Adding Resources To My Game: Automation Game Devlog #2

  • Welcome to the second episode of my automation game devlog series! In this video, I dive a bit deeper into the logistic network add my first two machines - an extractor and a compactor, setup the random world generation and create three starting resources: cows, chickens and wheat.

    Meat ain’t the only raw material you could get from a cow, milk would work as well. On the other hand, there would be no need for the transportation of the cows if you were to milk them :)

      Thanks! Yea I thought about whether to go with beef or milk and landed on beef, but I would like to be able to add milk as a resource as well eventually. I might use a different machine type for it that handles fluids or have a setting on the extractor that can toggle between the resource types. Still some planning to do :)

    What canves size you are using for your pixel art

      I've been using 16 x 16 to keep the images simple as this is my first time making my own game art.

    If chicken lay eggs, should not cows give milk instead meat?

      Yep, that annoyed me too so I have added a way of getting milk and beef separately from the cows. I'll include that in the next devlog :)
