I really really appreciate your "tone". I am sort of tired of weeding out DIY videos where we learn of the hosts' entire family and her emotional problems...thank you for getting right to it, the list of materials at the beginning and your confidence and warmth. Beautiful job! Cheers!
I’ve been watching many about these techniques and deciding what to do with a lovely antique glass tray topped table. Love how this turned out and I’m so going to do this. Thanks for the beautiful video.
Thank YOU for the beautiful comment, my friend.
These are incredible! Your imagination is insane!
Insane is RIGHT, @Meghan Thimjon! (Thank you, girl!) 😂😘
OMG! My sister just replaced all her old 4 pane windows with new and gave me all her old windows! Now, I know what I want to do with them since I cannot paint a lick. Thanks again, as always, for your awesome ideas Heather. I always look forward to Thutsday
That is a FANTASTIC SCORE, @Kimberly Siddons! Woo hoo! They will make for some incredible DIY Faux Mercury Glass projects, girl...
Thank you for being here, my friend. xoxo
I absolutely love your voice!
Wow Heather! These are absolutely gorgeous! And I WILL be using this to make a few items for my home and I would love to experiment with how this could work in mini! Thank you for sharing your amazing talent!💕
Can't wait to see how you translate this look into magical minis, Ara! That will be awesome! xoxo
I just subscribed, can't wait to see it😉
Gorgeous!
WOW LOVE IT!!!! AMAZING!!!!
Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, @Alejandra Orellano! Thank you for watching, my friend. xoxo
Omg.
I'm at a loss for words.
Oh, I didn't mean to ignore you, darlin'! Sorry for the delay in responding: I hope the 'no words' thingie means this was useful to ya! xoxo
Very much so!I loved it. Sometimes when my fibro is flaring I don't have the energy to be interactive, but I wanted to let you know I loved it.
So often watching crafters and artist ( same thing) lol, I see what they've made or done and I know what they used and how they made it. There's no mystery.
I've craved not knowing something. Being taught something that I cant figure out from looking at it.
You have been that TEACHER for me. I devour your videos. Sometimes i cant stop and all of a sudden its 3 am. I love it.
When i get my channel i hope i can be that kind of inspiration.
I wont be copying you but some of your techniques i will be able to use and pass along (giving credit). I will refer back to your tutorials often.
Hugs and adoration.
Thank you
@@hannanoelle1 - what a gift you have given me with these words. It sucks that you struggle with fibro, and just getting through the day is probably a huge challenge, sometimes. The fact that you would take the time to share these thoughts with me is a huge act of generosity: thank you. xoxo
Amazing!! I love antique mirrors! I have one that has painted flowers and etching with a heavy gilt frame hanging above an antique table... in my living room. I think I need to try this project! Love it!!
Hi @Shirley Ping! Hope all is well with you and yours, my friend. I LOVE the sound of that mirror - what a treasure! 😘😍
Love this idea! I did an ornate mirror once. I painted the whole front of the mirror with a paint that allowed acrylic paint to be placed on it. Then went to town and painted an antique look to it with acrylic and sponge then did the hobbit map on top of that. I loved the look but it took forever!
That sounds incredible, @Neta McKinney! WOW! A true labor of love, from the sounds of it. I want to see it! xoxo
Amazing transformations! You never disappoint with your ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Hi @Sandra Beaver - thank you for your kindness, my friend. xoxo
Amazing 👏 🙀 Absolutely gorgeous!
This is beautiful. Thanks for posting.
So beautiful, just what I was looking for and couldn't find anywhere!!!! Thank you so much, solved what to do with the glass on my tv cabinet :)

Hi @AliLou Creations ! Hope all is well with you, my friend. Thank you so much for watching! xoxo
Both ways are beautiful😀
The second way with the stamps looks a bit easier and less layers to deal with👍
Thank you yours is amazing
Fantastic!!!
Simply stunning! Thanks for sharing!
So happy you liked this one, @Verne Smit - thank you for watching! xoxo
Beautiful effects. That large frame though omg. Please help us learn more about how to do that ! Please and thank you.
I'm so pleased you like 'em, @Erika's Art Garden! Endless fun with these techniques...as to the large frame? It was falling apart, all of the original gesso ornamentation was chipping off and the colors were all wrong for this project. So, I knocked off all the loose parts, hit it with one coat of Ultra Cover Flat Black and drybrushed with a gold tone acrylic paint. I love thrift store frames, girl! xoxo
Those gloves with those bangles tho!!💕
😂😜😘
Love it Heather its amazing that we can take sub straights and do treatments that mimic an effect that happens naturally in old mirrors xxx
I love that, Cindy - Faux Forever, girl! 😍

Gorgeous! ❤️
I'm wondering what it is you have your stamp attached to? I'm trying this and having zero luck stamping on the glass. You make it look easy! Mine is a smudge fest. Thanks!
Hi Anne! For the stamps, I typically attach them to the thin acetate that is included in their packaging. This allows me to very carefully place the designs and to gently press down, minimizing smearing...but, smearing is ALWAYS an issue when attempting to stamp onto a slick surface like glass. It took a lot of practice for me to learn how to get it right - and it's still always nerve-wracking! Don't give up, girl! 😍
My mouth is once again agape. Which one do I like best? All. Everything on the shelf and the wall. Beautiful vignette of old mirrors, or are they really? Ha!
Side note. When I was a kid I cleaned the edges and frame of a mirror with Brasso, brass cleaner. It foxed all around the frame and it stayed like that forever. I still don't know why I used Brasso. The frame was goldish and I was 8. Lol
Hi @Susan Jerrell - ooohhhh...I LOVE the idea of using Brasso to 'de-silver' an existing mirror. Gonna have to give it a go! Your 8 year old self just taught me something fabulous - thank you! xoxo
Wow! Such cool effects and so creative. Have you tried both brands of mirror spray paints; Krylon and I think Rustoelum? Also it looks like you did flat black spray paint, any difference with glossy black spray paint? I love that large stencil you used, thanks for putting a link to it. Also have you tried this method on a sheet of plastic? I need to make a faux mirror so no glass or mirror will be used. The plastic will be cut into a very custom shape.
It's been awhile, my friend, but I have used both brands. Both seem pretty comparable to me. Have not experimented with glossy black - but I wouldn't hesitate to try it. As for plastic? No - have not attempted this method with plastic...but if the surface was smooth enough, and impervious to the solvents in the pain, it could work. Thank you for your kind words. Good luck with your project!
@@Thicketworks Thank you so much for replying!
Where are you finding the IOD stamps (link)? Also, are they acrylic, silicone or rubber? Everything I am finding says they are made for card making...Same thing? Are they reusable ?
I have a mirror I would like to "antique" and stencil. How would I do that? Is there a way to remove the mirror finish so that I can stencil and layer from the back the way you did? Or would it be an entirely different technique? I want to create the mercury glass effect on the mirror, but want to use a French style stencil with it. Thanks!
To achieve this look with an existing mirror, it's necessary to dissolve the mirror backing with harsh chemicals. There are tutorials detailing how this is done - but I chose to start with clear glass in order to achieve the foxing effect without having to wear a hazmat suit! Good luck with your project: it sounds lovely.
Thank you. I am absolutely in love with the second stenciled mirror. I just love how delicate it is and the antiquing is fantastic! I think I went through eight of your videos yesterday back-to-back because I could not stop watching! Love!
Just to be clear, are you doing ALL of this on the BACK of the glass? All of it? Sometimes I can't see the stencil, is this right? You are not doing anything on the front?? okay, thanks
Hi Heather,
I really love both methods but I had a bit of a snafu with the second method. The vinegar took off some of the stamped motif. I uded stazon ink and heat set as well. Do you have any advice?
Uh, oh. That hasn't happened to me, but if it did here's what I would do: spray a thin layer of a clear sealant over the stamped motif prior to the next round of mirror paint/vinegar. Hope this will solve the issue, my friend. xoxo
@@Thicketworks i will try that. Are you using vinegar mixed with water, or straight?
@@jedimindtrix2142 Just straight. Good luck!
How can you make it more of a mirror effect. It look live sliver more than a mirror?
gorgeous! Too bad it wouldn't work on a real mirror! (I know you can antique real mirrors too - without the addition of an image - but it requires chemical products I'm too afraid to use!)
We're just starting to get Rust-o-leum products here in France (although not the mirror effect one) so maybe one day... (I really don't feel like trying to import an aerosol aaaall the way from the USA!)
Using harsh chemicals to dissolve mirror coatings is just not something I want to do - so, I'm thrilled to be able to achieve this effect with simple spray paints, @Meanne77. Any metallic silver paint will work - it doesn't have to be Rust-o-leum. xoxo
