video! Love the editing and music! Very entertaining! Thanks for sharing!
I bet the end product will look amazing!
You have the right tool for the job.
Thanks for keeping the pond updates. Looks like it's gaining!
Rockin video
That’s going to look very nice when you get done. You’ll wonder why you haven’t done that before now! Thanks for sharing
Definitely a gold mine of big rocks!! 🪨🪨🪨
I think the conceptual drawing you showed us really looks great, I don't think
you need any ideas. What you plan on doing is really nice :-))
PS: You do have a LOT of rocks!
Make sure you get your rocks set before the rainy season begins so it’ll hold the hill. It’s going to look great! Great video!
LOL, show off with your trailer backing skills!
Great job!
I taught him although I can’t back up! My father always said to put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it the way you want the trailer to go. Adam picked it up easily.
@AdamsMom921 I love it Mrs Adams. Great job!

Nice crop from the rock farming so far. I winced for you when you put the choice nugget on the one spot that didn’t dump.
Adam, you were careful loading the rocks so you did not damage anything as you hauled the rocks to your house.

For dumping with your carryall, just unhook your 3rd point and lift your rear 3pt hitch. That should partially if not fully dump for you.
It's nice to see it taking shape. Also the video editing and music are well matched. It was a pleasure to go on that journey with you :)
Thanks for the pond update!! Every video needs a few sec's of pond progress. It woiuld be nice to put a stake in at waters edge & every week record progress ( or something like that)

Adding a few "THUNDERHEAD" Flowering Plumb Trees across the length would add some color and help shade the buildings.
No doubt Neighbor Doug will be brainstorming a fix or workaround for the back that trailer!

Hi Adam, just a thought, with so many rocks you could create a stream, not too deep a little windy windy with a series of small waterfalls, a nice water feature.
Hydraulic top link might have helped with the large rock in the carry-all. I find very handy for many attachments on my CK.
Nice progress! Thanks for sharing your lessons learned too.
Thanks for the video! Adam ROCKS !!!

Looking good , I had a bank around my pool , I used large rip rock random size and they locked down nice . Nice sharp edges lock them in 👍
yolo, hope everyone is doing well
I would like to recommend wearing some steel/ composite toe work shoes for some of these projects.
I agree!!!
Great problem solving, I guess when your a one man crew you have to be resourceful!

This was a very interesting video Adam. It looks like you are getting very adept handling the excavator. Stay safe. Bill H from Cranberry Township

You find pockets of rocks in wisconson, but it is mostly from homestead clearing and were they dumped them at.
I’m jealous of your landscape boulder goldmine

Nice video
Put some dirt or slabs in the trailer to protect the bottom.
Good idea
Thank you for sharing!
Adam why don’t use your firewood dump trailer
Great work, it’s always nice to own all the tools you need to accomplish tasks at your convenience.
Great start Adam! I bet your mom would have some great ideas! See you in the next installment.
My back hurts just watching this video.
Getting good with that excavator! Some precision rock picking.
Fabric to control weeds
I use my dump trailer behind my tractor.had to make a bigger hole in the draw for the ball but no manual handling of rocks.
Not sure why you didn’t put all the pond dirt on the hill so make a bigger gentler slope. Good luck with the rock wall.
He has a septic system in the sloped yard and there needs to remain access
I was going to ask the same thing
That’s going to look awesome when you are finished. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

Yeah we’re going to wait until next summer to do any patio of concrete work up top but we will probably get the rocks and shrubs in before winter
Any reason why you couldn't use your truck and dump trailer? Just curious. It's looking awesome!
NM, looks like kind of a tight squeeze
As a kid on the farm, I had over a thousand acres to roam and play on and if I remember right there was only one rock over the size of a tennis ball on the ground and that was the size of a VW Bug

I see a future Neighbor Doug project in rectifying your dump trailer bent tab to hold the tailgate in place. 🤔
I saw that one coming from a mile away! Big rock in 3-point...
I would lay fabric on the hill before i placed the rock. I did the same as you about 3 years ago.
Nice work Adam, going to look nice.
If you can get your dump trailer back to the rock site with your pick up truck, that might be a better option. Put your truck in four wheel low.
That’s an awesome start. Wish I had boulders on my property… all of our rocks are iron stained limestone and flint… can you say, “ugly”?

Good video Adam
Look at that rock counting...you still got it! haha
Lol
Neighbor Doug probably already has an idea how to improve that design.
Make sure to partially bury the big stones…
I am definitely jealous of your rockage. :) looks good
Stairs would be nice. Also a Zipline from the house to the pond.
The zip-line made me laugh!!!
Please don’t give him any ideas!!!
Ha ha ha.. Now you're making me laugh.
Looking good.
Glacial erratic deposits , as an accountant you can appreciate the value of return on those deposits from a millennia of years ago lol.
Probably best if the pond fills slow. Not that I know anything. We have had tons of rain in Massachusetts but nothing compared to Vermont
Sell the rocks boulders as well!!!
i think some poor farmers got the rock up out of the fields and piled them all up in one place. take care, be safe and well.
We are in Stone county Ar. Come get all you want! LOL
Put it in low range and it won't push you anywhere.
Certainly looks like glacial deposits there. We get a bunch like that in areas of Wisconsin too where the glacier line ended.
Maybe some 1” Delaware stone in between the boulders
Since you are not going to run out of rocks and the pond is going to stay full this time, I see a future project of using rocks to make a recirculating waterfall at the pond. Maybe a 2024 project?
Snakes are gonna love laying on those hot rocks.
First video watch. Another UA-cam-er mentioned the channel.
Are you planning to put a weed barrier/fabric down before placing the rocks? If not I’m afraid you’ll regret it.
